  1. So. Let,s just stick with what we,ve got and close ranks eh and ....quite a lot of us aren,t actually that impressed with what the monopolisttic LEAs offers or certainly offered to be frank.....politics and propaganda works both ways and vested interests are at both end of this debate. I tend to question the agenda of those that constantly attack any attempt at reform by nature.

I know it's a cliche but i think the Hammers game today is pivotal. It's a 6 pointer, at home and if we lose....or even draw....then a gap starts to open. Quite nervous.
  3. Me and Straefer are old...my primary school had 3 rooms, 3 classes, 90 kids, and two years per class....still reckon our gramma is better than wot yours is
  4. Foxy, Why don't you get your computer and write some code that: - meets the need for the shortage of primary schools places in SE22 - is safe - doesn't need any air conditioning - doesn't create any extra traffic - takes advantage of the what's actually available on the market in terms of space at the moment - doesn't spoil any quiet residential roads - is conveniently located for the people who need it ...should take a clever bloke like you about 5 mins or so

  7. We have free banking, no-one switches and the internet is the way forward. Many of them would be delighted to offload a bunch of retail as it's expensive to run and outdated. Metro - they've done well Tesco bank forging ahead Vigin - in the top 5 in a matter of time NOT We get exactly what we deserve......
  8. ...but they will try and avoid causing widespread defaults, a lragely political decision

  11. I am unconvinced rates will go up dramatically for a long time - we live in change times macroeconomically/politically Significant interest rates rises will also potentially a) lead to serious social/political 'problems', the banks may have got away with 'it' in 2008 but the mass repossessions associated with big hikes (or proably just a couple of percentage points) would have some serious, serious issues politically...... and potentially for capitalism. b)ultimately it will bust many banks again if a housing bust resulted from the above Inflation will be allowed to get higher rtaher than any significant hike in interest rates IMO Western Economies are still in intensive care.......(and worryingly there's some suggestions that the BRIC/MINTS are going that way too)

  19. ....and there we have it, Middle Class guilt, one of the most destructive forces for the working class, ever.....
  20. So why are most sociologists middle-class? Discuss
  21. So, Otta and Ratty, good working class lads, and I love them both, moan about gentrification but in both cases their favourite times here were in the pre-recession early 2000s when prices were going absolutely through the roof round here, and easily the time when the demographic of SE22 changed the most!!! Don't up add lads...you should look at what's going on in you lives fellas, i suspect that's where the changes are really. Times changes all, that's all that's happened, fooking everywhere, and some people have rose tinted glasses about the past. Embrace the change. Mick, how is your lawn?

Platini's fall from one of my heroes to corrupt, interfering, I know best bureaucrat has been terrible. Absolutely magnificent footballer and in 1986ish when England played the ROW to mark some centenary he famously turned down any fee as "i've never had the honour of playing at Wembley in my career" in contrast to Maradonna who asked for some outrageous payment...But now.......
  23. ..Oh and The Foresters
  24. When I first lived here(1993) and didn't have kids it was a nice place to live and cheap. To go out then, with the honourable exception of the Comedy Club upstairs at thh East Dulwich Tavern (NOTE not EDT), it was a bit dull but not dangerous or anything, just quiet drink territory, and i drunk in most - Clockhouse, Herne, LP, East Dulwich Tavernt and the Crystal Palace Tavern, if i went out then locally I went out in Camberwell and eventually moved there. I always thought it would come up but missed the transformation to a going out area by virtue of being in a far more happening place (imo) Camberwell, when I had kids I came back over the hill again (2007). Doesn't seem as funky now to me as then but then I was never here when it was 'funky' (alledgedly) or have had kids so don't really go out enough to comment...
