  7. Mick Mac's dry months only last about 10 days and given that as a precedent and the snow you could open it today as a 'special occasion'

    Snow go

Given how crap London dealt with it last 2 times I can understand a bit BUT this time there was plenty of warning and it's falling very slowly and lightly albeit continually. I presume a hardened Jock such as yourself maybe just slipped on a light coat today?
  9. It's falling consistently but not heavily, so IF it stays like this I imagine the main roads will be fine as traffic will wash it all away. It's not pouring just very light but continual snow which is settling on pavement/parked cars. I am just popping out so I may be sometime.
  10. Dry, white and cold - a habit picked up in Seville. I think the good quality supermarket ones are fine for my palate.

  19. US energy prices are dropping significantly because of shale gas in particular and they don,t have a minimum wage or much of a welfare state to give people an alternative so manufacturing is 'easier' to get back to the US(plus it's got itself as a massive market right there>)
  20. To add to Huge's analysis the rise of consumers in the developing world also adds to demand for products and services that we still offer (and still some with a competitive edge)

  24. I must admit an economy where we don't seem to pay enough workers enough so that they need to have their incomes topped up by benefits strikes me as a bit mad and inefficient. We'll pay you x quid an hour and then top it up via tax credits just must be inefficeient? I have changed my views on the minimum wage too, paying people a decent wage in the first place so they are less likely to need state handouts and am less convinced than I used to be that this'll damage our international competitiveness. Also, given that over the years i have moved to a position where I have considered voting Tory, David C and others unplasant rhetoric about those on benefits is making that option less palatble and whilst normally I ignore all the stuff about 'posh boys' etc, in this case you do really wonder.....moving to the right is suicide for the torise in my opinion and i thought Osboune and Cameron raelised that, got spooked by UKIP methinks Although I do agee with MM, the continual bashing of 'the rich', 'businessmen (never woman, note) bankers et al by many on the left is just as prejudiced and harmful.
