Not a bad idea that I hear what you are saying as well about how quickly things drop down in there - true test of popularity if it stays mind you! Objections sustained - thread stays in Lounge
-
How come "crap?" I don't read it that much but it gets more readers than most of the rest of the forum I believe

like the idea Shu - does it belong more inthe Wanted/Offered section tho'?

Next EDF drinks - Magnolia Fri 03 October - All Welcome

about 2-3 months ago Bren I am favouring Hoopers as it has been ages since last visit, we were looked after well and the beer is good there But if people favour the Montpelier (near Peckham Rye station - same rd as Review bookshop and teh Wishing Well) I'm ok with that too -
The Magnolia (used to be The Magdala)

Now that I am on a proper keyboard - what is with goer's post(s). Several of the bars on the Lane accept cards but sometimes have problems and can accept cash only. What has happened to make him/her so upset hear. I get there is some confusion and a problem with a CAPS LOCK Key but it would take more than that for me to go on a rampage about a pub... It probably is the furthest pub in the area from a cashie which makes it inconvenient but still -
Unless your settings have changed I can't imagine why - could be your cache tho' - try clearing that or try using another browser - Firefox is my choice but if you are already using that, try IE anyway just to see... Wouldn't it just be easier to go to Target Arms on LL?

The return of... ebay.co.uk looks ok even thru work filters this morning - I have gone through a search, details and login screen

Simon is just brimming with Yorkshire pride all around today I would imagine. And the Owls lost heavily so he couldn't be happier I've missed Match(es) of the Day this weekend so just read about Liverpool's comeback yesterday - wicked stuff. Definitely look like a more solid proposition this year - and if(when) Arsenal don't win it, I would love it to be Liverpool After the blip at Fulham, I thought that successive wins on away trips to bogey teams up North, Asrsenal would have a great season but it's looking like we just don't have "it" yet. It's very early days but something would need to change for us to challenge1 I've said it before but after the weekend I'll say it again - Roy Keane continues to impress as a manager. Not just for getting results but the way he is handling himself in interviews - a far cry from 10 years ago. I read he is sniffing after Viera as well..

I'm shocked Moos - stressful? It's the most relaxing thing in the world (for the most part- no getting away from the stress of looming doorbell and a problem with the oven!)

Cheers for the pics Andrew I thought the pub itself was nicely busy but a lack of music for most of the night hindered atmosphere. The turn-out for forum drinks was lower than usual but thems the breaks. Those that did turn up were good company. I think the care and will to succeed from the owner is palpable. It's as far from a corporate pub as can be - I would echo Annaj's comment and say that it has become a favourite of mine in short time. And getting Reuben on board is, as Keef says, a great coup Edited: slightly -
Dez - absolutely hear you. I've lived up this end for 8 years and have wanted that pub to be a good "stop in for a quick one after getting off the bus" for most of them. I used to try out the old Plough every 6 months and it was always bad - bad service, bad to non-existent food, bad vibes, bad carpet. Actually scratch that.. scary,life-sapping carpet Anyway - since the refurb last year it's a different pub completely. The food isn't great (head-office Mitchel-Butler fare) but everything else about it is pretty great. The open-mic nights every month are well worth going along too. If you pop in some night I might even see you there

What's the state of Peckham Rye park like these days?
SeanMacGabhann replied to Pagey's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Another fan of Peckham Rye park here - But I'm not sure what the problem with Dulwich Park is Dez - am I given to understand that yummy mummies is a term that you are using negatively? And given that I suspect the negative definition of yummy mummy includes over-protection of their kids why oh why would they take them to a park with "crazy dogs"? Surely the last place they would go? -
Whats the problem with plough dez? Hell of a lot better than it was 2 years ago surely

see you there RC -
Can't remember if I've said it before or not - search doesn't throw anything up.. but People at cashpoints, faced with a choice of: "Cash with receipt" "Cash only" Choose the former and then either ignore the printout or just chuck out on the ground without looking at it!!! It happens more often than not and I don't understand why. Same gobshites would probably say it was a revenue-raising exercise if they were charged for the fekkin thing

JimmyD - don't worry about it - I pay good money to see comedians whose names I can't remember the next time I go to a club See you there -
They used to do Turkish pizzas - I like to think the council has the hump with them since they stopped doing them.. I wouldn't mind if one of the "5 shops" became a decent chipper

oh he's done with it and a fantastic book it is too. err.. now I need to find it. I'll try and get it before I get along to the drinks tonight Back to Jeremy's points - I too used to have such faith in the professions and no doubt many of them are on top of it. However, all of us have a responsibility to want the truth. Enough scientists have been working on climate change and have jumped up and down about it. But do we really want to listen. Do we really???? (© Brendan 2008) For the scientists to have enough time to take action, governments have to sanction and propagate the findings. To do that, voters have to want to listen (rather than just lump the government out in preference for another lot with a more palatable message) I don't think that most voters are there yet I don't buy CWALD's apocalyptic scenario however - it's as much to do with her belief that the capitalist society we live in is about to go down the plughole as it is with green policy. And yes I am aware of the overlap.

I'm largely on Sue's side on the wider point - but I think it's disingenuous to not "get" why people think the post was not accusatory rather than simple warning The title alone - "Somerfield again..." suggests an implicit previous conviction and that they haven't learned a lesson which just isn't the case. That so many people who have been cloned were also in Somerfield implies nothing more than lots of people go to a high profile supermarket. They have not been confirmed as the source of anything (although I take on board what Sue says re: her bank's comments) Starting a new thread also suggests an event of some magnitude more than adding to previous threads...

* hops off large steed * * takes one glove off and slaps Keep once on each cheek * "Annaj meant every word of that humility and absolutely NO irony was intended. I'm pretty sure..... I think..." * climbs back on * * overshoots and falls on other side of horse * [some time passes] * a "dignified" exit follows *
