seems Heber cant do right for doing wrong - if they hadn't sent out the text having had the information and another incident occurred, folk would have been up in arms. As a receiver of the text myself it was very alarming and even if the details point to a 'lesser' incident, I'd rather have the text than not. Whatever the real details of the incident, the yound lad did exactly the right thing, refusing the lift and reporting it to his school - his school saw (rightly IMO) that they had a responsibility to share the information with other local schools (sydenham is very local, hardly 'another part of South London' which implies much further afield than SE26...).

I always find threads like these a little odd (sorry), there was another a while back on 'what is the 'best' age gap to have between kids'. Numbers are irrelevant and what works for one family could be hellish for another. I guess I'm also sensitive to those that dont have that choice, many would love to debate the pros and cons of having more kids based on financial or logisitical issues, but they simply dont have that choice or expectation.....

I am going to try my damnest to join you all this Saturday, a combination of house moves (yes plural), 5-yr old's illness and trips to hospital for me:( have meant I haven't managed to make a meet-up yet. So all being well I will be at the Plough this Saturday and I'll aim to get there for 1pm as well to meet the earlier 'birds' Sarah and Rachael....... Looking forward to it Kristy x

Hello ladies, I've been in hiding for a while and not made any of the meet-ups. Anyhoo, I would really like to meet some/all(?) of you over the next few weeks and am around for coffee most Fridays, some Thursdays and will definitely try to make the next Saturday meet. Hope everyone is feeling well! xx

goodrich and heber school times-pick up from both?
kristymac1 replied to ludoscotts's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Heber reception are normally out at 3.20 on the dot - often a few minutes earlier on a Friday and last day of term ;-) -
I introduced my daughter to solids at 4 months, this was when advice was not to do so until 6 months. I went on what I believed my baby needed at the time - I introduced solids slowly and for a long time her main source of nutrition was milk. Official advice changes all the time, go with your instinct.... x

nurseries and primary schools - moving to the area
kristymac1 replied to sallybash's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I would say there are no schools you should actively avoid - everyone has a preference of course (usually the one their little one is in ;-)). Depending on which side of Underhill, you should be in catchment (whatever that is!) for Goodrich, which has a new head teacher, or if further up the hill you may be in catchment for Horniman school? We are extremeley lucky to have good primary schools across ED, we could do with one (or two) more though - the schools are running out of space to bulge........ Good luck with the move x -
The Plough is probably a better bet for the 10th March - especially if there's a number of toddlers to entertain too, Gavin (the manager) may even let us use the toddler stuff they have for the Plough baby club if we ask nicely ;-). I'd really like to be there and hopefully will make it - we're in the process of moving house (to acommodate new bub!). How is everyone feeling? I'm feeling particularly enormous today - met for a coffee with my colleague who is 1 week ahead of me and she has this lovely neat (little) bump on her gorgeous size 8 frame and I look like some gigantic pregnant elephant-sized woman :( x

Hi, My daughter celebrated her 5th birthday today and we hired Juggling Joolz, superb magician, juggler, all-round kids entertainer! She was fab, kept the kids thoroughly engaged and very happy for over 2 hours. I booked her based on recommendations on here and we were not disappointed, she was great - highly recommended!! You can contact her on 07963 447178, or email at [email protected] We also used the room upstairs at the Mag, which was great - staff couldn't have been more friendly/helpful.

Hi Biddls, the more the merrier! I missed saturday meet-up too but will def try to make the next. I had an unexpected but happy peak at baby again yesterday (thanks to being hospitalised with food poisoning/stomach virus - joyous!) - coming up for 15 weeks - the scan was so much clearer than just 2 weeks ago - lovely! btw, I'm not normally such a 'sicknote' ;-) Have a good week everyone xx

Goverment childcare vouchers and nurseries...help!!
kristymac1 replied to Katiesa's topic in The Family Room Discussion
when the nurseries say they offer the 15 hours pro-rata, could they mean that they spread the 15 x38 weeks over 52 weeks (most private nurseries operate out of school term). When my daughter was at nursery, the weekly fee was not reduced by the equivalent of 15hrs, simply because the 15 hours over 38 weeks was spread out over 50 weeks - does that make sense? Otherwise we'd have been paying a different weekly fee for term-time vs out of term time which would have been a pain. -
Hmmmm all a bit inconclusive re agave nectar, to be honest I didnt get too much info on what I ould and couldnt eat (apart from carb sugars). My levels seem ok with complex carbohydrates but go haywire with refined sugars. I did some research on t' web re agave nectar and it looks like a no-no for certain T2 diabetes with risk of heart disease etc..... nothing's ever straight forward is it? Still not to worry only 25.5 weeks to go :'(....... Have fun on Saturday, eat a great big choc brownie for me! x
-
Thanks for your support/advice ladies - much appreciated and I will definitely check out whether I can substitute sugar with agave nectar - have diabetic clinic tomorrow and will report back! I can't make saturday which is a shame as I am easily recognisable - my bump is HUGE (unforunately most people agree with me ;-) ) and I'm only 14 weeks. Hope everyone has slid gracefully into the second trimester..... Hugs xx

Ideas for a march holiday with a 20mnth toddler
kristymac1 replied to Katiesa's topic in The Family Room Discussion
what do you class as a long flight? If you could manage 4 hours, the canarie islands are particularly nice in March - warm, not hot, dry, not too busy........ -
Hello, can I join :-) ? Been holding off posting, but had my scan today and all well (12 +2 so due beginning/mid August) and kicking like a donkey! I have an almost 5 yr old daughter, I would love to meet up at some point, I'm fairly restricted at the moment but at the very least I'm looking forward to sharing updates on here. Good luck to everyone, here's to happy & sticky beans...... Kristy x

kristymac1 replied to Belle's topic in The Family Room Discussion
depends where you are on Friern, but I would think Goodrich would be closest or St Anthony's (catholic) -
looking for a very hands-free independent midwife
kristymac1 replied to barabolja's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I'd recommend Verona Hall Verona Hall she was my independent midwife and was absolutely wonderful - she is hugely experienced and so would give you total confidence in leading the birth experience yourself. She's local (lives in ED), give her a call for a chat x
