Nope, sorry *Bob* The biggest problem with Stevie is that, as Mr B alluded too, anyone under 40's exposure to him in their formative years are the soooooooooooooo awful, I just Called To Say I Love you, Lately, Happy Birtday (actually not quite so bad but only ok and horribly overplayed) and of course that awful deirge he did with Sir Paul. This is combined with musical snobism of white middle class music fans who don't really think that black Soul artists do anything that serious. The three albums mentioned the most (and bearing in mind Songs in the Key of Life is a double) are crammed full of innovative and experimental sounds which at the time were using cutting edge technnology, often for the first time AND packed with absolutely fantastic tunes, a few that don't work but not much treacly scmaltz. Talking Book, Innervisions and, For me esppecially , Songs in the Key of Life are up their with the best albums of that era without a doubt. And bearing in mind Wonder was reared in the Motown Hit Factory based on producing factory like (but often very good) hits to move into a completley new album based, experimental RnB sound was so innovative and unmatched by most of his contemperaries (Marvin Gaye maybe on What's Going on and Curtis Mayfield). Pseuds Corner anyone?

mmmm....equally as well I'm pretty convinced that, thanks to our press, a man that at absolute best can be described as an extremley agressive sexual predator would get anywhere near being our pm unlike Strauss Kohn, who, thanks in part to theie cosy and supplicant press was favourite to be next President. Or indeed let the pretty disgusting levels of , er, ahem 'patronage' that French presidents have handed out to relatives, lovers, etc etc.....Vive la difference etc. Makes me laugh how people on here and in general metropolitan types ae so disparagiing about our country and think Germany, France, italy etc are such beacons of deceny and morality

The market will decide - what does this mean?
???? replied to silverfox's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Of course market forces weren't allowed to do their thang in 2008, we all stepped in to save some banks -

Would set a worrying precedent, not been done before so why now (see other thread on Poppies for evidence of Poppy fascism) . For once I'm with the corrupt old tin pots from FIFA. AND...hasn't Dave 'bandwagon' Cameron got more pressing concerns than wasting time on this?

Can I out myself as a big fan of Stevie Wonder and the Smiths?,,,,,and, as I even texted you Mr B, the answer is Songs in the Key of Life

Moaning about people poeple needing to 'get a life' on Internet forums for being on internet forums without any sense of irony is brilliant. A couple of years ago I had a semi-stalker on here for about a week. Who posted 8 posts in total.... 6 were about me saying what a sad git and internet weirdo I was, made me chuckle

On QE I was reading the economist guy in the Standard yesterday and he (tongue in chhek - I think) suggested rather than QE we just gave every person in the UK ?3,000 (as that's the cost). That way we don't get the money stuck and 'lost' in the financiasl system just get it out in the real economy or paying off individuals debts......it's inflationary of course (as is QE) but it sounds like it'd be more likely to encourage Economic Growth....but maybe not prop up corporate/banking balance sheets....our dunderhead economic masters still think in Supply terms ie we'll inject ?150bn into the economy via this clumsy method.

It is a Ridiculous subsidy for middle class parents, absolutely mad in current circumstances....Labour Gonna spend for votesthough, it's in their DNA to buy votes 'till we're all bust. How critics of us critics of this can emote about ithers needing this as if 'we're not aware of poverty in the rest of the borough is laughable - thousands of families all over the borough don't need this at all thousands sd and they should get these resources not miidle class families. (See also Winter Fuel allowances for all pensioners etc). Those saying this should be universal are actually the selfish ones IMO. -

Hugenot's bizzarre logic strikes again.UK Companies get the advantages of the Euro in terms of a single currency so avoiding transaction costs etc BUT somehow this doesn't work the oither way back IE Eurozone customesr don't get the disadvantages of using Sterling to buy their goods/services from UK Companies???? so where's the parisitical part of this relationship? Huge, maybe it's your physical distance from Europe but in caes you hadn't heard there is a massive crisis going on as the people in ivory towers with 'vision' created a single currency without the neccessary fiscal and political centralisation and thus, completley predictably, the whole thing is collapsing under its unfirm foundations. You seem to be getting this point totally mixed up with arguing to with yourself about the principles of a single currency WHICH WE ALL BY AND LARGE UNDERSTAND and are not arguing about. The Euro has been a dissater not because its principle is flawed but because it wasn't set up properly....as its non-bigoted critics, including Mr Brown and Mr Balls, pointed out at its foundation. The irony is that the Euro has the potential of destroying the European Union rather than making it firmer which will be a disaster for us all. Give me pragmatism over idealism all day long.

Halloween - does anyone NOT let their kids trick or treat?
???? replied to newcomer's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I didn't have trick or taaeting as a youngster I';s clearly an american import But the fun in our household, out on the streets near us and random visits from wirtches/goblins etc ...I think you really have to be a big BAH Humbug not to let your kids enjoy this. Dressing up, sweets, answering the door to ghosts, knocking on other doors and all stopped when you take you pumkin inside....what's not to like. I wish I'd had it when I was young -
I think you can only do Multiples on individual matches/races on Betfair rather than champions etcs. Try the multiples Tab though
