  1. I would definitely recommend an Anglepoise for ease of positioning, however make sure whatever lamp you choose it is in scale with the table it sits on. At my work desk I have a 1227 with a CFL which provides a 'warm' light, as I'm not a fan of the 'white' light a lot of LED's give off; it's fine for working at laptop, reading and writing etc...
  2. Great day of footy

Actually it wouldn't bother me, especially if it meant England became a team of world beaters. I think out of those five only the Ox and Wilshire look the biz at the moment. L'Arse's problem is holding onto their decent players, and failure to get into the top four will exacerbate this...
  5. Keats and Yeats are on your side, but you lose 'cause weird lover Wilde is on mine.
  6. Shearer and Sheringham were a good 'double act'. Rooney and Welbeck, although different players to SAS, could work for England too as they have plenty of time to cement their partnership/understanding at Utd. I'm looking forward to seeing how Wilshire and Cleverly get on, once they are both off the treatment table...

The original bar has gone and the new bar will be against the back wall, adjacent the men's WC. I don't know if they have salvaged the old bar counter, but they have started setting up an old looking wooden bar counter. In the 'snug' area a wallpaper trellis has been set up, with rolls of embossed 'period' looking wallpaper. The ceiling has been untouched so far. Oh, and loads of tubes of Gripfill (builder's superglue) lying around, so don't lean too much on anything :) Here's a quick sketch, not to scale...
  8. Cuts both ways ????. I know someone who wrote a blog from the perspective of someone working in an investment bank during the credit crunch. He highlighted how miserable life was, what with redundancies and the general doom and gloom. But despite this, everyone should muck in to help the economy, and his contribution was that instead of holidaying abroad he would be having a staycation in Cornwall. What he forgot to mention in his blog was that he had bought a Cornish bolthole outright on the back of bonuses...my, it must have been such a hardship :)

  13. Fancy a bit of Crawley tomorrow..Stoke like L'Arse will be tired from their midweek exertions. 11/4 Crawley win, cover with draw @ 5/2...

  19. It's decimal on spread betting EP...you have to add 1 to the fraction, therefore it becomes 3.5... ETA: I've just realised EP had already added the 1, 6/4 is 2.5...smart arse ;-)
  20. I'm not sure SJ, my hunch is that 6/4 is more instantly comparable to 7/4 & 5/4...Quids, Mick Mac, any thoughts?
  21. Sunderland 2/1 Arsenal 6/4 Hmmmm...
  22. Thanks shorty, you've made me redundant before I even get the job! I might be interested in the Transport brief though, providing there's a couple of Jags going with it...
  23. I was highlighting Suarez and his lack of an apology for his racist remark...

It was personal, but wasn't there the added complication of the England team and dressing room morale, esp with the other Man City players??? What's interesting in light of recent events is that Wayne Bridge didn't have to apologise for not shaking Terry's hand.
