  1. Brendan fell into an even bigger vat of "cheeky" than usual today i feel! It is cheering me up no end
  2. The whole thing about Americans not owning passpots isn't that much of a mystery really - the US is so vast and so diverse you could travel it your entire life and miss out on much of it. But the ideology thing does bother me - fact is if you aren't a Christian you ain't gonna be president. End of discussion.
  3. I quite fancy that DQ when you are finished Piers, should it be lendable.. Anyone fancy Turning your DS into a heavy synth?
  4. Everton 1 v 3 Liverpool Aston Villa 2 v 1 Sunderland Fulham 1 v 1 West Ham Man Utd 2 v 0 Bolton 1 Middlesbrough 2 v 1 West Brom Newcastle 1 v 4 Blackburn Stoke City 1 v 3 Chelsea Arsenal 2 v 1 Hull City Portsmouth 3 v 1 Tottenham Wigan 1 v 2 Man City
  5. Looks like the filming of the latest Ben Dover film had some hiccups there
  6. That is exactly what I was going to do as well before I posted the question! And I hit the same brick wall as you
  7. I had intentions of getting along to this but other events overtook. Glad you had a good time there WeeGee - Elaine and John are top people aren't they? Was Bertie there as well - he's usually knocking about? I keep meaning to bring down a copy of this for him: http://g-ecx.images-amazon.com/images/G/02/ciu/91/b7/1a6436c622a0df6012325110._AA240_.L.jpg
  8. True but then the same coud be said of Barack and Joe I don't think the same - but the I'm not sure I would want to win this election given the poison chalice it has become
  9. I wouldn't want to lose "cheeky banter", but much like James "gay" argument, context is everything. Mostly I just would like to see less victims of abuse end up in hospitals I guess..
  10. I love it when my beliefs and my excuses coincide shosh... what can I say?? Now, do you want to be player 1 or player 2?
  11. So we get to go see Keef play at the Plough tonight, a late feast at Kebab & Wine and then back for the presidential debate?? Bring it on... BTW - if anyone reading is thinking the usual "UK liberals and their dreams of Obama winning etc etc" (I'm looking at you quids! ;-) ) - but seriously - can anyone present any sort of case for McCain winning?
  12. I like reading what the last 3 posters have written - partly because they are all broadly correct (yet still disagree) - but also beacause I can't imagine 3 more different people than CWALD, Huguenot and snorky (although I haven't had the privilege of meeting snorks)
  13. I'm dragging this up from a couple of weeks ago because it was pointed out to me last night (I had missed it at the time) AND it was the last post on the thread for 24 hours at the time and received no response. But it is a very good point which had pertinence to the debate - as women are often at the end of extremely violent conduct - because they are women - and plenty of language pertaining to them is at least as insulting as using "gay" to mean "sh1t" SO rather than subdivide the various groups at the rough end of the treatment, a broad coalition should be mindful of who says what to whom and what the context is. Oh wait - that's called political correctness and is often deemed A Bad Thing
  14. Firefox seconded as being nippy compared to others I'm starting to hear some worrying things about Chrome (security-wise) which is to be expected given it's beta status I guess Chrome Security issues?
  15. not the other Sean is it? seanmlow? Whoever it was and despite the flack estate agents get losing a job is no fun at the time
  16. Pshaaa - I get to play on whatever console I like AND I don't have to share it with little-jammy-fingers
  17. lol - like it MM. Over generous to the EDF overall I think but enjoyable nontheless
  18. Methinks I spotted you then *Bob* I think you are pretty spot on with the desc as well.
  19. There is a difference between saying "wait a minute, why don't we ease of on the accelerator even if we are in the speed limit - there seems to be a lot of oil on the ground" and "Stop the car! Stop the car!" I think there is merit in people not having children - probably a small percentage will opt for that route but clearly at current rate of population growth, the globe will give up the ghost eventually? I wouldn't rule out an eventual cap on family size either - I see nothing intrinsically unfair about it - for the same reason.
  20. Piers beat me to the name!!! gaaahhhh
  21. [possible spoiler ref deleted] I have to tell you eps 8 and 9 are just THE BEST - I'm dead jealous As for names... sorry, but surely it's Keefa
  22. basically my point Brendan but you put it so much more succinctly
  23. no doubt PGC no doubt. And I could recount same experiences with insurance companies, banks and what not. But my point is IN THIS case we seem to have people engaged - far better to keep that engagement working than to treat them as incompetents. If they drop the ball again then that might be different...
  24. I'm all for anything that diminishes religion's role in state affairs but if Catholics, Jews, Musilims etc want a religious wedding and funeral that's up to them. When I go I go - but I don't need any sort of umbrella "humanist" ceremony - I definitely wouldn't want my family to drag me back into some religious funeral, but so long as religion is out of it that's plenty. I don't see why non-religious people need to define themselves as "Humanist. You just don't believe in... well you know the arguments Come Christmas I won't be having a Humanist Christmas or even a non-Santa Christmas (what can I as a non-Santa believer define that as?) ... but I will enjoy the time off.
  25. My earlier point is not to say how efficient councils are - I'm aware of my own experience in the area But if I was in line to fix this problem and read some of the blatant sneering going on here I'm not sure I'd be as willing to give my all. After an initial less-than-brilliant-remedy to some tagging it seems people who have replied have been helpful and deserve a little bit more respect/encouragement. Before the replies came in I woudl wager many people thought they would have to wait a lot longer for any kind of reply. If every email/conversation we had at work was posted for ridicule on a public forum I doubt we would be so willing to be helpful. Give them a chance to remedy it now they have been made aware I say...
