I'm not especially worried about a killer Atila I would worry about society in general if we regressed from the current justice system back to a time when mob-rule, err... ruled the land however. You would be going some to show that society wasn't much more violent back in dem days So given the 2 options, I'll stick with the current rule of law. That doesn't put me on the side of killers thangyouvermuch

removing the 10% bracket was a Bad Thing - but it didn't happen in this budget did it? I thought we were debating this budget and the impact thereof?

I want EVERYONE accused of ANYTHING - including me - to have their accusations written up in the tabloids THEN - I don't want no steeenking trial - I want the readers to judge me with only the article in front of them - none of that fancy evidence stuff And not only do I want the same people to sentence me - I ONLY want them to do so when they have JUST read the article and are at their MOST upset

weell - the straw poll of respondants on here so far suggests you are in the majority so by all means contact them and have a go at changing the situation As your upstairs however, do have a wave - I'm the Fr Ted figure at the back. the views of the Rye are lovely from up here... (tu)

David_Carnell is on FIRE today - and I agree with every word he sayeth sorry maximay but we are allowed to do many things - don't mean we should. And besides by your logic, people have every right to rant/chastise anyone else - it's a public forum after all innit? But here's the thing - its a public forum and your opinions/rants will be read by others. How do you want to come across? Or do you not care? If you don't care then why get upset if people pull you up? If you do care then maybe a modicum of restraint/thought/logic/reason would all help get your point across far better than simply pointing out that this is a public forum

I can tell you're young jocelyn - if you think this thread is "shirty" you should see some of the others ;-) I don't think anyone has gotten too shirty - your first post I basically agree with but equally can't get too worked up about - but as I went on to say re: your asthma that does make a difference and should form part ofthe complaint should you make one aaaanyway - Summer is coming and all that :)
-
jocelyn's asthma complaint I understand (I think) but I cannot believe that clothes can stink for hours after passing through the door of a bus and sitting at the back or upstairs. I mean I get on that thing everyday.. I know what smoky clothes smell like after pubs etc and not once have I ever had my clothes smell of smoke for more than seconds.. And given what ELSE is on those seats anyway, smoke is the least of it ;-) It's not a big thing for me MW, but I can see it's irritant value. What I can't see is how it could be a big thing for anyone (health notwithstanding) I mean a BIG thing is getting mugged, burgled, losing a loved one.... etc

snorky What do you do when you've finished your games - trade em, keep em, swap em with forumites? Mockney - have you finished Bioshock yet? Or even got to THAT BIT?

Dead Mother scam - still going
SeanMacGabhann replied to garnwba's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
for some reason I'm reminded of the scene in Ferris Bueller where Ed Rooney is trying to call Ferris' bluff: "- Ed Rooney - Ed, this is George Peterson. - How are you today, sir? - Well, we've had a bit of bad luck. Yeah, I heard (about your mother dying) I'm all broken up Boy, what a blow Yeah, it's been a tough morning. We've got a lot of family business. If you wouldn't mind excusing Sloane, I'd appreciate it. Sure, I'd be happy to You just produce a corpse, and I'll release Sloane I want to see this dead grandmother first-hand It's all right, it's Ferris Bueller I'm setting a trap for him Ed, I'm sorry, did you say you wanted to see a body? Yeah, roll her old bones over here and I'll dig up your daughter That's school policy Was this your mother? No, my wife's mother. " -
paragon Mockney and I have both been there of late - mine lasted 2 years so I'm not too bitter. Sending it back is only course of option (although with this weeks price cuts, you could get a new arcade back for ?140 which has HDMI out, a quieter fan/drive and allegedly more reliable) - just swap out the HD

Tina - apart from Azul who is a lovely guy an everything - a woman after my own heart

I'm all for the smoking ban in public places, and I get the 63 bus every morning at the start of the journey.. but I wouldn't go so far as to call this "totally unnacceptable" - a bit of a nose-wrinkle at the start of a journey at worst It would be different if the driver smoked with passengers on board. But as it is.. even tho' it is technically breaking the law.. it just doesn't seem to warrant that much fuss

you might be (and I'm glad to hear it) but the song you posted says "unavailable" - whassit?

Noisy nights for parts of Altima Court
SeanMacGabhann replied to Gerrard's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Gerrard I believe quite a few forumites live down that way so yuo should have some support - it's a painful situation to be in. I have had to move home when I lived in Devon for same reason Obviously I expect a fair bit of the old noise and music livig in London but loud music every night, all night and you can't sleep? That's not just inconvenient that can bring on horrible episodes through lack of sleep best of luck -
I was in NY last weekend and the final episode was airing - it were a right bugger avoiding spoilers The back page of the New York Times just contained one picture (of one of the corners) and the words "The End" - sigh.... At least I have all off series 5 still to watch cheers for the update char1ie

sometimes it seems like she's hitting on us (to this day my girl friend (who isn't my girlfriend) is convinced she was the object of affection)) Other times she just HITS us - we have been walking along the Lane, bumped into her and had her order us to wait and then follow her up the road... happy to oblige but still...

Not being a lesbian myself I have to rely on the votes of my lesbian friends when they come to stay - and in their opinion Inside 72 Black Cherry Bishop on a good night but on a bad night with too many geezers it's a no-no They have a fondness for the waitress in Tandoori Nights as well - but then we all do Slightly further (but not really) the Rye has always seemed to be the most populated

seriously Dom? By Azul's standards that one is pretty rooted in reality..

Michale P - being serious for more than a sentence becomes you - more please! I sense many posters who would be expected to post more on this subject have taken a back seat for some reason. Marmora Man has been the most eloquent and objective about the situation - would that more took the same route Politically I suspect (read: know) I am on the opposite side of the fence to MM and quids but quids is correct to at least point out that a lot of water has passed under the bridge since then and no-one else has really stepped up in the political arena to right her (depending on viewpoint) wrongs The only thing I would specifically take issue with in MM's post is: "Contrast this sense of purpose with 10 years of Blair-ism and 9 months of Brown-ism" Now apart from sharing a deep-seated loathing of TB and what new labour have become, I would argue that the first term of Blair's office was relatively heady stuff. Bank of England independance, minimum wage and reintroducing free museum and gallery entry to pick 3 disparate achievements off the top of my head compared with the second half of Mrs T's reign, followed by Major which were pretty appalling if we are talking about "sense of purpose" Whatever one's political convictions however, it's difficult to see anything more than tinkering at the edges from any newly elected governments given the current voting system, media coverage and general lack of joined-up-thinking between the voters and those they elect. It's too common for voters to be cynical about politicians but I suspect sitting on the other side of the fence you would see even more cynicism coming from voters about what they say they want and what they actually vote for

Tim Lott has been banging that drum for a couple of years now... but I never liked him any any of his guises anyway
