Advice on camcorders please? I'm stumped by all the specs
kristymac1 replied to kristymac1's topic in The Lounge
That would be my choice (so I get to have a go to!) but the request is for a flip screen *sigh*. I may just have to put the Gopro on my santa list.... Thank you everyone for your help - I think I've narrowed it down to this https://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/cameras-and-camcorders/camcorders/camcorders/digital-camcorders/panasonic-hc-v180eb-k-camcorder-black-10142645-pdt.html It's affordable and apparently has a minimum recording distance of 3cm - my daughter's arms are longer than that! Advice on camcorders please? I'm stumped by all the specs
kristymac1 replied to kristymac1's topic in The Lounge
Thanks for your replies - I did indeed mean vlog (daft autocorrect) She has a decent smart phone (better than mine anyway),but 'apparently' they're not great for videos/selfie videos. The DSLR camera I have is too big for her needs - also a bit expensive, we're really after something fun but functional of a budget around ?200 -
Hi, My daughter is very keen on making short videos and would really like a decent (but affordable) camcorder. There's loads out there but what I've no clue about is whether she can use a camcorder to video 'selfie' vlogs - is it dependent on focal length? Any advice greatly received, I really am clueless....

Potager on Peckham Rye/Dunstans Road closed today, lease forfeited.... -
By the way the Heber Christmas fair is on December 9th 2-5pm, and many of the other primary schools have their fairs around this time to - its a good way to get a different aspect of the school and there are always plenty of parents running stalls that would be happy to chat about their views on the school.
-
I have two children at Heber (yr 6 and yr 1) and am very happy with the school, the senior leadership team are very visible and approachable and I'm sure if you have any outstanding questions from the tour they'd be very happy to meet you to chat things through. We've found the standard of teaching to be very good across the years, but have been particularly impressed with the way in which my youngest has settled and blossomed - in no small part because of the excellent foundation years teaching. My eldest is embarking on secondary school next year and whilst she'll be sad to leave Heber, the last 6 years at the school have provided everything she needs to enter secondary school confident with her learning and self-esteem. Good luck with your choice!

I think Just William's does them, or certainly used to... -
No PMs at all (apart from those shared between me and Monkey). We've submitted our application and Harris Girls is on the list, it's not first choice but that's mainly because my daughter has no reference point there where-as she knows lots of kids at other schools. Harris Girls results (actual and pupil progress) are some of the best around - if she gets a place there I'm confident she will do well there....

I was also impressed and thought the new head was great, very 'real', the girls showing us round were polite and engaging and the teachers (particularly English and art) were really useful to talk to. I'd also like some first hand experience info please, again PM is fine

We have a quote for just over ?1k (6-7 days work - 1 guy) to do our hall stairs and landing which includes both sides of 6 doors (new, primed doors but the frames were in a bit of a state), banister/spindles and all other woodwork (skirting boards/radiator cover, hall cupboard etc) - the walls are in excellent nick but some of the woodwork needs attention. Our guy has recently painted our kitchen/family room and done a really decent job so we've booked in him to do the rest!

It was open on saturday - there's a new manager and the building work doesn't encroach on any of the equipment. I was chatting with the new manager though and it seems there is some uncertainty as to its future funding. I think its a fantastic resource for kids and families and would be interested to know from the local Councillor Renata Hamvas whether there's any justification for the guys running it to feel vulnerable.... -

Advice please - School Reception Vs Nursery Preschool
kristymac1 replied to tarafitness's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I think he will need to be in reception the term he turns 5, so I'm not sure you'll have the option to stay in pre-school, I may be wrong but the new laws regarding delayed start apply to children born 1st April and later, therefore a December born child will turn 5 in the term which starts September... -
Another shout for Take Flight Academy , its really very good, there are a mixed range of kids and everybody gets equal chance to shine - it's fun, gentle (not massive intake), fantastic for confidence and run by really lovely teachers.
