  1. Flashback - a pseudo sequel to Another World Played both on my Amiga and loved them both to death I would recommend the recent XBLA version of Prince of Persia as a wonderful 2d update on the 2d original
  2. I've got a spare power pack for a 360.. seriously - if you want it it's yours
  3. That "occassionally" is reckoned to be a 1 in 20000 chance mind you The Bioshock reservations were strongest after the Cohen section of the game (which was just wonderful) - after that a combination of game-forum-gossip and sameiness of the enemies discouraged me from playing - but I did return and was really glad I finished the game Some great set-pieces ("would you kindly...." and then just before the final show-down it's possible to ... oh I'll be quiet now. But do finish it That includes you too Mockney!
  4. Excellent, Kel! would have made a great youtube clip....
  5. do you mean "err" as in "to err" or as in the sound one makes when giving a second opinion aka "uhmm" Maybe if you hadn't said "only one way"?? aaanyway - considering how close the airport is compared to the other two it can be a pain to get to - given the cost of flights etc etc and even tho the request is for public transport I would advise a mini cab - should be 12-15 quid which as part of the whole deal isn't too bad
  6. You had several chances in first half but just didn't convert (a feeling Arsenal fans know too) I prefer Carraghrs line which is "there were no boardroom problems for several of the last few years so what excuse did we have then. What's going wrong on the pitch is down to the players" Gerrad himself looks well out of sorts - he was like Mark Lawrenson in the 80s - shooting from 40 yards for fun and never coming close
  7. I thought they were very good pics - and I really like that last one of Mr and Mrs Asset Mon, that was me next to you and you didn't seem anything like as drunk as to forget the conversation we had - sheesh ;-)
  8. it's easier with predictive text - just spell n-i-n-e on the text message. some people send that 3 times but I just put it 3 times in a row on the same message - save time entirely redundant ;-)
  9. you really think *Bob* is trolling? I thought it was just pointing out: recycling = good some councils > other councils at collecting and dealing with recycling
  10. I wrote the following paragraph back in May, on this forum, on this subject. I stand by pretty much every word of it: "As for references to "chavs" et al - there are some people in this world who do equate any working class person as such and that is poor form. There are many middle-class people on this forum but also plenty working-class and definitely lot's of brought-up-workingclass (and the odd poshie too!) - it's a big tent (for ?80) and one of the reasons I like coming here. But to paraphrase Chris Rock, if I get mugged on the way home it's not going to be by a member of the WI - it will be someone with the uniform we know and love and that's why people who wear the usual caps/trackies etc run the risk of being labelled. I don't think they are labelled just because they are working class (plenty of working class people choose to not wear those clothes. And yes I know that wearing them doesn't automatically make you anything)"
  11. Do pundits do that much? Only time I've heard it is when it's innapropriate (Sol Campbell allegations, Wenger allegations, Beckham's preferences with Victoria etc) I agree with crowds having the right to making their feelings known - Blackburn got back into the game on Saturday partly because the crowd got stuck in - but it does depend what those feelings are When I go to Arsenal games I love the pro-Arsenal singing, the moans directed at Sendero (because he just isn't good enough - but when it comes to the "stand up if you hate Tottenham" I re-question why I bother going. As Alan Partridge might say it's doesn't take too much with 60000 people for it to degenerate into "ugly, mindless violence"
  12. And in further Ted news... Follow that van...
  13. I was being sarcy But then Brendan you are the master of dry delivery so you are probably doing the same
  14. can you name any that do?
  15. :)-D Brendan - but as the thread is polling specifically I've kept schtum on the whole subject
  16. supernatural powers, by their NATURE, can not be contained by mere reason and logic. They say "pah" to your experimentation!
  17. photos are usually taken by Andrew Black, Mockney Piers and occassionally Keef - sometimes they get uploaded and sometimes they don't
  18. on here mlteenie????? Start a thread called "Test post - please do NOT respond to this thread" and before you know it it will have 5 pages of responses, taking in everything from "why isn't 7/4 time used more often in rock music" to "I've lost my cat - again" via Louisa bemoaning that considering it's trying to be a cinema, Moo Too should show more B&W films
  19. That's a good point and one I didn't think about - apologies
  20. bawdy-nan - I don't know where you live but assuming it's ED somewhere you appear to overcomplicate your bus journeys -I will do a lot to avoid changing on any journey Old kent road is surely no more than one bus away - I live at the Plough end and get the 63 every day? Greenwich - ditto one bus - walk down to Peckham and bus from there (could get a 12 down to peckham if pushed - still only 2 buses) Clapham junction - one bus (37) No question a car will ease most journeys - but everywhere local is perfectly do-able without hassle
  21. *barely* on topic Mark ;-) Louisa more options on the menu are fine and dandy but what you actually did at the top of this page is express incredulity at the mere suggestion that cod be scaled back Why is cod stock an issue just for government or EU - don't the people who put the demand in "supply and demand" ie the customers have a lot to do with it? As for what the sea cow does and doesn't sell, have a look at the menu http://www.theseacow.co.uk/ - with about 10 fish on the menu as well as mussels etc I would suggest that rather than stick saveloys and pukka pies on there, it is great to have somewhere that spec-ialises on something. If you got to Emily's (or similar) and want fish you just don't get that kind of choice do you? So there it is - we have the option to go either or - I don't see what the problem is
  22. Louisa As you come from a family of fishmongers, what is your take on cod stocks? Is all of the available evidence which suggests that cod fishing has to be scaled back or else face collapse, simply wrong? If it is, what do you base it on? If it is correct, then what alternative to "scaling back a national dish" is there/
  23. and a very good post to Quids (although naturally I'll disagree with some of them ;-) so, without further ado; 1) Betting shops are largely empty Only one (or two) people have expressly made this point. Sometimes they are busy and sometimes they aren't. Just like the other establishments you highlight. ie we (that's we as an quids and me btw!) agree 2) Gambling is the ruin of all gamblers and bookies result in all sorts of social ills Don't think anyone has made that point - certainly not with the "ALL". If they did make that point I would disagree with them. so another one we agree on. But it can definitely ruin families far quicker and without any awareness on their part - compared to (say) alcoholism where it's a year on year increase with all the signs becoming more evident 3) Bookies are anti-social full of misfits Can't find anything to support this. The anti-social could be an interpretation of me saying that restaurants and mbrs are convivial places whereas bookies aren't - which is true if we broaden out the client base. I have been to bookies, I do know what the score is and have had fun there - with other people too! But I wouldn't get very far if I suggested Lady MacGabhann and pals might care to join me.. so, not sure if I can full agree on this point 4) Bookies somehow cause social harm to surrounding areas and attract the wrong crowd It's a point that could be made but as you rightly point out the same is true of bars etc - although only in a bookie can someone go in and end up losing not only all of his/her own money but that of their families as well (without them knowing - yet). So I half agree with this one 5) You only need one Don't think anyone has made that point - I think some people have said we have enough in the area and there are many more than one... but yeah you're not realistically going to tear from Crystal Palace Rd to Lordship Lane bottom end and then up to The Plough end to compare odds So in short: I'm not against bookies opening but if someone was to directly compare them to bars/restaurants then I know which I would prefer MORE of....
