  1. * stands and applauds * * doffs cap in Keef's direction * And gratutious crowbaring of the word Dems in there as well as a subliminal advert for tonight - bonus
  2. Good answers everyone. I totally get the in control thing. I actually feel i get that with my current bus to elephant and walk thereafter routine but i love riding bikes as well. Food for thought. .
  3. Now I'm as big a fan of Val's as anyone but whilst Nisha does make good use of space, anyone complaining about the lack of buggy/wheelchair space in the co-op who scoots up that hill will be sorely disappointed!
  4. Brendan You'll be suggesting that some of the financial institutions getting these billions will have to meet some conditions next - crazy communist!
  5. is the story this sort of thing is happening all the time? Because if it isn't then it's just a small statistical blip that happens in any system. From what I read in the Standard (I know.. I know) today, 3 people in the council have been sacked because of it and they are actively looking to rehouse the family in cheaper accomodation anyway. So what's the fuss about really? And has it been worth the price of unleashing all the bile that's out there? If 1% of that mob used 1% ofthat energy and focused it on things that REALLY affect their lives then we might see some positive changes...
  6. "And I've got 'that meeting' at 2pm - Better get a move on!" ;-)
  7. question for cyclists - because I like the IDEA.. but more than the traffic and dodgy junctions, the thing that puts me off is... For all the talk of saving time waiting for bus, stuck in traffic etc - getting showered and changed at the other side takes as much time surely? And what a faff that is. Towels in the office? Really? And no reading done!
  8. Basically this - oh and a book/something to read. A person can tolerate a lot with a good book to hand Oh and an iPod - walking from E&C to the city needs a soundtrack So 7 things then...
  9. Which Louisa are we getting today? Oh goody this one... I like her
  10. when the cider is large Magners then yep -you don't need to be in central London for those prices I think Mrs F makes some fair points about how she doesn't like the tone. I like it but others may not. One of the things I like about the menu is the fact that it only has 4 options for mains - the two times I have eaten there it has been obviously cooked from scratch and very tasty. It changes nightly as well which is so refreshing in a world of laminated menus serving reheated crud I have no idea why some people bang on about the wallpaper so much tho - there isn't even any on the walls - a little bit around the bar and people have palpitations! So no it isn't what it was but I think it is good at what it is...
  11. What an image...
  12. like it PGC, like it
  13. Things that can go wrong with steak: The steak itself - a good piece? or a watery, slightly too red to be true thing ain a blue plastic tray? Pan not hot enough Too much salt seasoning before frying err.. that's really about it apart from cooking time. As keef says you can pretty it up after that but basics should be do-able
  14. yep - this as well!! Well, that and PC games often need the latest sooper-dooper graphics-card. Or a brain and patience. Which is what work requires so I'm not in the mood Speaking of gaming in front of TV - I had to use an older console lately and having a long cable between me and the box nearly broke my heart... (shallow me)
  15. We did a massive shop in a great place on Rye Lane about a year ago for all sorts of pans, stock pots etc - recommended it to everyone then they went and closed down - bah Yours Herbie
  16. I think the BBC offering is the best of the bunch at the moment but still not quite there- at least not via my Wii on a proper telly. The Ch4 and ITV offerings are just not up to scratch And I can't see myself ever watching a proper TV shown on a pc screen on a desk. I'll watch 5 minute Youtube clips for sure but MoTD for an hour+???
  17. I think we need to focus on the whole "Dickensian aspect" ;-)
  18. That can't be allowed to continue any longer PGC - I'm herby offering to cook you steak and show you how
  19. And of course this toerag has his say Littlejohn - You couldn't make it up! - But he does anyone who bandies phrases like doesn't know what they are talking about note the mealy-mouthed "look at me - I'm not blaming them - but I am putting them in the same sentence as terrorists"
  20. What Keef said as well - but I'm no wiser as to why people don't drink elsewhere. I always try and persuade people to go somewhere else - they just look at me like I'm weird (I'm used to that anyway) I used to work in St James - which is up it's own arse in a different way of course. But I liked it around there.... Less homogenous
  21. If it isn't the intention to vilify the mother, then they have failed miserably. Look up her name in google and read some (ok, most) of the comments posted by people It would take a more generous soul than me to assume that wasn't the intent of publishing an article like this
  22. If I ever make it out of the city I'm pretty sure I'll never go back I do make a point of never drinking in the city after work tho'
  23. fantastic MP,... one for the Lol Posts methinks
  24. I was watching Fox News last night (welll... sometimes you have to) and they we going big on that story. Can't wait for Jon Stewart's take on it
