I'm not convinced that was an option at the time. I'm sure the French police didn't just let them leave the city confines unhindered so as to avoid a shoot out. If they did, surely they would've taken them out as soon as it was 'safe' to do so. I thought it wasn't until they robbed the petrol station that their whereabouts could be pinpointed to an area. > Whereas a seige in a industrial unit with a single > hostage is now playing out. There's a school nearby, we could've easily been dealing with a much worse situation if the terrorists had taken a different turning during their getaway...

Once you get outside Paris you can very quickly be in rural France, whereas London and it's environs is much more of an urban sprawl. France is a much bigger, more open, rural country than the UK. The forest where they were allegedly holed up in is bigger than Paris. France also doesn't have the extent of CCTV camera coverage that the main UK cities and towns have... This has reminded me that I owe you a reply in the 'town planning' thread, catch you later doll...

  12. The scores for the FA Cup 3rd Round are as follows... AM 10pts AqM 8pts JL 7pts mx 6pts Ot 6pts LG 5pts RD 5pts EP 1pt I haven't bothered with a table. Unless we get at least one extra player to join in, then there is no point in continuing with the league, as all 8 current players will qualify for the QF knock out stage regardless...

Rape is rape, and this was certainly rape, but when it comes to sentencing the circumstances of the rape do make a difference. As for the whole apology issue, if he apologised now I think it would all ring a bit hollow, more out of self-preservation than genuine remorse. I agree with SJ, he's not a very nice person period...
