You won't catch the Fiver dredging up loads of 'Arry Redknapp quotes from recent months in which the new Totten'am 'Otspur manager waxes lyrical about 'ow 'appy 'e is at Portsmouth, 'ow it will definitely be 'is last job in football and 'ow it just wouldn't be right for him to leave because 'e feels 'e owes Pompey a debt and 'as to pay vem back. There are a number of reasons for this reticence on our part, the main one being that it would involve effort, which the crack team of finely tuned BS-detectors at football365 were good enough to have their readers exert long before we rolled out of bed this afternoon. The fact of the matter is that, having established Portsmouth as a Premier League force to be reckoned with, won the FA Cup and overseen the relegation of Southampton to the Championship during his time at Fratton Park, 'Arry doesn't owe the south-coast club a thing. What's more, with massive bucks on offer to restore Tottenham's status as a mid-table side with delusions of grandeur, he'd have been stone-hatchet mad to turn down such a lucrative gig. "It is brilliant to have an English manager," whooped Ledley King without injuring himself, less than 24 hours after fulfilling his duties as club captain by describing his then boss, the Spaniard Juande Ramos, as "a good manager" who Spurs players were "confident" could "change things". Of course when Ledley says he's confident 'Arry can change things you get the feeling he actually means it and all the evidence to date - a home win over Bolton, whoopity-doo! - suggests he's right. But before Spurs players and fans completely lose the run of themselves, your tea-timely harbinger of doom thinks it's worth noting that the last time a struggling Premier League side with a nickname beginning with the letter S parachuted 'Arry in to save them from relegation, he appointed his boy Jamie to help him, failed, then left them in the lurch. With betting exchanges already offering odds against Redknapp replacing himself as Portsmouth manager (OK, they're a long 228-1, but probably a lot shorter than those available for Micky Adams, Bryan Robson or Dvd O'Lry), it seems history could be about to repeat itself. Today's Lahn's Lahn E'n'n' Stannah reports that "Redknapp's son Jamie could also be joining the staff" at Spurs

very good... very clever

So - Arsenal v Spurs Shall I watch at home or venture to CPT/EDT?
-
I might have searched and posted a bit too quickly to be fair Moos - sorry I did a search for "tronc" and kind of went with the first one I got as I assumed that was teh one I'd read previously - but there are many many articles out there about how it's used to top up to minimum wage rather than a payment for service
-
This surfaces fairly regularly as a problem - example article here but nothing seems to change. Linzkg's method is the only one that works in the staff's favour (which is surely the only point if you are a tipper??)

Does anywhere in ED show the rugby
SeanMacGabhann replied to JimmyP's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I believe Jamie in Hoopers is a big rugby fan and he has recently got Sky as well so I'm guessing he's a good bet. Hoopers is on Ivanhoe Rd, not far from ED station -
The curry club payed the Coriander a visit about 4/5 months ago - I have been going there since it opened and had another great meal but they were short-staffed that night if I recall..
-
my willpower saw me leave the EDT at a respectable 6:30 after the match yesterday so I'm doing pretty well - is ths what happens as you get older... being sensible kicks in???

Bakers outside Moxon's have a shop opening up very soon Bread in EDD is always good too in my exp And Blackbird near the station are nice too
-
heavy and dry isn't the same as stale, but I know what you mean - especially for the non-white breads (and it's nowt to do with Cheese Block I don't think - any deli I've ever been that sold organic wholewezzzzzzzz has tended to be .. dense)
-
I sort of know where you are coming from with lots of that ratty but surely it's unlikely Portsmouth would be in the position they are in with any other manager in recent years? He might well be self-serving and two-faced but he has achieved for you
-
About right quids. Did you make it to edt in the end. That wasnt you glowering at the end of the long table was it ?
-
lol well I have suggested, or given an opinion on places I like before and if people want to go for EDT that's cool - i would add that the EDT probably gets the biggest slice of forum drinks dollar anyway - I was in there today and bumped into at least 8 others. And quids was lurking too. I really like the place Before my time, I understand the drinks started off in the EDT as well so I can the return to roots vibe. I'm not voting against it - but a Friday night in there is never going to have the chilled, welcoming vibe of most drinks And yeah - a suggestion that the Mag is "off the beaten path"?? - seemed plenty of people in there last Saturday
-
You and me both keef. Sobering thought innit quids?
-
Friday night inside the edt?? Ill just talk aloud from my chair at home. You will hear me just as well Its mental busy in there on a friday night is it not ?
-
although, by jumping into a discussion it does give people a flavour of what you are about - so.. you know... don't be afraid of that either
-
I love when people do this ! Hi microbite

yourmomma - thanks for the tip. It's something people have been telling me for ages and I've read lots about it so can't wait to get stuck in. I did load it for a sneak peek but my brain hasn't been all that this week and so I whimpered for a bit and decided to come back to it ;-) I see Portal has also come out on Live Arcade this week with extra bits and bobs attached.

Advice on removals and bus routes
SeanMacGabhann replied to GemmaT's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
a handy tool for me too. Although mine disagrees with you on the 40. I'm quite loyal to the 40 on my way into town but a bit of a floozy on the way back and will jump on any old wagon. I find the 40 more consistent than the others. And it finishes near home so it's my bus, as it were My mental bus tools also include a bus-stop analyser which gives me a reading on whether a given stop is more likely to have several buses turn up quickly, or leave me standing for ages. (yes, even tho they may be just 4 stops apart on the same route - I didn't say it made any sense) F'rinstance, I find the stop by the garage at Goose Green to be a bit of a black hole - often seem to wait 10 mins there, whereas the bus stop by the Sea Cow, I'm never waiting for very long at all -
Oh don't worry EDOldie - I'm not standing up for her - I'm with you in spirit believe me

not sure all of those count as Nanny state EdOldie (and I'm for at least one of them) ... but the general point remains a good one!
