  1. Also the Influenzia outbreak in 1919 took a lot of young lives especially those weakened by wounds... ...I spent the whole of my time at Karrabuchi Cemetry crying my eyes out at all these young men from various places in the UK buried in Thailand...the one that really sticks out was a 20 year old from somewhere up north with just.. .."he was a good son and a good lad just doing his duty" on it
  2. halting only twice for unwanted and unuseful traffic censuses
  3. er, Simon read my post in full... "When we started to get some results together, suddenly a group of clubs started to make noises about our 'light punsihment' and demanded points deduction. Funnily enough, with the exception of the ever odious spuds, these teams were all in the danger zone themselves. ....Towards the end of this sorry game of musical chairs most of the teams dropped out of threatening legal action as they moved out of danger just leaving two Sheffield United and Wigan" Plus you're on old news - if the reports are to be believed BBC, Independent, etc deal has been struck at ?10m over a number of seaons.....prior to next week as McCabe presumambly doesn't want to go there for 'some reason'........mmmm...interesting

  6. West Ham have paid up out of pragmatism....ie they need to get sold and this hanging over them isn't helping. So they offered McCabe a deal that he realised wouldn't get any better and many thought if this went the whole way he'd actually get nothing. west Ham fans are largely pissed off about this but except the Realpolitik of the situation. West Ham fans remains pissed off that we have branded cheats when this was originally a technichal cock up which we got punsihed for with a hefty fine and at that time everyone was quite happy with that as we were certains for relegation When we started to get some results together, suddenly a group of clubs started to make noises about our 'light punsihment' and demanded points deduction. Funnily enough, with the exception of the ever odious spuds, these teams were all in the danger zone themselves. Towards the end of this sorry game of musical chairs most of the teams dropped out of threatening legal action as they moved out of danger just leaving two Sheffield United and Wigan Finally Sheffield United went down and Wigan just offered lukewarm moral support Sheffield United's performance and points pick picked up in the last 10 games of that season were absolutely awful whereas West Ham won 7/10 including victories at Old Trafford and the Emirates It suits the utter sh1te Warnock - who is showing just what a great manager he is at Palace - to keep banging on about how West Ham were cheats as is deflects attention away from what a useless manager he proved in the Premiership, which, to be fair, many Sheffield United fans do realise. DFor McCabe it was always about the money. Thanks to the ongoing and largely false garbage pouring out from these two, the press and most other teams fans still seem to think that West Ham somehow cheated to stay up.... I hope something unpleasant happens to both of them

  9. Tony, it doesn't matter at all if you've got the money to move to the right area and don't have to go to the public sector for your housing needs.....my little girl is the only white girl in her nursery this was initially the nearest one to us in SE5 and we've decided to keep her there as she's happy and we like them...for my younger boy we've started to look at nurseries in SE22....yup......pretty white.. I can't stand prejudice on eany level but the sanctomonious, hypocritical drivel from affluent white middleclasses on how free they are from prejudice get's my goat up especially.....
  10. Well said Tony - I think that you have been treated very unfairly on this thread and people should be very very careful about hinting at and bandying around labels such as racist.....I would be extremley upset if I were you
  11. I haven't seen anyone say immigrants should get the boot...i've seen lots of posters jump down another posters throat because he didn't stick to the rules of the middle-class (white) dinner party...I think accusing someone of racism for being honest about their feelings about how the community they grew up in has changed (without as far as I can see making any judgement on this) is actually pretty prejudice....I'm going to post something that I did last year as I can't be arsed to rewrite this but I think the context holds true... "mmmmm.....fairly predictable stuff. Right - I can't stand the BNP and think their policies are laughable ...on the other hand I have old friends and relatives who are largely from or certainly have their roots in the east end and east London have 'seen', or at least 'feel' that 'their' communities have been 'swamped' and many have and are considering voting BNP, I argue with them about this but a frightening number of them will, at least in the local elections, vote BNP. The irony is that they are mainly traditional labour voters and , of course, mix, work, have neighbours, friends, relations and even partners who are from ethnic minorities....I dare say far more than smug, 'right-on' liberal SE22 which is hideously white and 'unswamped' by any stretch of the imagination...It makes me think that when largely decent hardworking white working class people are turning to the BNP then we should be brave enough to at least question some of the effects of continued mass immigration on our country without being branded 'racist'" Quids, April 2008

  14. 3 months and 2 year olds are indeed great walkers Bawdy-nun...especially when it's raining. The buses in rush hour are always welcoming of prams too..mmmm yes indeed..and have you actually ever checked out how many tube stations have lifts to help prams....bully for you and your patronising "the oldsters" crap...sounds like a load of bull to me,unless you just stay at home with your darlings and never venture out .....do you also hire a car seat for the taxis you use or just keep a few around the hosue for cabs...or are you, infact, talking about children and not babies?

A private car is in reality a luxury everywhere surely?.... to live in a place without public transport is after all just a selfish choice. I also presume you don't have babies/small children as though life without a car with babies in London is possible it's pretty grim.....they are not great on public tranport Tony'y right on one level, for the wealthy the congestion charge has been a benefit of being relatively low but encouraging many plebs off the road For what it is worth, I'm broadly in favour of it
