  1. yep - it's next Friday lunch time (14th)
  2. not just your opinion Ally - most people on here seem to love Si Mangia so It's me in the minority. But having tried 3 different Italian staples I can't believe people haven't had better examples elsewhere. A ragu sauce should be deep, dark and meaty whereas I found theirs light and overly sweet. Which people may prefer but I doubt many Italians genuinely favour the latter Maybe I've been unlucky - another trip to Si Mangia for me then...
  3. I had a great evening Met georgia, hibbs and Mike P in Bar Story where we stopped for a couple On to Ganapati where everyone seemed to enjoy the non-standard-issue decor and menu. More drinks (including a very gorgeous Cab Sauv from Australia - unfortunately it packed a 15.5% wallop - not a hope of finishing that!) and some gorgeous food (IMO) I had the Andhra Spicy Lamb with Paratha Pieces of leg of lamb cooked dry with onion, black pepper, chilli and garam masala, served with paratha. Which was much hotter than I expected (this a A Good Thing in my book) and there was plenty of it georgia had the Potato and Black eyed -Bean Curry Black eyed -bean and potatoes cooked home style with ginger, green chilli and garam masala served wtih raita, pickle and pappadoms which I had a dip into - I know vegetarian food has a fine tradition in Indian cooking and it was very nice but I wouldn't substitute for a meat dish The others had Kerala Kozhi Curry Chicken breast cooked in traditional roasted coconut & coriander masala Which appeared to have a very succulent chicken breast on the bone, if a tad on the small side. The parathas bulked things up nicely and were very fresh, hot and delish I loved every bit of my food and can happily recommend to everyone. Whilst it was a shame more people didn't turn up it allowed the 4 of us to have a good old natter and we even finished with another drink in the Montpelier on the way home
  4. I liked Dom's posts for the most part - think Annaj summed it up perfectly. Let;s have more of the real Dom in future! Scruffy Mummy - you are so right about the material on here.. and more than one volume for sure
  5. not the first post Mockney has posted as me (sniffs...)
  6. well done on the scoop annaj - for some reason I was resigned to it being a zizzi. A bland italian = meh. A really good one = a joy (I've been to Si Mangia twice now - and they are nice people but the food is only ok surely?)
  7. the menu for those who can't wait http://www.ganapatirestaurant.com/menu.html
  8. sorry SM - it was the line "I think alot of people like Lollyloz aren't really homophobic" that sounded a bit off I don't think there is any problem with having a seperate group either - but from the initial posts it did sound a bit "us" and "them" - people have expanded their initial posts tho so I doubt there is any issue left (apart from me thinking lozz asked a fairly benign question and was trated a bit sharply IMO)
  9. If the bed wasn't part of the original inventory how did it get there? (not meant as a rhetorical question sorry - meant as a "does it belong to anyone?" question If it's not part of the inventory you can dump it and get a new one (throroghly recommended) - there would be no obligation on teh landlord If the flat is let as "furnished" howver, I believe a bed is part of the term even if it;s not listed on the inventory (could be wrong, sorry)
  10. oooh loz, looks like you've been patronised What patronised means is........ (etc etc) Tis true that manny "hetties" (grrrrr) are ignorant of gay/lesbian issues - but I imagine people want to erase that divide not perpetuate it - or am I naive?
  11. I vaguely saw that in a paper yesterday too and thought the same thing as you Atila.. early April Fools and all that
  12. I have gone to watch many a Champions League game when they were ONDigital at the Castle - Haven't been to see football there for a while but I suspect they will (that said, Shaktar Donetsk v Arsenal on a cold winter's night, I seem to recall being the ONLY person watching the game)
  13. technically it's directly under PR station - it's in one of the arches, opposite the church
  14. Fear and Loathing - gosh...is there loathing? anna? belle? bignumber5??? group hug? I think the drinks are well on way to be organised - the discussion had long drifted from being about (that pub) and into other territory. Perhaps I should have put it in another thread
  15. does he drift up to the bottom of LL these days - I've noticed someone who fits teh description outside EDT several times over the last week or two He's pretty unavoidable and so possibly intimidating but seems to accept no quite quickly
  16. It's true - I did enjoy the bus in this morning *grins* It was like watching a different team to the last 4 weeks. Is this how Liverpool fans feel after watching European games? Hopefully we don't return to hum-drum on Sunday Having Fabregas back to his best was great to watch. The usal suspects Hleb/Flamini/Ade are getting all due praise but have to agree with Sagna - he is outstanding week in week out for us (as was Lauren but Sagna has teh added ability to actually cross a ball)
  17. oh go on - berate me! I'll stand by that statement And I had seen Keef's words (and re-used them to make my point again later on) As for PM's - don't talk to me about PM's - I need to do a serious clear out anyway but after the last 24 hours I'm amazed Admin hasn't had a word about the lack of server space Finally - maturing. You smell...... ;-)
  18. feel the good mood in this thread today! Atila is right when he says the papers go all "crisis!" when Arsenal hit a bad patch. Every single year. But then again, reading the overly-glowing write-ups today you would think we were the second coming. And that ain't true either (yet anyway...)
  19. say 7:30? Still hoping to make it down (I will of course argue the whole night if I do make it ;-) )
  20. Annasfield - the woman with a plan! Like your style CPT works as the main venue for me (good effort for Herne tho - does that qualify as a moral victory as we've not been before? Dunno - still think CPT is better suited) I once valued my acquaintance with annaj, before she stopped talking to me! (just kidding - it has turned into one of those discussions where every public post is preceded/superceded with a PM to explain "in person)
  21. ooh and now Annaj as well! Hope you're not shaking with anger. I thought that was a really well worded post One of the reasons I like the forum as how these things swell up from time to time. If I recall, when you first came to a forum drinks you said you had intended to come to others but each time an argument had broken out and put you off coming - plus ca change And to think I used to get accused of being overly fair on here - ahh memories If I have over-stepped the mark on this occassion then I hold my hands up - usually I can rely on Keef to go "err.. Sean have another look at what you just wrote" If both BB and annaj are adamant I have been judgemental in my comments then reason dictates that I have been - and maybe I should stop digging. But I'm still bothered that people will judge somewhere they haven't been so quickly. And what better chance to visit somewhere than with a big group
  22. You're right BB - I don't mind the kid gloves coming off at all - just a good clean argument I wouldn't say I'm content for Annaj and bignumber5 to miss a drinks - I understand why they would boycott the place but they (and I) have missed drinks before and we will again. But to not have a drinks at a pub because the pub has upset neighbours - well we could probably find neighbours willing to complain about every pub in the area You mentioned the PM's you received about the "pushing the boundaries" comment so I'm guessing it's unpopular - shame those people haven't PM'd me to say what they had to say or indeed put it out there in public. As I've said the Castle is not going to be the venue for this or any drinks by the sound of it - so I'm not sustaining the venue debate. I'm just concerned that "fear/concern/whatever" has won out and not any rational merits or otherwise of the pub. That's not being judgemental - that's just what's happened
  23. very good citizen! prefab sprout for sure... but crash? has to be cronenburg anyway... what a game
  24. Ach Annasfield I haven't been a smug Gooner for weeks - nothing to be smug about - but yes, very happy red and white bunny tonight so, no-one going then?
  25. * Swoon * * crash *
