  1. What a great way of letting Foxtons know about it. There's bound to be at least one of them lurking or even posting. (Mind you, I find that kind of thing childish and ineffective, so if they are looking, I hope they'll take approprite action to avoid waste and expense on their part.) Nero
  2. I'd love to know more about him, Chav. Is he the only one of his kind in London? Nero
  3. Well, is there a green-fingered type who knows what kind of plant would work in there? (No municipal pansies, please.) Something green and foliage-heavy, hardy. If it's yuo, why not offer them your help? Nero
  4. Agree with Barry. I know it sounds inconsequential and effete, but a few new hardy plants, a clean up of the chairs and tables and it will look a lot better and more inviting. I'm not a great pub goer, but I have been in there a few times and liked it. The staff were good, the beer was nice and the crisps had grooves. But it just looks unkempt. (I speak as one who thinks places like teh Bishop and Black Cherry are wrong in terms of being too froo-froo.) Nero
  5. Another deli? It can't possibly make money with all the food and stuff we have on that street. Nero
  6. The growth in speeding links in with that of people not stopping at zebras and bus drivers and the like going through reds, and speeding up when they see an amber light. If people don't stop for me at zebras I wave at them, and it clicks. Nero
  7. I went in today and asked the carpenter what it was going to be and he said 'a staircase'. He was being funny, pointing to the what he was working on. Then he said he had no idea waht the shop would become. Nero
  8. I asked a man at the garden centre about its possible demise. He went away to ask and came back to tell me that it would be at least two years before the place would close. Nero
  9. Vory finny.
  10. Just seen that there is a thread down below. Could Mr Admin delete this one? Ta.
  11. Val Shawcross and Tessa Jowell might like to know about people's transport experiences. I too have noticed that the buses are busier than they used to be, which is why I take the 63 and avoid Walworth Road (shudder). Nero
  12. Monsieur with this beret-clad, walking stereotype, you are really spoiling us. I refer to the presumably French onion seller outside the butcher's shop, complete with 'Allo 'Allo style bike and onions on strings. He was also on the other side of the road on a corner a bit earlier. Is he new? Nero
  13. Ahem! It's not 'mural', it's 'muriel'. Tch! Everyone knows that!
  14. My bedroom is dry but bright. There's a lot of dust and it gets quite warm, which is why my yucca and palm have not done well in there. What's a good one to put in such a place? My money tree died a death, too. Any advice, with non-Latin names, would be appreciated! Nero
  15. It's mainly the latter, but I do choose which shops to give them to with more feeling. I mainly give to Mind. I also make sure that the stuff is good and not cack. If it is, I put it in the textile recycling boxes. Doesn't it show that we have too much cack, though? Nero
  16. I'm happy that they get first dibs if they pay, but Clare's post made out she was happy for them to take stuff without paying. That's not right, even if it is not a huge crime. Nero

It's all part of a campaign to being less passive. I've also decided to text much less and to phone instead, even if I get an ansaphone. Also, I didn't have 72 friends at all. I had 72 people who I know at least somewhat, on a scale of pass in the office once a fortnight to sleep with on a daily basis. Sure, I've made contact with some people, but all I've done is exchange a couple of hastily typed paragraphs with them. I'm partly responsible for not taking it further, I know, but there's an awful lot of fakeness about Facebook (Fakebook, anyone?). Nero
  18. If they've had to cross over the kerb to get on the pavement, then an offence has been committed. (Cf the thread on the hifi shop.) Agree that Forest Hill Road is a dump in parts. Have spoken to Cllr Richard Thomas about it. Please contact the local councillor for that area if you are displeased with it. The blue corner dump and the old yellow and blue cafe next to the barber are particular eyesores, but the rest of it is pretty horrid, too. Nero
  19. Walked past about twenty minutes ago, and saw no more than five punters in there. Most were watching the big TV screen that was showing footy. Nero
  20. Ordered? Or asked? Nero

You are right, Asset. I decided to opt out of emails from people so noone will be able to get in touch with me. I just felt a bit of a tool at the age of 40 being sent cutesy pictures and unfunny video clips. It just brought out the contrarian in me. Nero
  22. I've deactivated my account. Was sick of its basic inanity. I've got a phone, a mobile, two email accounts and a house address , so I think I'll be OK. Anyone else care to join me? Nero
  23. I used to have a telly in my room, and did watch telly, but it was usually decent films or those progs that might have made you blush if watched with mum et al. I still watch too much shit, but I can't read all the time! I think kids shouldn't have one in their room until they're teenagers, by which time they'll not be addicted. Nero
  24. Oona King. Completely self obsessed. No longer an MP but cannot bear to me away from the limelight, hence her Portillo-like forays into documentary making and punditry. Nero
  25. Oh Clare, get real. Just because they are doing a 'nice' thing doesn't preclude them from acting properly. Nicking stuff that punters have given to the shop to raise money for a good cause is not excusable. If you employ your reasoning, you'd be saying it's ok for the cops to pocket a few baubles recovered from a nasty thief because the job they do is hard and demanding. Nero
