  1. You only need 50% of the total number of leaseholders to agree to buy the freehold...

Atticus, have Evertonians forgiven Rooney yet?..it's obvious he's still an Everton fan, and I'm sure he will play for you again one day.
  3. Have you thought about getting together with the other leaseholders and buying the freehold? If your flat is a long term investment it might work out cheaper in the long run, plus when you come to sell it will add a premium to the price...

  10. I don't think a metal detector will help you much in detecting pipes, it will probably throw up a lot of red herrings...for example the concrete slab might have some chicken wire reinforcement within it. You could do some investigative work...do you have any water meter/access covers located nearby, e.g. on the public footpath. Pipes tend to run in straight lines from meters/access covers to the house. You could also try and locate the gas main by tracing the supply pipe back from your boiler...a plumber could help you out. You could also try contacting your gas/water supplier to see if they have any record drawings...sometimes title deeds have drawings with this info. Aprroximately how old is your property?
  11. I'm sure fans of French/Dutch clubs see Arsenal in a similar vein. The difference these days is that Arsenal, like Utd, aren't as high up in the food chain as they used to be...

  14. Are you 100% sure it's a digital TV? What is the make and model number?

  16. Thanks a lot for the offer EP, I'll be touch if all else fails! Last night I remembered I've still got my old Dell laptop stashed somewhere in the back of a cupboard. I know the CDs used to open on that, so I'm going to try that later. Thanks for the tip DJKQ, unfortunately it didn't do the trick, still thinks it's a blank CD :)
  17. The switchover was from analogue to digital signal, nothing to do with HD. If you have a digital TV you just need to retune it, consult your handbook. If you don't have a handbook try Googling the TV's make and model number with key words like 'handbook' and/or 'retuning'. This link is helpful...
  18. Thanks for the feedback... Re. El Pipe...yes, but they will charge to do that, they wouldn't say how much as it's not a standard service, so I didn't take it any further...it would probably be a last resort if I couldn't open the CD on friends computers. Re. Ianr...yes, it shows 100% free space. I've tried burning a file to the CD but nothing happpens, not even an attempt...aren't these type of CDs overwrite protected anyway? Re. Loz...good point, but it was a sort of calculated risk. The CD I tried to format only had 8 pics on it and I have negs as back up. I thought by trying to format it, it may register a warning first, thereby acknowledging that there were files on the CD before wiping them...I just don't understand why my laptop thinks the CDs are blank.
  19. Credit to Chelsea, their game plan worked on the narrow Stamford Bridge pitch, but it will be a lot harder to replicate that on Barca's massive pitch...
  20. I have some photo CDs, that when I try to open them on my Sony Vaio laptop, it thinks the CDs are blank. The CDs were developed by Snappy Snaps about 10 years ago, so I went to their Camberwell branch. They popped them into one of their instant print machines and the photos appeared, therefore the CDs aren't blank. I asked them if it was because I was using Windows Vista, and the CDs were produced under a different OS e.g. Windows 98, but they said it shouldn't make a difference. I've tried reformatting the CDs, but everytime my laptop says it is unable to complete the formatting. I have no problems when I play an audio CD or DVD, so I'm presuming the driver is ok. I know if I can successfully open the CDs on another computer, I will be able to transfer the photos onto a USB memory stick, and then download them onto my laptop, but before I go down that route I was wondering if anyone knew what the problem might be...
  21. I agree Jah, and a lot of the credit should go to their chairman Dave Whelan...many others would've lost their nerve in January. If 'arry does get the England job, Martinez along with Brendan Rogers should be a candidate for Spurs manager, but if I was a Spurs fan I would want Moyes. I think after 10 years he will leave Everton this summer. Without investment I don't think he can take Everton any further...he cut a very deflated figure after the semi-final.

  23. SJ wrote... Something much bigger?...didn't have you down as a conspiracy theorist SJ :) I'm sure Fergie will have a quiet word with him. Re. Spurs' goal yesterday...had the referee given the penalty and sent Cech off, rather than playing advantage that led to the goal, it may have been a different outcome.
  24. Do you not have any spare tiles left over? If not, you should be able to get hold of some from whoever did the tiling or the supplier...that way you can try out various remedies without worrying about damaging your path tiles.
  25. I think you're doing the right thing Rosie by starting with the 60's. I would then get progressively more modern as the day goes on, a sort of musical anthology of each decade, on the assumption that the 'young un's' will be the only ones still standing/awake post midnight, and will want to dance to music that they know...just bung on some Ministry/Hacienda/Cream mixes. Sites like this are quite useful to get an overall snapshot of what was popular at the time... Forgot to ask, how are you playing the music...individual CDs or can you create your own playlists through iTunes?
