  1. Agree on Tandoori Nights but was upset to hear a friend went there recently with his lady and both their meals were as bad as they have had. One expected a hot handy and one expected a mild Korma. The handi was bland and the Korma was "boiled water". Having been a bazillion times I found it hard to believe but this guy is very trustworthy. Maybe a bad day in the kitchen
  2. zephyr - I think it's more basic than that - it's the c, the i, the a, the l, the i, the s which spells a rival to the v the i the a the g the r the a drug
  3. Just caught this so it feels way to late too add to the chorus of "glad you're oks" - but I am and also think you've acted really well about the hole situation (and I so know what fractionater means - even if it's wrong and that)
  4. I think when snorky said "little man" he was being sarcastic. Or something
  5. if you can't, then something somewhere is wrong. It's pretty much opposite. Next to the kebab shop opposite (unless you are susyp in which case you are standing waaaaay further down LL - sorry susyp!)
  6. Wacky-hair guy in SMBS is a great laugh - as are all of the people in SMBS I find The don't look like they take any nonsense mind - if someone ventured in with an attitude of "my good man bring me some tamarind" (and I'm not saying that was you spangles) they probably wouldn't get the full smile, no Cheese shop I frequent less (not being a cheese guy, nothing to do with the shop) but I have picked up some ham and preserves from time to time - seem fine to me
  7. It has replaced Moghul Spice (who I thought were pretty ok and a lot cheaper)
  8. Very good post all the same Barrymarshall - I enjoyed reading that
  9. rob, I hear you, I do But if you are going to (politely) tell people off for not paying attention to an area, you should be aware as a frequent reader of the forum that we have had a good old discussion on this already, no? Only teasing really The consensus when we spoke about it was that those who had tried the other branches gave it a 7ish out of 10 - ie it's not going to bring an awful lot to the Lane. Fairly pricey too don't you think?
  10. Was it the bearded team Jah??
  11. Mos is the official spokesperson but yep - everyone welcome. The standard is reasonably hight but quite competitive! Oh and it's usually the Wed night of a week (and sometimes Sun afternoon)
  12. Yep, echoing Piers' words, with the current crop of console games it's possible to dip in as and when opportunity arises I so know how badly a WoW type game would impact on mine and other's lives I daren't
  13. Hoopers Plough has a couple of telly's just for rugby
  14. Booking tables - I seriously doubt it. Best get somewhere early and settle in Has anyone watched the games at the Monpelier. Massive screen - just wondered if they have sorted the sound out?
  15. * coughs * Have a look at the topic again - we can the start the "Towns of Britain" thread in t'Lounge
  16. It's a wonder Sheffield didn't suffer another economic decline - half of ED seems to have studied or lived there at one point Anyone for a pint in the Lescar? Ooops - off topic
  17. * young Brendan sounds like he needs just the tiniest push and we have him *
  18. jayd5 Like the idea for the dissertation - and as you've already noted there is plenty of grist for the mill on this forum The recent thread about late night behaviour on LL, and it's wider parallels across the country, boils down to pretty much what you seem (to me anyway) to be suggesting - namely that many, many, many people across all socio-economic groups behave because it's what their peers do, or at least without wider consideration. Which is fine and dandy, and known about but in an age where "individual" is king how can it be? I hope you share the work you are doing. Don't worry about judging anyone, I'll do that ;-)
  19. I think now would be a good time to re-acquaint ourselves with the definitive text on the matter of class and behaviour Author: *Bob* Published: 2007 (EDF Press) "Let's not beat around the bush. A cock is a cock. And there are cocks in every demographic of society. Middle class cocks are stand-offish, drive look-at-me cars, have nothing to talk about except their work and possessions and and are snobby and smug. Working class cocks take delight in being aggressive and threatening, don't care about the area they live in, act unsociably and selfishly within a shared environment and start fights because someone looked at them in a funny way. There are more middle class cocks in ED now, and less working class cocks. But the cock percentage is roughly the same."
  20. checks the Liverpool one again... 45? adopts Jeremy Paxaman esque "yyyeessssssss"
  21. spot on Jah Out of 28 odd songs in their repertoire, maybe 4 or 5 are much cop which is a shocking return really. But that's 4 or 5 more songs than most people think/agree with me on so...
  22. If I say the rhythm section on that track is the same as Tin Machine Jah, will it put you off?
