Are the trains getting busier? Nah - it's just the new paintwork bah dum tshhhhh I've been using 40 and 63 buses since the new year and can't say I've seen it much busier - apart from the number of people who think it's fine to stand in the 2 square metres between the exit and the stairs Can't comment on the trains sorry -
they really looked after us at a recent Forum meeting - the few times I've been since I've not seen any hen-type activity but as it's off the main drag I guess teh vibe will be different I have a soft spot for it even if I know what you mean

I know that shouldn't be a disturbing image Mockney, but it is... ;-)

EDF Drinks - Tonight at The Crown & Greyhound
SeanMacGabhann replied to georgia's topic in The Lounge
none more so chuff - glad to hear you are coming along. Several first timers promising to come too so you won't be alone on that score -
zactly - I've spent several posts saying how I hate Arsenal fans using it against Spurs so, you know, I had to!
-
Mockney - is that agree as in agree with Keef's assesment, or after a few episodes you agreed with Keef but then felt things explode exponentialy I would certainly agree with Keef for much of series 1 - but by the last 4 or 5 episodes things had changed (for me anyway) On the back of Keef's comments tho I did a google on "Sopranos versus Wire" and found some interesting reading Oh and the realism thing: that comes from the police, politicians, dealers, etc, all of them saying the same thing - this is finally reall and it's finally close to what our life is like. Also several of the characters are played by real life people. The real-life Avon character who existed in the 70s shows up in several episodes as a reverend who looks after a community programme for example

ED to London City Airport
SeanMacGabhann replied to 8 Track Cartrige Family's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Sidhue - you make good points there. the delays are something I've noticed in the past. But on balance it's still a noticeable step-up -
good news for Devil May Cry fans DMC demo on PS3 and 360 this week

well series 5 focuses on The Media so it looks like they will get a going over! What about seeing THAT guy in THAT bar for a brief shot in series 3 as well? I like Steve Earle's cameos as well
-
You can tell by the speed of eveents that the end of series 3 came about because, although there were a series 4 and 5 written, there was also a chance they wouldn't get recommisioned after 3 But yeah, then ending of 3, the impact, the fallout (McNulty;s line near the end) - have to be careful not to spoiler And you're right barrymarshall - all other TV shows are like pantomome afterwards. If they are OBVIOUSLY pantomime like Heroes they can still be enjoyable.. but anything pretending to be "serious" just looks like farce. Patronising farce at that *feels mild sense of satisfaction that the thread has made 4 pages so far and most people who watched have been converted. Mwah hah hah*

ED to London City Airport
SeanMacGabhann replied to 8 Track Cartrige Family's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Another highlight, is coming into land at City Airport - surrounded by water. I know it's not uncommon in other parts of the world but I always think "london??" You're right Mockney it ain't that close to the City - I suppose Beckton?East Ham Airport would be the closest The first time I used City Airport I lived in East Ham - I travelled from St James to the airport on the way out but when I got in a cab on the way back and said East Ham I ws indoors in 10 minutes - I couldn't believe it. Not that that is enough to make anyone want to love in East Ham mind you (horrific flashbacks to "Big Del's Disco") -
"scum"?? I've picked up on Atila for less than that Mr Keef!

ED to London City Airport
SeanMacGabhann replied to 8 Track Cartrige Family's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I'll echo MrBen's endorsement - it's very hard to face other airports when you are used to City - the size and speed of the place is so refreshing I can't match his last-minute story (doubt anyone can!) but I can tell you about the time we went to San Fran - no flights from City and we usually fly from Gatwick as a preference (that bit easier than Heathrow to get to and from) When we loaded the taxi up with bags on the way to the airport and drove off the driver said North or South terminal - I couldn't remember and the tickets were in the boot so I said we had plenty of time and they aren't that far apart just drop us at the first one we get to (anyone NOT know where this is going.....?) Got to the terminal, got the tickets out, checked the flight numbered, checked the boards....no match Off we go to the other terminal.... No. Match... hmmm (yes yes it seems obvious now) Checked the tickets again. Heathrow. We had booked them months before and just assumed it was Gatwick as usual.. Ran to the taxi rank asked how long and how much to Heathrow - on a clear M25 we would likely be 5 minutes early - but how often is the M25 clear To say things were tense in the cab is an understatement. But we made it with 2 minutes to go. -
How do you get the red "new" to come up on new threads ...?
SeanMacGabhann replied to Caron's topic in The Lounge
my understanding is that red means new since you last read a message and that blue means that SOME new since you last read or posted.. -
yep, but well deserved from a Spurs perspective I'll be supporting them in the final - can't say fairer than that can I Jah? (who am I kidding - Jah won't surface for hours yet I imagine)
-
good point Mike - thinking about it I can't think of anything that I do buy in tetrapak - maybe OJ from time to time but I've started to just buy oranges now
-
Terrific first half I don't think Arsenal have played that badly - just Spurs have the vim and mentality to do this tonight It's as if they have said "enough" and decided to ply without fear Arsenal do have it in them to pull goals back in the second half - but I think it's Spurs night

well, I had no resets, so that looks good -
How do you get the red "new" to come up on new threads ...?
SeanMacGabhann replied to Caron's topic in The Lounge
Admin I know it's known that the red "new"s happen after a thread is lounged - do you think everyone inherits the unread flag from whoever does the lounging - ie if you are fully up to speed with all threads when you lounge something, no-one notices, but if there are a few outstanding we all get the. Fr'example had you read up to the final monica posting on the EDF drinks thread when you lounged the Michael Gambon thread? -
