  1. We have used phonicsplay ALOT especially in reception on the advice of ds?s reception teacher. It really helped with his blending. It is divided according to the phonics level they are at at school so it is well synchronised. It helped massively with his blending. I also got handwriting sheets from the school run which were useful. Now in year1 there is mathletics which he loves and also gonoodle which is more of a mindfulness and movement app. I have found phonicsplay a godsend, my son was a reluctant reader last year and this has helped him overcome some huge hurdles and he loves reading now.
  2. hi, the gymnastics club in Camberwell usually do half term camps. Worth a look, they are excellent, I would really recommend them.
  3. Yes, I also know someone I would not recommend who comes highly recommended on here. He told my mum to mind her own business and sod off at my son?s party. Happy to give his details if anyone wants to know.
  4. Ditto, we were outside catchment for our first choice School but got a place in May. Out the school in genuine order of preference but definitely use all your six choices. There are definitely six (and more) decent schools in the area so put them all down. Good luck, it is stressful but all will be well in the end.
  5. Aden anais swaddling blankets. The most gorgeous soft versatile things. Sun protectors/swaddles/blankets/breast feeding cover and when older perfect comforted.
  6. Thank you everyone. Ellie, that is really helpful and reassuring. And no certainly not a competition. Every single woman going through childbirth is a hero in my book. I feel guilty for having such a hang up about all of this, ultimately both baby and I were safe and well. You are right, my midwife actually said the same about my fears, she was lovely. She said that my fears are based on a previous experience so not irrational at all although I think that maybe the previous experience now has helped me develop some irrational fears if that makes sense. I have awful nightmares of the labour and vivid dreams of the baby being stuck for example and I experience frequent flash backs which I guess are PTSD symptoms still more than anything. All your comments are very reassuring. Thank you
  7. Thank you all, very informative. Thank you. My midwife did say that the consultant might request counselling. I would be happy with that if that?s needed. You never know what can happen, there could be a potential risk of early spontaneous labour for example so if offered councelling I?m happy to take it. Whilst my main reasons for wanting an elcs is for mental health reasons those are not the only reasons. There were some pretty awful physical complications from the previous birth which I?m still not completely recovered from. I?m really scared that those problems would worsen during a second labour. This fear in turn obviously impacts my mental health. The councelling might help me deal with those fears but won?t make the physical problems go away. I have read Up and fully understand the risks associated with an elcs. I am under no illusion that it would be a walk in the park . But a crash forceps delivery certainly isn?t either and I just can?t go through it again. I just hope I will be listened to. My midwife was lovely and supportive which was very reassuring. Thanks for your time everyone, really appreciate it. It has taken me many years to even contemplate doing it all again. We will see how it goes.
  8. I was wondering if anyone has managed to go through the process of elcs on the grounds of tokophobia/ptsd/traumatic previous birth rather than strict medical grounds. Although it could be argued that mental health is actually medical grounds? If you have experience of this would you be happy to share it? PM if you prefer. I confided in my midwife at the booking appointment and she was hugely supportive. She has referred me to talk through my options with a consultant at Kings. Does anyone know what happens at such an appointment, and after? Is there a series of appointments you would need to go through? Any advice welcome. Many Thanks.
  9. Hi, If you are a mobile hairdresser with availability on Friday please can you PM? All I need is a cut and blow dry. Thanks!
  10. Hi, can I join you? I?m due with my second in July. I too made some lovely friends through the forum last time around. Can iI ask what midwives you are all registered with? It has changed a lot since the first time around :)
  11. Hi, If you are a cleaner with hours to spare on Wednesday the 21st December between 10.00-13.00 then please send me a PM with your contact details and hourly rate. Many Thanks
  12. Hi Saffron, I am sure you are already, but be careful not to isolate your friend further, a group ?confrontation? might have the opposite effect for her or put her at further risk. Ultimately though, you are acting and I applaud you for doing so. SusyP are you still around? We messaged a lot when my son was a baby and I had no idea that you had been through this hell. How are you?
  13. Me too! As much fresh air as possible, wholesome food and supplements has helped me. Have you checked your thyroid and ferritin levels?
  14. We live locally to the school and many of my child?s friends go there. Everyone that I have spoken to seem very happy with the school. I think that the community aspect is strong and personally I love the fact that the site is split so that all children have access to age appropriate playgrounds. Compared to most other local schools the resources seem amazing, which would a huge plus for me if I was looking for a School now. They also have very good provision for before and after school care, again something that many other schools struggle with. I am sure Ivydale parents will be along soon and give their views. Oh and one thing, I really wouldn?t worry too much about ofsted reports in isolation. From my experience in isolation they tell you very little. We have had childcare provisions ranging from requires improvement to outstanding and the rating has never given the full picture. Much more important to us as parents have been things like communication and ability to speak to the school should there be any concerns. Both the Governing body and PTA seem strong At Ivydale which is a huge plus I think.
  15. Posting as admin: Just spotted this, have removed it now.

  17. I am so sorry to hear this, perhaps worth sending a letter/email to James Barber too?
  18. tomskip, just saw your comment :) We eat pretty well at home, we don't starve, despite me not being very able in the kitchen. I can obviously boil veg and bung a chicken in the oven type thing. What I meant with my post was that in the context of a dinner party where I wanted to treat a group of good friends (who are all pretty damn good at cooking themselves) to a nice bit of food and a nice time, I felt my skills didn't live up to what I wanted to be able to do for them. Or so I thought. All sorted now with abit of pasta. Went well
  19. Thanks everyone. Made a super easy pasta bake with chicken/broccoli/parmesan. It was lovely!
  20. Posting as admin. I have deleted the reply for security reasons and sent the details via pm to Sonners. All the best.
