Getting a bit grey, though. As we're boasting - me too, and I'm over half a century... Plus almost no grey - although certain Forumites* and many of my mates accuse me of 'touching it up', which is a small thing that cause me rational rage *Irish greyish ones especially :)

is this the good lines thread?

I get annoyed with that and numbers, specifically dates. Surely it should be th 1980s not the 1980's - as 1980's has a separate meaning as in "1980's summer was especially wet"?

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz Thanks again Mick, cracking thread to start

Bloody Enormous Things That Cause You Rational Rage

People who call Football Footie -
But anecdotally and logically - the top 10% contains all of those that tax rate went up from 40 to 45% and all those families that lost Child Benefit. Not making a political point - I think that both of those measures were OKayish in the circumstances, but I think you're confusing the super-rich and PLC board members/CEs with the top 10% when there are big differences. Clearly the top 10% still earn far more than the bottom 10% by a massive margin....but the vast majority of them (the top 10%) haven't got richer in income terms.

The Institute for Fiscal Studies, quoted on the BBC I can't get the link up but it's on the BBC News site today "Why aren't I feeling better?" , Anthony Reubens

At the other end of the spectrum, the household at the 10th percentile has seen a ?2 per week increase....

To be fair, the comments are quite funny (although they may be the work of Right wing trolls). And as Strafer says this isn't the Guardian propa..the author(ess)- I presume that's sexist? - is apparently a lecturer in some media studies type degree in a 2nd rate ex-poly, which is encouraging..... that not that bright 19 year olds, getting into debt they'll never pay to be 'taught' by this academic excellence... *gone to the dogs, etc*

...but, The Stag at Ford in Wiltshire (near Combe Castle) used to be great (not to far off M4), picturesque and about half way

I wouldn't get on the M5 if you're heading to South wales unless you want to go somewhere else!

I wasn't quite sneaking into pubs age and speed was mystical thing we dreamed of - But drinking Cider, smoking No6 and ripping up the plastic union jack flags that were everywhere to stick on our jackets to pogo to GSTQ - The Sex Pistols, is my memory. -

And theotocracies too have hardly much comfort for the state of Israel (ISIS and their Caliphate...now where are they on the existance ofIsrael?). The future's grim because most people in the region don't want Israel there, Full Stop. And this combined with the extremes of two religons (one which increasingly combines martydom with its fanatiscm) and the other which claims the Old Testament gives it a holy right to land rather than International Law. Siege mentality, matrydom and religous fanaticism - I can't see it ever ending until we get rid of religon......

Yeah, Yeah, Yeah - The Story of Modern Pop. On the recommendation of my favourite 'spatster', Straefer - absolutely magnificent, although a tome rather than a quick light read, have been dipping in and out (with you tube/spotify to hand) as well as reading chronologically away from the ipda and both work well, will be using this as a reference for years. Thanks SJ. Seasons in the Sun: 1974-1979, Dominic Sandbrook. A fantastic history of the late 70s (following his TV programme), showing just how broken Britain was getting then and the conflicts - from war on the terraces, bail out by the IMF, the height of Union power, mainland bombings and anarchy in NI; the rise of the militant left and right, Punk, corrupt coppers, etc etc fantastic *spoiler, not very polite about a recently departed 'saint' of the left! 3rd edit to add just seen the fella's already recommended it too! Both recommended

Against a generalisatio, plenty; against an individual poster, very rarely - although in 10k posts there are a few instances I suspect....
