My reggae story - early 70s the older lads at school and mates older brothers all old school skinheads so an introduction via Ska...but then not really that much exposure (when I first heard the name Bob Marley i thought he'd be like Peter Frampton or Eric Clapton as it sounded a very english name!). A lot of reggae around during the punk thing but really I was exposed to dub reggae via blues party's in Leicster, where a really good mate went to uni and our incessant search for grass led us to some great blues parties - aways friendly despite us effectively looking like white football hooligans (wedges and Fred Perrys) - although of course we had to pay to get in and probably a bit extra for a can of lager. Mark, I like some serious debate but with some lightness in it- the Drawing Room is too straight - the few serious debaters will love that but many posters are like me, i suspect, so I think ultimately the debates will miss opinions of many decent contributors whilst meanwhile the lounge gets dumbed down...just my opinion, but I think it's a mistake.
