The market will decide - what does this mean?
???? replied to silverfox's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Did you type that out with a straight face? -
The yanks have form on Students, Kent State etc. Infact the yanks have form on most anti-capitlism protest, so it's not a huge shock.

....can you tell me* *would be in very small type if I knew how to do that small type thing** **Don't tell me, I can google it

Some of us don't do that on principle...prefferring our shaky old memories and own thought Moos :))- like to see its use banned from the Drawing Room for a start, we'd lose half the contributors

Actually, I sort of agree with the OP

Isn't the proper quote "He who is not a socialist at the age of 20 has no heart, he that is still a socialist at the age of 30 has no brain" and it's not BA

Watched it for the first time for a few weeks - Janet has not moved on at all and the cheek of Mr Barlow asking for acts to do something different when Marcus does the cheeky chappie soul anthem every week! But, LOL at Tulisa apparently a star of RnB and a MOBO winner? saying "I didn't really recognise the song" to one of the acts....the song ladies ans gentleman being Aretha Franklin's RESPECT.....I guess that's what you get with teenage judges. And also only recognise 3 celebrities in the Jungle celebrity thing one less each year Hopefully this lot of shows (that have entertained me in the past) are now all approaching past sell by date - feels it to me.

From the sprinng 2011 summary....'currently' oh dear oh dear, even then I notice that the 26% of Europeans who thought that the EU was best posed to sort out the Financial crisis in spring 2010 had already fallen to 21% then. Are you aware even vagely what's going on back over here? I'd Like to see this done now. You really think you'd get those findings today? REALLY? Cut and pasting some out of date charts and misconstruing them and representing them as current fact doesn't suggest much for your grasp of the situation or is just being deliberately obtuse. Your reliance on cherry picked googled 'facts' perhaps suggests less ability to do some thinking yourself. Can I remind you this thread is about the Euro and I'm just responding to your last post to me, a fairly rational way of operating unless I tediously copy your last post to me and then add comment.... may have been a week ago but just scroll up if you can't remember that far back. Anyway, So how is the Euro proving a success in the grand scheme of things? What was good about the way it was set up? I don't need a lectureon the principles of monetary union, I understand them, I would just like to know how you think the Euro is panning out for Europe plaese? Have the rational criticims as mentioned numerous times on this thread (but not ever addressed by you) of the Euro infact not been proved true or not? Please answer this....rather than cut and paste some vaguely related old research and go off on an obscure point and harp back about parochialism, it's fucking rude slurring people continually and we know you have form on that shit. I've posted several times why, in my opinion, the euro was flawed at its conception and that I am in favour of being in the EU you never come back on these points - it's like some wanky 6th form balloon debate trying to discuss this with not trying to deal with reasonable arguments put to you just trying to change arguments, misconstrue, shift arguments, anything but a grown up debate. And then infer that I'm an inward looking bigoted parochial. What do you think of my vision - Which you asked for a few days ago? And I layed out in simple terms earlier Care to comment? Please answer somer of these questions it's tedious trying to debate with you You argue black is white and then say "no I was talking about pink" and go on and on about little englanders (another one of your subtle insults/slurs and 'tomato throwers), not even having the courtesy to say that you recognise that there were many people who just criticised the Euro on pratical/pragmatic grounds. And certainly not trying to address these or their points - I guess becuase you haven't got a decent argument against them and can't find a decent cut an paste on google. Some economist over here and even the ex-Editor of the FT have manned up and said they were wrong on the Euro, i suspect you may be the last man in the world saying how wonderful the Emperor's rags look....BECAUSE HUGE CANNOT BE WRONG Where are the names I called you in my last post by the way? I just pointed out your MO this. I sometimes wonder if in you do ever actually read any ones elses posts? I don't expect any direct answers to these points as normal. And like many others before me I'm rather sick of your teduious rude posturing.

Yup - interesting SJ, didn't think you'd be postin g investment bank reports :)) I liked this cooment below, don't think anyone ever thought shale gas would have such a big effect in the UK as it's had in the US, and that bank report is hardly news. Nevertheless, shale gas will have a big impact here. Opposition from environmentalists won't be much of a problem the way opinion and energy bills are going. This article is like a mirror image of the ones the Guardian's environment section does about such things as electric cars and wind power. Just as in those cases any speculative and hopeful opinions/facts and figures are used to talk up the topic, in this case we see a rather pathetic and desperate attempt to talk one down. Ideologically driven people do seem to see things in terms of black and white, good and evil. Could have been me if it had mentioned 'liberals' ;-)

My supspicion is that the good bergers of these here parts have made up their mind on this....I'm still open, but certainly suspicious of the 'tone' of the debate thus far...good/challenging article on this in the Spectator a few weeks back which isn't avaialble in full on-line but could get this follow up. Energy Debate You nmade up your mind yet? I don't think I have. Edited with link this time

ok. Agree, but I don't think it should be priority on the European table at this exact moment in time for obvious reasons. I think global dialogue on this is reasobnable, but remain a biy cynical about it every happenning (*see also Kyote? or whatever it was)

When you're in a hole stop digging Hugenot.....as an old Chancellor who had to go cap in hand to the INF once said. The Euro is doomed for all the reasons us 'tomato throwing' pragmatists pointted out and I have countless times on this thread and the other Euro one - you don't acknowledge or argue aginst these pragmatic realities you just make stuff up, insult or deliberately twist arguments Plus ca change My Vision of a Euro or a workable single currency is simply one that has A centralised bank/treasury with complete Fiscal authority and one chancellor/finance minsiter A centralised political system to go along with this The democratic support of the majority of the 'electorates' within this Then I'm in The Euro never had any of this and has been a dissater for us all and the ramifications will continue and possibly result in the actual break up of the EU....great vision

PS Globally, never gonna happen, so Osbourne was right to point out at the last finance ministers that European Finance ministers had more pressing issues to discuss than this pie in the sky. Talk about fiddling while Rome/Athens/Madrid?Dublin burns

The Germans and French would love it as 80% of it would be paid by us....for about a year....and then all the FEX operations etc would move elsewhere and not us or them would get a cent. Global, I'm in, without, never. Foook me if the lunatics ever get their hands on the keys this country will be like Greece...without the climate.

There's a massive, massive difference between generalisations, however lazy, and actually saying in writing on a public forum what you believe other named individual politics are and what they think presumably based on nothing more than a rather assumptive perception that anyone who crticies your sacred cows is some sort of crytpo-fascist. David as you've bought this up I 'm going to get this off my chest. I live and work in this community, many of my friends and neighbour are doctors, nurses and teachers, my Wife works in the Public Sector as did my mum. My kids are educated in the Public Sector, were born in it and my families health depends on it. You stated as fact that I wanted to dismantle it and far worse just becuase I posed a question about Public Sector Pensions sustainability. That was a slur and and an absolute fabrication based on no facts just presumably (and I give you the respect of presumption raher than making an assumption) your simplistic black and white view of my politics. I guess it it annoys you that I poke fun at the Guardian, I guess it annoys you that I tug at the smug hypocracy middle class liberals. Poke fun at some of my 'scared cows', if you can find them but don't tell a public forum what I actually think based on your world view, because you don't know and that's actually putting words in others mouths. I can generalise about the po-faced Guardian because there's some truth in it; I can generalise about Middle Class liberal guilt because there's some truth in it; i can argue about the danger of governments overspending becuase I believe that it is dangerous, and these things all get a reaction....but I can never say what Mr David Carnell thinks, because only he can....and that would be putting words in his mouth. DUCY?
