  1. how did we miss yours PGC? Must not be one of the social-networking posse. Have a blinder !
  2. if they are parking there in the week it sounds like they are using the train station and driving from somewhere far-ish from a train station. But you are correct - they could probably be more savvy in getting there That said - it would appear that most people on here have more self-interest in mind than simply advising people to avoid unnecessary journeys. IMO of course
  3. If Ken is a law unto himself, he's a law that's been re-elected so a lot of people seem to "get" him Zephyr - with a slight pause to apoligise for the ferocity of the rest of the email (I don't know you after all) but ... I find the original post nigh-on fantasy. Someone who chooses to have a big family and drive a tank THEN starts to complain about a ?25 charge - people on public transport with families have been paying that for years. Grow up Out of all of the various leaders at least someone is paying more than lip service to both congestion AND environmental pollution. If you don't care about either of those then say so and put up. If you do care about those then it takes self-interest to new levels to start bleating only when you are affected. You could EASILY get around the ?25 charge a) I suspect you can afford it anyway. So you could pay b) park just outside the zone and walk the rest. What's that - no fresh air for the kids? Wonder why that is... c) get a more efficient tank But no - get a petition going. Start talking about money-grabbing "others". But do not take any responsibility at all for yourself. Don't start to differentiate between "flash" cars and family cars. You know full well the size and heft of the car you got and you know full well that a family of six can get by with less. You don't want to and that's fair enough. But don't assume we will all run to a petition A lot of us do want to see less congestion - buses run so much smoother without so many cars darling - and would like to see less congestion and pollution -better health for kids http://breathspakids.blogspot.com/2006/09/more-bad-news-about-traffic-pollution.html
  4. does it really matter if it's residents or not? The piece of road outside everyones' house is public highway. It don't belong to you. And every one of us who drives has driven outside ED - ergo we have parked outside someone elses gaff... I really don't like the "they ain't from 'round 'ere" vibe over this parking business
  5. agenda? from such a wide group of people? for shame
  6. Alan has put this in the ED section SOLELY with the purpose of seeing if it gets lounged - if it does there will be some wibbling about how Nunhead thread don't get lounged. Or something
  7. ba dum tss...

  9. it's probably fair to say it's no place for anyone worried about their alcohol intake - but more than compensated for by the company - so moos, sue and everyone else thinking about it but worried about how to introduce yourself - just remember, we have all had to go through it - it'll be fine. So come along. Ah go on

  11. cheers Derwent - however I now feel the need to publicly state I have NEVER "worked" any hairdresser at any establishment (ahem)
  12. just noticed it in the old property shop near the Mag - missed the name but think it's male orientated. Has anyone been in ?

  17. London Bridge is by far the worst of all of the bridges to cross as part of the commute - sooo many people it really does make one feel like an automaton. I'm lucky in that I'm now by Blackfriars bridge which is much more sedate by comparison. The hours of tedium however remain the same.....
  18. Somehow I had an idea this thread wouldn't quite die and would, Lazarus-like, be resurrected (you know, speaking of reason and things that actually happened. And that did happen. Definitely. A man was dead for 3 days and then he was "raised" - definitely definitely happened, that) Hmmm, sounds like I am one of the converted doesn't it But to be slightly less cynical - let's say it did cure malaria and aids - wouldn't that be fantastic for everyone? The patients would be healthy again and not have crippling diseases and homeopathy would be a proven winner oh but wait - it won't happen will it? Edit - I should have read that last link before my post - it says everything I meant I do like the "It has produced what has been described as "a convincing reduction in malaria attacks" been described by who exactly?
  19. I can feel another free-market thread coming on after that one spadetownboy You will get people saying that people's pensions are tied in with succesful companies so they need to do whatever etc etc I'm aware of the arguments but for what it's worth I'm with you on this one

  24. My word indeed - the last time I checked that video I took a note never to watch it again! But it is still worth a chuckle now. I have the CD single somewhere with some older Belew tunes on there Funny old song as well - it doesn't work but there are some good ingredients in there - bless it, it was always a cue for much of the crowd to get a drink on the S&V tour where it was played every night (incidentally, a beautifully conceived visual tour but a poor band and by the time it finished it was approx half the length of it's initial dates) Belew's ponytail at the time must NEVER be forgiven mind you (PS Jah - I picked up a recent Uncut magazine where the free CD was a compliation of tracks for Faces fans... not Faces songs but other bands with a similar spirit - I made a note to keep it handy for you... must dig it out)
