  1. if you can tell the bleedin' difference MP, I'd be happy to make the call
  2. it is rather more tasteful than the halcyon days of Tory rule when back in the early 90s one noturious ED resident had an obscene tshirt depicting Lilley and Portillo indulging in... well... let's not go there
  3. tis many things fitz, but it ain't a franchise but you probably know that and were just being cheeky
  4. The whole connectivity side of the Wii sounded dreadful compared to a 360 before I got myself a Wii Now I know it's dreadful compared to etc etc Downloading software means I have to stare at a screen for 15-20 minutes and not be able to do anything else on it?? It's 2008 ninty - sort it!
  5. Ah the joys of bussing to Honor Oak proper as opposed to what the 63 says is Honor Oak Might there be economic sense in travelling directly to HO from town after work for people with Travel Cards and sharing cabs back? Babur is not that far really but it's mildly inconvenient to bus/walk it (and I've done both)
  6. Nero for mayor! That's exactly how I would like to see it. Maybe a small bar as competition for Plough as well
  7. * shuffles awkwardly in seat *
  8. Nail. On. Head
  9. or in Fable 2's case - Dogs for courses. I take your point tho... I've just started Orange Box so my FPS needs will be catered for for some time methinks (for a game that's 4 years old, it still looks very good by the way)
  10. I really enjoyed it as well - The food I thought was solid (if over reliant on tikka-fying every piece of meat) but not enough to make me go regularly. The "system" was something to behold - the WHOLE table had to to order, in sequence, not parallel starter vegetable main rice bread At no point could you say "pilau rice and a plain naan" for example I can see why a restaurant might want to impose some semblance of order on less-than-focused customers but it did seem overly fussy Everyone seemed in good form as well and it was just the tonic I needed too
  11. good post Mogs - and what's worse about the pubcos is the application forms they make you fill in - you would think you were applying CEO level As for Annasfield's Bang on - I have always said the same too
  12. any chance this can go back on topic before a good point gets lost in the lounge? There is even a thread about polls in general here
  13. Back to +2 incl me - sanatogen rocks!
  14. people keep telling me how simple on the surface it is (Super Smas Bros) but how many layers of depth there are.. I'm never convinced Wii time is going to be sorely lacking in coming weeks with Fable 2 and Fallout 3 however (plus someone gave me The Orange Box for my birthday - woo hoo)
  15. a taxi-duh-mist?
  16. taxi drivers who drive slowly up Friern Rd looking for 253 Ballyyahoo Rd, and you can see them down at number bleedin 50, looking at each door!! At a guess mate, it's going to be at least another 100 houses - crack on..
  17. That's a nice spot yuo are going to tonight GG - Regent's Park way?
  18. Not that I'm saying anyone should go there (although I am partial to the window seat upstairs) but Waxy's Little Sister in Chinatown usually has just one bar person on whenever I've been in there but he takes several orders at once and it really is like being back home in Ireland Why is bar service slower in England generally - I wouldn't like to comment. But I agree the Dog has always been the worst and it's sister pub the Plough is catching up. When I've worked in bars in England I would say punters can be as bad - they rarely give a list of drinks, it's always: Pint of lager and a coke... wait.. oh and 2 vodkas.....wait....THEN they ask for 2 pints of guiness.. hnnngggggggggg [one for Petty Annoyances there maybe]
  19. re: columnists - can someone put Barbare Ellen out of her and our misery - I used to love her back in here NME days but now it's embarrassing
  20. surley the question is Fable2 or Fallout 3?????? If I had to pick one of dead Space or Far Cry2 I would pick the latter - sounds that bit more original
  21. we flatter to deceive this season RC - every thumping 5 something win by our youngsters is followed by a dull, workmanlike performance, which we usually lose. I think West Ham stand more than a chance then again, in an echo of Annasfield's comment earlier re: Liverpool, there is something pre-written about Spurs coming out oftheir slump by beating Arsenal
  22. it's not a hangover - trust me!
  23. possible -2 from us - ever since Sunday night I have been.... indisposed and although back at work today I'm going to see how things progress - will keep you posted Sorry
  24. Several threads devoted to this pub already so I haven't started a new one but having finally surfaced I wanted to praise AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE Rose, Reuben and the whole team at the Mag - the food, handling and general care they applied to my party last night was outstanding. Visitors from across the UK and Ireland all spoke in glowing terms about the place and the variety and quality of food. And they were handling a separate 40th upstairs at the same time They did me proud and I'm bigging them up. So there...
