Invited people for dinner - can?t cook
midivydale replied to midivydale's topic in The Family Room Discussion
See Moneky, I can?t even spell the thing let alone cook it. -
Help! I have invited some good friends for dinner in the next couple of weeks. All good. Apart from one minor thing. I cant cook. At all. What do I do? Any fool proof ideas out there? Or any of these home cooked delivery firms that will deliver and I can pass it off as my own? Although chances are I would own up within 5 minutes. I don?t need to impress these people, it is nothing like that. But they are women that are really good friends and I want to treat them to a nice time. They mean a lot to me so i want to make sure they have a nice time. Oh and they are organic market, local produce types that just ?pop out for apricots for this evenings tajine?. I thought tangerine was an instrument! Help!

F&B paint for kitchen with young kids?
midivydale replied to srisky's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Hi, I wouldn't recommend it personally in high traffic areas with young children. I'm speaking as someone who decorated only a couple of months ago. Lovely colours but not durable in my experience with young children. Little Green slightly better -
Hi, are there any primary teachers out there or parents with experience with children who struggle to write? My son who is about to enter Y1 finds writing very hard. He struggles with pencil grip and some of his letters are hard to read. His phonics and reading is all fine it is the actual letter formation and grip he struggles with (along with the patience to actually practice). Any words of wisdom or suggestions on how I can help him? He detests it, hates me doing any kind of practicing with him- but he does need it. Any pointers most welcome.

Not sure how local you need but the best threading I have found is at debenhams in Bromley. I used to only go to selfridges etc but haven't set a foot there since I found the ladies at Debenhams. I am picky about things like that but they are truly brilliant and it is ?5!! No appointment needed. I used to use. A lovely lady locally too called Busybee on this forum. She was lovely and competetivly priced. We lost touch over the years but maybe if you do a search she is still around? I use Bromley these days as I can just pop in when it suits me rather than have to book an appointment. The tint is more tricky. I do it myself now as I know I'm very picky and loathe the too warm colour that is often used in salons, prefer them more ashy. Good luck and please do let me know if you find somewhere.

Hi Monkey, I am going through the residency application now. My citizenship application will most likely not be done prior to brexit but most likely in a couple of years.

Newborn items you can't live without?
midivydale replied to LouLouMoving's topic in The Family Room Discussion
A flask mug thingy that keeps tea/coffee warm for longer was my most loved item. Followed by a jo malone candle someone gave me. Non of those a baby item nor must haves but in those first weeks of chaos it helped me hang in there. A baby Bjorn bouncer if you can. It is worth the money (and you can get them second hand). -

Pregnancy related issue in employment
midivydale replied to BestBeast's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Sorry to hear that you are in this situation, especially at what should be such a nice and happy time in your life. Whilst no direct experience of resignation during pregnancy I did consult Acas for advice during my maternity leave. They were great as a first reference point. Another idea would be to check if you have legal cover under your home insurance? Wishing you all the best for the rest of your pregnancy! -
Any around?

Well done. It is a challenge to pick the right battles. Do make a habit of noting down discrepencies though it is useful to have a log. Good luck and well done for sortinf out your cv!

I would go to Sweden over Norway (cheaper) and more to do. Best beaches are in South of Sweden or Denmark. Perhaps combine the two? We go to Gothenburg every year and from there you can easily take the ferry to denmark for gorgeous beaches.

Nothing fancy just a trim as I do my colour elsewhere. Any recommendations gratefully received. Thanks

Sorry for confusion, no I mean the new habs primary I think frm memory it is called temple grove? It opereated from its permanent site for the first time in 2016. When I went to view it in 2016, I recall the head saying that although the original primary at hatcham was a feeder, the new primary was not. Can I have got that completely wrong? -

I am sure when we went for the open dat for the 2016 intake the head teacher made a point to say that the new free school was not a feeder? Has this changed? Could someone please confirm this information? ThNks -
