There has been a delay in publishing the report apparently, was supposed to be released on Oct 22, hopefully it will be released on Monday.

There is an agency 'womenlikeus.Co.uk' who specialise in genuine part time positions for women, the roles are often at 'middle management' level. I work for a professional body and have worked across this sector for 15 years and my experience is that the sector is fairly accommodating in terms of part time and/or flexible working. Good luck!

That's what you read from my post? Anyway, I'm sure folk are bored with this exchange - back to the important information on how to apply for the 120 Charter places.... -

It's equally depressing to read > people who say that criticising them is 'boring'. I've never suggested that any organisation responsible for the running of schools should be exempt from scrutiny, my point was really that many local kids go to Harris schools (some not by choice) and it must be pretty disheartening to hear your school critisized time and time again. BTW, I don't think your posts are boring ITATM... -

intexasatthe moment Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Yes ,looks like Harris get their way again . > Living up to their promise to > > " challenge any decisions to proceed with all > the means available to us" . The Charter ED website states that the reason for the 120 intake in the 'first year/s' is due to space available at the temporary site, nothing to do with Harris' challenge... Charter ED won't be the educational saviour for everyone in east dulwich and given many kids choose to go/will choose to go to Harris schools, the constant vilification of Harris is at best disheartening, not to mention really boring. -
Nigello Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- I like that there is mixed business and not too much food-and-drinkery. That strip is good because of its variety. I like having a DIY shop, a dentist, an old fashioned caff, a pub, a Co-Op (despite its eccentricities) a PO and a barber's shop etc., as well as restaurants and bistros. That's why I love it - it's a useful strip of shops (2 pharmacies as well). The Herne garden is having a major overhaul too... ------------------------------------------------------- It could be made even better if the pavements were made even and perhaps a few trees - even in planters - were put in. Totally agree and it shouldn't cost a fortune - I wonder whether Southwark's CGS would be worth approaching for funds - I think I'll make some initial enquiries, perhaps a bid from local residents and business owners?
-
Oo that sounds interesting... this strip has so much potential. The old dentist premises has been sold and the chap at the DIY store next door is (sadly) retiring and is selling up, but hopefully the premises will be occupied by something good. New cafe by the turkish supermarket, 'new' french bistro (currently BYO) , all good stuff!

Heber School uniform question
kristymac1 replied to Northern Star's topic in The Family Room Discussion
You will be fine with the plain polo shirts. You can also buy iron-on heber logos for jumpers and cardigans directly from the school - I much prefer to buy plain jumpers/cardigans for my daughter and attach the iron-on (which also benefit from being stitched ) logos - the shape and material of the school jumpers and cardies doesn't suit my daughter. The school has 2 inset days on Tuesday and Wednesday 1/2 September but the office staff may still be available to take calls/enquiries - might be better than trying to purchase on first day back amongst the rush..... -
Mother Goose Greendale reassurance?
kristymac1 replied to Jayyfa's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I think most nurseries close for a few weeks a year, if its only 4 then that's similar to holidays taken by a childminder. We just took our annual leave when the nursery was closed (and we knew well in advance so could plan accordingly). Now our daughter is at school, the 13 weeks of school holidays are more tricky to navigate! Good luck and as others have said, trust your instinct x -
Can anyone reccomend a private midwife?

Another recommendation for Verona - she delivered my daughter at home 8 years ago and we're still friends today. -
Number 2 and anxiety in 3yr old boy
kristymac1 replied to midivydale's topic in The Family Room Discussion
We had a similar problem with our little one, he ended up very constipated and in a lot of pain because he didn't want to sit for long on the loo - he'd happily sit on the toilet but if it didn't happen instantly like a wee, he'd say 'can't do it' and jump off :-(. After the severe constipation I would sit him on the potty at the coffee table and get toys out/read books/watch tv (its a chair like potty) so he'd feel more comfortable sitting for longer periods of time. Eventually it got better and now he happily sits on the loo until he's finished (and very proudly too!). Please don't blame yourself either, potty training for my son was very different for my daughter and every book out there has a different 'guaranteed method' - non of which particularly worked for either of my kids. Good luck, sounds like you're doing everything right for him. -

Did it every > day, really quick and quiet. That's pretty much my daily commute, except I turn off Wells way and cycle through the park, down the old surrey canal path and onto Rye Lane - from Fleet Street its about 35mins (for me - suspect others do it quicker!).

largeginandtonic Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Kristy, you don't need to look very far to find > evidence of a push for this sort of nodal point - > read the two posts above yours! I know there are lots of people who want different things, but for a local Councillor to wrongfully inform local schools, whipping up fear and hysterical feelings is, imo, totally wrong, and even more worrying that she is directly affected by the admissions criteria. There are many people who won't have the chance of getting in, from lots of surrounding areas, that's just the way it is. But I'd like to see a proper consultation considering the views of everyone with an equal opportunity to respond and any data gathered during the whole process - that's just fair isn't it? -

A shameful piece of self-serving propaganda which has contributed massively to the horribly divisive situation we now have. -
Could you give a synopsis edmummy? Seems pretty unreasonable given the number of other schools that use it (no objection to that), but it's Harris boys 'back yard'....

James, at the recent consultation meetings, Charter's proposal is to site the nodal point in the far north East corner of the site (Jarvis road), quite a distance north and away from the bulk of residents in East Dulwich than we were originally led to believe (and seemingly still your understanding) -

I don't know, but it would be good to know the rationale for selecting jarvis Road, essentially right on the border of se22/se5. It's charter East Dulwich isn't it? There are many se22 postcodes who won't be served well by this nodal point. > > If the fear is that the new Charter will have a > very small catchment (1km) then it can't capture > SE22, Peckham Rye,and Nunhead. Simon I'm interested to know why Jarvis Road has been selected as the appropriate point from which to measure admissions. Thanks -
Kate who works at dog kennel Hill adventure playground (kateland on here I think) is a fantastic face painter, we hired her after seeing her at a friends party. She's brilliant with the kids as well, lovely lady
