  1. Its called balance - the need to move people around whilst protecting as many people as possible from the negative impact of busy roads. It shouldn't be seen as the only factor in better managing roads however - ongoing enforcement of alohol limits, encouraging public transport, smaller vehicles, harsher penalties for bad driving etc Twice in the last week, I and my gammy leg have nearly been obliterated by people driving whilst on a mobile phone (do ya wanna description of what they look like Tone?? Then you can keep an eye out for them!) - and if anyone says better enfocement of fines on these idiots is a money making scam I will use my PIP Bout to track you down and get all medieval...
  2. It's not so much that he puts the "ry" in country...
  3. I'm struggling to find where such vitriol is coming from as well Moos.. For all the broo ha ha about JG's death, I don't recall anyone suggesting something as facetious as that
  4. Come on PR, I know your views on traffic by now but those points seem a bit knee-jerk To say that "many" accidents are not cause by speed to make a point is disingenuos surely? Even by your "many", that means many more are caused by speeding. And your chances of surviving if hit at 20mph are hugely increased Money making scam is just such a clich? as well - it carries no weight. Show me the balance sheet where income exceeds expenditure on this and I might concede People complain when elected officials show no leadersip and now they are complaining when Southwark is taking a lead - fair play to them I say. Southwark is a largely built up area close to central London - the gains from travelling above 20mph (whenever THAT is possible) are slim. You just want to go for a ride, I get that - but Zones 1-5 of a city based around medieval streets maybe not the best location
  5. I did not know about lozzyloz - and to you sir!
  6. The clues are all there: 2000as adaptation Wii ?14.99 I'd say it's a 7/10 at best
  7. bon3yard you have probably seen this already but just in case "To obtain Update Rollup 2 for Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005, visit the Microsoft Windows Update Web site: http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/ (http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/) Release Date: Oct. 14, 2005 Note To install this update, you must have Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 and .NET Framework 1.1 SP1 installed. Windows Update detects whether these packages are installed. Windows Update automatically installs these packages for you. If the 886904 update is installed, you must uninstall the 886904 update before you install Update Rollup 2 for Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005. Otherwise, the .NET Framework 1.1 SP1 installation will not succeed. To determine whether the 886904 update is installed, follow these steps: Click Start, click Run, type appwiz.cpl, and then click OK. Click to select the Show Updates check box. In the Currently installed programs list, look for the following item: Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Hotfix (KB886904) If this item appears, you must remove the hotfix. To remove the hotfix, click Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Hotfix (KB886904), and then click Remove. Then, visit the Windows Update Web sit to download and install Update Rollup 2 for Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005." I have left XP behind aeons ago so apologies I can't be more helpful..
  8. yep, that's the one. Mere weeks later that manager was shown the door and it was downhill all the way after that On another point to an earlier poster - the Gowlett sister pub is the Nun's Head a few dozen yards away. And that seems to be plenty busy any time I go in
  9. Happy birthday to the forumites most dedicated, hard-travelling football supporter
  10. is this thread real or tongue-in-cheek? Either way...
  11. The governments of the past have tried tho haven't they? Was it in the 50s or the 60s when the government was so incensed by the BBC that they were planning troops to break into Broadcasting House, whilst the BBC managers had given out hammers to staff, instructing them to smash teh equipment if the troops came in
  12. Maybe Admin could start a new folder called "Reported Crime" or something for all these threads. I have been a victime of crime several times but beyond the wider social implications and the vain hope that I get stuff back I find the starting of a new thread for every single crime tedious beyond belief and it clogs up the main Folder. I know there seems to be an appetite for these things but it's so one dimensionl. And as Quids has cracked teh same joke twice, albeit with tongue planted firmly in cheek, I feel the need to point out that arguing for LESS car use doesn't make me minded to commit criminal damage. Just thought I'd clear that up
  13. Note also the obligatory defensive qualification combining attack with defense
  14. * shoots Brendan *
  15. Cheers Mick Mac - How long have I been here - you would think I would have that sussed by now!
  16. keep up LE - quids has been doing this for aeons now! It means 100th post - he claims to see a counter on his screen (as do others) but I never see it
  17. oops - I didn't mean to suggest that the council would want an influence (that never even crossed my mind) - more that some users might see the forum as paid for by them with tax money so who is Admin to limit them to the Lounge etc
  18. I don't know how much it costs but I've used the Donate button at the bottom of the page a couple of times What would worry me if the grant money became involved is a sense of "well we pay for this foum so it should be run the way we say". I say it's Admin's - his gaff, his rules
  19. one for the LOL posts thread methinks - nice one
  20. I trust you are reporting these posts as they happen AFN?
  21. doh - I was mislead by iPlayer - I apologise But go and watch it there anyway!
  22. Put your smut-radars away Five Minutes of Heaven, starring Liam Neason and Jimmy Nesbitt is on at 9pm tonight (BBC1) - do yourself a favour and give it a go One review here Kathryn Flett says: "the result was as fine a TV drama as I've seen in a decade of reviewing. All that remains now is for me to apologise to Nesbitt, about whom I have often been unkind (and kind rather less often) but who here gave the performance of his career, though to big up Nesbitt is not in any way to diminish Neeson's contribution, which was crucial. All in all, Five Minutes of Heaven was enough to give a TV critic renewed faith in the medium - though, please God, never Faith, spare me that." Amen
  23. Oh for F***s sake - all this dry debate about the BBC's "worth" - is it efficient? is it worth the money? is it as valuable as Norwegian (??????) television Just LOOK at this 90 minute drama and a) consider who else would fund it b) who else would show it c) how many people will now reconsider their negative opinion of Nesbitt Awesome awesome stuff
  24. Ah the mantle passes!
