Junior & Chicago Grey for me...

What's worrying PD is that you give so much legtimacy to a handful of internet trolls, who in no way reflect the views and aims of the decent LFC fans and campaign groups. Davies was entitled to ask the question why LFC don't play on the 15th, but not in the crass, insensitive way that he did. He was playing up to his audience, trying to be funny...he wasn't.

Not many churches/crematoriums are that IT savvy Hugs ;-) Karen, if you can't get a cd from a forumite, you could always try the local library, according to their blurb... The library contains a comprehensive collection of music cds, including the largest collection of classical cds in Southwark, as well as the borough's collection of music scores.

Otta Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > RD, why do you feel affected by Munich? I'm not > taking the p!ss, it's a genuine question. Munich is ingrained in Utd's history and the club's psyche. As a supporter you absorb all that. I don't walk around with a heavy heart thinking about Munich all the time, but on or near the anniversary I do stop and think about what happened, especially if it coincides with a matchday. When it does, there's always a sombre air at the ground. Personally I don't feel grief, as I know what real grief is having lost close family and recently my best friend, but there is a sense of sadness. As a club we probably have a sense of closure over Munich, eventually out of the tragedy came triumph when we won the European Cup under Busby. As you pointed out, LFC don't have that sense of closure, and to some of their fans maybe they probably never will. I agree LFC don't have a right not to play on the anniversary, but I understand why they wouldn't want to.

Good post Otta...why didn't you say that in the first place ;-) I don't agree that you had to be alive at the time of a disaster in order to understand what happened and/or to feel grief. I was born after Munich, but that event still affects me as a Utd supporter.

I thought Utd were complacent last night, but well played Wigan. I expect both Utd and Citeh to drop more points. We missed Scholes, and I don't think there's any coincidence that since he came back we've won 34 points out of 36 (before last night's game). Fortunately there are no more midweek games, so Scholes should play in all the remaining games, but it's something Fergie needs to address this summer.

Otta and PD: I'm surprised you give so much credence to a few internet trolls, you're always going to get those type of comments, we even get trolls on here. They don't reflect the views of the average fan or the campaign groups. Let's return to the issue in hand... do you think LFC are entitled as a mark of respect to not play a game of football on the anniversary of Hillsborough?
-
Of course he's entitled to his opinion, and he's also entitled to receive all the flak he's getting too. LFC have taken the view that by not playing a game of football on the anniversary of Hilsborough, that is a mark of respect...football is secondary. There will still be a show of respect at the Everton game. Chelsea are used to playing games Sunday and Wednesday, plus it's a home game, no travel...I'm surprised they've shown such insensitivity over the issue.

QI... Quintessential Idiot LFC should be given the option not to play a match on the anniversary of Hillsborough...

Citeh have just been fined 30,000 Euros by UEFA for returning to the field late for the second half of a Europa League match against Sporting Lisbon. Porto were fined 20,000 Euros by UEFA for racist chanting aimed at Balotelli in an earlier round. Good to see UEFA have got their priorities right...not

I would have Everton as slight favourites on form and the goalie situation, but 'pool always seem to beat their neighbours when it matters. Spurs v Chelsea is also too close to call, Spurs' defending against Norwich was terrible, if Parker comes back that will make a big difference. I'll go for a Spurs v Toffees final.

No I didn't know it Sue, I thought about plant finder sites too, but I suspected it might be a wild flower so gave that a miss. As it only had 4 petals and a distinct heart shaped leaf, which I thought were both unusual, I decided to Google that info, and then clicked on 'Images' rather than trawling through websites. The Hosta I have is called Sum and Substance, and it's tough corrugated leaves are supposed to deter snails. I have placed some coarse grit over the whole of the Hosta pot and also around a few other susceptible plants in the main garden bed...fingers crossed! :)
-
No probs Sue...I might have to invest in a Snow Poppy too to sort out those pesky snails...last year I lost a Lupin and a Delphinium to them, they also decimated a Hosta which was supposed to be snail proof, I put that in a pot and glad to say it has survived and is now shooting up...I actually haven't come across any snails yet this Spring, was wondering whether it was down to the dry mild winter, but sounds like you've got them all :)

Otta Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I really don't think Mqncini deserves to be > criticised over the Tevez saga, the player wants > away, and made his feelings about as public as > possible. Do you think Fergie would have welcomed Tevez back with such open arms after a 5 month 'golfing break'? What we've witnessed is that Citeh has a number of individuals with no team ethic, and that is down to Mancini...I hope he stays too PD ;-) Anyway, whoever manages them is going to have deal with UEFA's Financial Fair Play rules, that should be fun to watch... Last year, they announced a record loss of ?197m. Under UEFA?s new Financial Fair Play rules their losses have to be trimmed to ?36m over this season and the next.

Otta Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Just had another look at Mancini's comments, and I > think he was trying to send a clear message to the > player to sort it out. ...so why can't he say that in private to the the player? PD, I agree there's nothing wrong with a manager sticking by a player, but it's how the manager goes about it that matters. I don't recall any of the examples you cite being played out in the public domain by the respective managers. Mancini has shown appalling man management skils, and not just with Balotelli, there was also the whole Tevez saga and a similar public slating of Adam Johnson.
-
Does anyone else get the impression that Mancini is hanging Balotelli out to dry in order to save his own skin? For me the buck stops with the manager, he picks the team, if Balotelli is such a liability why play him in the first place? Although his candour makes good headlines, Mancini needs to learn to keep his thoughts to himself and deal with problems in-house and stop publicly slating his players.

Sounds like they have dried out, which they are prone to do...not all veg benefit from being kept in a fridge, but carrots seem to. Soak them in ice cold water and they might come back to life. I would also cut the tops down to a couple of inches as they can draw the moisture out of the main carrot. Carrots can also react to other fruit/veg, got this from the web... Look for firm, smooth, well-shaped carrots with a bright orange colour and a fresh appearance. Carrots with their green frilly tops still attached indicate your freshest choice, but if you're buying the ones in a plastic bag, look them over well as some of these bags may have been stored for months. A good wash and scrub should be fine for organically grown carrots, but all other carrots should be peeled before eating to get rid of any pesticide residue. To preserve their flavour and texture, carrots should be stored in your fridge vegetable drawer in their original plastic bag, fronds removed (preventing them from drawing moisture away from the root). Don't store carrots together with apples, pears or other fruits that produce ethylene gas as they ripen, as this gas will turn carrots bitter. And if your carrots go limp, rejuvenate them in ice water.
