  1. The habs free school ia not a feeder to the secondary though is it?
  2. Thanks Esme, really reassuring!
  3. Hi all, my son who has just turned 5 will be going to the above for Easter and I was wondering if there are any other children that will be going that we could meet up in the park or so for a play before then? Although he is not shy by any means and always makes friends really easily I would feel better if he knew someone at least before he starts. Give me a shout if you can help, thanks
  4. Do they run this club over Easter too?
  5. Any recommendations of things to do today with near 5 year old?
  6. Flocker, this post will not go down well but for what it is worth, I agree with you. We are blessed with a varity of strong schools in Southwark and I too get dismayed at the "oh I am not so sure about that school" talk I so often overheard at open days last year. There are very few truly diverse and multicultural schools left in our area of London and it pains me. I had to search long and hard to find one such school for my child. I hear you!
  7. Hit me! Encouraged by my first ever slow cooker dish today (a spag bol) I would like some more tips. It is a pretty genius idea (and I realise Im v late to the awakening). What do you use yours for?
  8. Hi aandi, so lovely to see you on here. Welcome to the forum. How are you doing? I have just had a family bereavement so disappeared for a little while. X X
  9. Plse encourage your friend to post on here herself as well when she feels up to it. She will get alot of support. She is always welcome to PM me if she wants to chat. Is she on medication? I felt better in a very short space of time with the right medication. It was a Godsend to me. How is she coping with the baby, does she have support? My baby had severe reflux and allergies and the sleep deprivation along with a very traumatic birth made my mental health really deteriorate. Please encourge her to seek support, you seem like a lovely friend. I remember lying to all the health questions that people asked. I was scared that people would think I was a horrible mother if I admitted how I felt. That pretending (fine, not fine) was awful and so very isolating. It is an incredibly dark place to be. There is so much support out there, if only you can bring yourself to access it. She is not alone!
  10. Hi there, didnt want to read and run I had CBT therapy at Maudsley for PND/PTSD. Despite what one may think when it comes to the NHS the referal was very swift and the waiting time only a few days. I was with bupa at the time but as the Maudsley came through so quickly I did not have a chance to proceed with BUPA. I expect you will receive a number of pms from forumites offering support, once you open up people are often quick to offer help. I remember still to this day the messages of support I received when I posted on here so perhaps encourage your friend to post here? Finally, a forumite and friend Bridget Hargreves one of the amazing women reaching out to me at the time has written a great book "fine, not fine" which is brilliant.
  11. We have been with two nurseries (one nunhead and one in the city) and neither had terms like the above. Both were pretty unfavourable for the customer but still nothing like the above.
  12. Hi aandl, I am sorry to hear that you are having a tough time. You have done an amazing job for your little one. What help is it you need? Support? Practical help ie nanny/mothers help?
  13. Hi, there was a thread a few days ago frm a poster wanting feedback on the above school. My son goes there (reception) and we are very very happy in every aspect. The head is very strong and the teachers are amazing. It is a very happy school. It has exceeded my (selfconfessed very high) expectations. Happy to provide more specific information via PM.
  14. Buttercup this sounds v stressful. Of course we all lose our temper from time to tome but smacking and smashing toys sounds extreme to me. You said his temper has worried you for a while, do you have any support or anyone you can talk to about this?
  15. Hi Denise, do you have space for a school pick up (john stainer)? If so please PM me.
  16. People hugging onto the f-ing pole thing on the tube. FFS hold it with one hand so more people can reach it!! Some people seem to cling to it like it was their other half. For those of us at 5.1ft or under those poles are our only chance not to fall. We cant reach the handles at the ceiling
  17. Thought you might :) All areas are lovely, you cant go wrong. Best of luck and shout if you need any pointers!
  18. I would if you can afford it go with a nanny if your baby is as young as six months. I have sworn that if I ever have a second child then I will do whatever I can to ensure that we have a nanny for at least the first two years. I really regret that I did not the first time around. I found getting a young child ready in the morning as well as the lack of options if they were unwell (which is frequent in the first few years) incredibly stressful. At the time, we could simply not afford a nanny though so made other arrangements (childminder followed by nursery). My baby was fine, my regret has more to do with how the childminder and nursery options worked for me and my other half. If you have family that can help in case of emergency (baby unwell) or a flexible employer then a nursery/childminder might very well work perfectly well. Ultimately you will find a solution that works for your family, of course, and most people are happy with whatever choices they make. I just thought I would share my experience of regret as well, as we most often tend to hear of the choices that people are happy with.
  19. A question for those of you with medical knowledge (saffron, buggie are you out there? So little Ivydale has contracted Scarlet fever - again! He was treated for this in November. The doctor was v sceptical it was one of those "never in my career have I come across a chils that has suffered this twice" but in the end he was "pretty sure still" that is what it is. So am I, symptoms are identical to last time. Should I be worried that he is getting these strep infections regularily? I am generally really worried about strep infections (my dad contracted serious valve implications as a result as a child) and I have myself had to have my tonsils removed and got an infection in my heart as a teen following tonsilitis. Service at dmc hit an all time low for me today and for the first time in 12 years with them I lost it (dont worry i wasnt rude or anything, just in dispair). It shouldn't have to be like this. I called 39 times this morning. Waited all day for a call back. Which came at 5.36pm. The doctor then said "yea sounds bad, you need to call 111". I just cried.
  20. Yes thats fine, we live in Southwark but my son goes to school in Lewisham
  21. I have emailed our primary school on several occasions and they have always acted promtly. Callbacks, alerted the head, informed class teacher etc. Only positive experiences- so far
  22. Thanks all, we have been baking, two cinema trips, bowling at stratford westfield, puppet show at spitalfields and ice skating by tower of london. London is amazing at christmas! Happy New Year everyone x
  23. I have cabin fever, I have built lego for 4 days solid...(swede so opened presents on 24th). Any tips on something to do today would be very gratefully received!
  24. handelsbanken has been rated one of the worlds strongest banks by Bloomberg. To compare its financial strength and sustainability to that of Icelandic banks would be inaccurate. Each branch has autonomy to make their own lending decisions and as such it is a myth that you need a minimum wage and or deposit to be a customer. The nearest branch for most EDF users would be London Bridge. The individual banking manager and branch manager there are both excellent.
