Is that Exit on PSP or one of the big boys?
-
you mean me Sean or seanmlow Sean? I can, with no little pleasure and a side-order of reassurance, tell you it wasn't me. I was in Fleet St all day today But I had someone else ask me if I was in the Gowlett last week when I wasn't so somebody is going around very similar to me beware or imitators! All that said, you'll know where to find me later this evening..:)-D

EDF Drinks - Tonight at The Crown & Greyhound
SeanMacGabhann replied to georgia's topic in The Lounge
Harry - we have a spot booked in the left hand bar (as you face the pub) and by 9pm or so I'd be amazed if you couldn't tell if it was us or not! Or you could do what I did at my first one and wander into clusters of people with a look that says "??????" and 10 times out of 10 someone will say "you looking for the forum - that's us" See you there PS thanks CWALD for sorting out my typing - it's gone to the fogs lately ;-) -
EDF Drinks - Tonight at The Crown & Greyhound

honestly, she becomes a hot shot lawyer and then forgets where she came from ;-) Hoping to get down to the Fog for 8:30 or so -
ozzyloz - yeah it is a bit doom and gloom and I don't always feel things are quite that bad. You can see the seeds of things happening, challenging the status quo but after the last couple of weeks of HFW-bashing, and a couple of people saying it's a "holier than thou" position to take, it gets to me sometimes Keef - why do I care? Why wouldn't anybody? If you think about the reality of what's happening in some of the intensive vegetable and livestock farms we aren't that far removed from slavery. do many people suppot the emancipation of slaves in the 19th century or did we have people saying "why do you keep banging on about those slaves and children up chimneys? what do you care?" Not - I quickly hasten to add - that I'm saying that's how you feel ! But I don't understand the "why do you care" question
-
Oof - so many ways Keef, and being at work I haven't got time to write the essay I'd want to Because over the years we are seeing the power of so much, concentrate in the hands of so few. Even in my lifetime I remember when most of the food and drink I consumed was directly traceable to somewhere or someone I knew. be it the lamb, fish or milk. And alreadythen food companies were consolidating Now, just a simple burger, for example, which should be a slice of beef, minced is usually an amalgam of dozens of different cattle, from different countries and if any infections happen the whole food chain is compromised. Not only that but the immigrant workers often used in the slaughter houses are exploited, the livestock treated badly, the farmers barely given subsistence, the person selling me the burger is on minimum wage - but because the food company at the top of the chain dictates all facets of the process, they clean up financially - that's not right. And the power has been wrested away from ordinary people who might want to compete That's just one example - it doesn't apply to meat. It applies across the whole food chain (if I'm talking about bar/restaurant chains) And as soon as someone tries to expose it we get a lot of the media (often owned by the same companies ) shouting them down We're not in some Orwellian nightmare yet - but we're on the right road

what do you reckon to the 1p charge per email as a deterrent? I know it goes against some principles but still.. I daren't log in to my inbox anymore - and that's even if I use a clean new address and never enter it into any web form

It's an old argument but whilst technicall incorrect, AllforNun is spot on. And I'm a fan of all three -

EdOldie - I'm almost inclined to agree with you. But compared to the actual elected Labour party where anything except leadership is apparent, I'm seduced by the whole "I'm a leader, this is what I'll do, elect me and I'll do it" thing I get from Ken i haven't been betrayed by much stuff he's done on the sly - but I'm all ears as to what that might be It's not that Labour consult per se - but it's leadership by polls. Whatever Ken has done against the grain has, on the wholem been for the greater good. IMO of course. I don't think it can be called a dictatorship. If that were true, when he stood for reelection in the past he would have been turfed

After reading this thread over the course, I'm inclined to wish I had Loz, Tillie, DulwichMum and Asset as parents. Loving the wisdom. Because of my lack of expertise I can generalise but I've learned much from this

How many election promises has he broke? I know about the routemaster ones but most of them seem to go ahead.. and what is based on? Isn't any mayor not going to be able to please everyone all the time? So you could level that accusation at anyone

true but the original masters would have been done at different times and possibly studios - but almost certainly with different guidelines. if it was the other way around I would have been surprised, but the chronology is about right -
Are the trains getting busier?
SeanMacGabhann replied to peckhamboy's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Cassius - a glib answer would be if you can't afford ANY of them then it's time for a new job Me I get the bus and combine with a length section of my commute as a walk - it does take me a bit longer and won't be possible for everyone but it's a pretty stress free combo - I always know exactly how long I'll be and I'm rarely stuck on transport for too long -

There was a period when I would get remastered CD's for the very reasons mentioned - about 99-2000. Things seemed about right but many of the cd's I've bought in the last year leave me exhausted after a few tracks...soooo compressed Thirded on the Pixies tho -
I know - it's a beautiful system isn't it Mike? Let's hope the whole thing doesn't dera..ooops
