I am absolutely with SJ here. Redknapp is an old dinosaur whose many views on life are maybe MAYBE understandable even if not forgivable (see also Atkinsone etc). Mackay is 41 for f*ck sake, that's 10 years younger than me, and works in an 'industry' where 40%ish of the players are from ethnic minorities. I find it really quite depressing this these pathetic, juvenile and, at the bottom-line, racist crap is still so prevalent in the game. If someone acted like that in my company they would be out on their ear, rightly so.
  4. I am sure it's great but do we need two foooking threads on how great it is?

This is brilliant - well worth a look for a laugh, 70s footballers at home...spot old saggychops Harry before Sandbanks - most of their homes look pretty suburban compared to today's (my not especially rich cousins used to live next door to Sir Tev so I guess it shows how things have changed) ..... in some ways (most of the wives still look a bit Wagish) http://www.theguardian.com/football/gallery/2014/aug/21/memory-lane-1970s-footballers-at-home-in-pictures
  11. your Irish Mick - you tend to roll up bar/pub as the same type of establishment, when they aren't

I think you need a proper pubby bit to qualify as a gastropub, hence I agree that Franklins isn't really a pub at all. All subjective of course.

  22. My dad had a great story where he moved a sofa from Whitechapel to Mile End (big, haevy duty old style thing) and he bought the lifters a pint at every pub they passed, which they drank sitting on the sofa....if they went straight up the Whitechapel Road that's a fook of a lot of pubs, or was in 1960.
