  1. I went into a shop in Peckham a few weeks back, at the Rye end. Sells a lot of very big and very cheap kitchenware (when I say big I mean you good fit 10 whole chickens in some of these pots) Can't remember the name of the place but highly recommended
  2. now way Bellenden Belle - that's what i was going to make! I shall instead be making it tomorrow now ( coz the butcher's isn't open on a Monday - bah!) Tonight shall be some combo of chicken slow cooked in a painfully hot sauce and crisped up at the end
  3. great song David - and I love both versions. Oldham's voice in the background of the Cash version I find particularly poignant
  4. ah yes.. when your argument seems to be "you against rest of the " what better way to defend yourself than to start flinging around accusations of a "clique". The rest of the world is a hell of a clique Spangles.. Name names so we can say whether it's true or not
  5. door to door from top of LL takes me 70 minutes or so to Tower Bridge or Blackfriars I substituted doing that 2 or 3 times a week to walking from E&C every day but I do recommend it to everyone. It's good to know it's do-able should the city gridlock
  6. I was only being light-hearted - I don't buy the scenario either But I dragged middle-England into it because I spent the last 3 days in Daily Mail central and forgot how very opposed some people are to any sense of collective action even if it were needed.....
  7. CWALD - don't have kids myself and not sure what qualifies as cheap but I found out about this place last week and quite fancy it myself http://www.londonbutterflyhouse.com/index.html Walking through all those butteflies just flying around sounds cool.... (and it's moving to Lincoln soon so..)
  8. "James Nesbitt at the NZ v France match, aisle 431, row M, seat 11, wearing a pale blue beret, supporting France, telling the women around him he was an actor" Maybe the women around him just asked what he did for a living after they had gotten to know each other? Apart from that detail there doesn't sound much wrong with this "tidbit" anyway - gregarious Irish man with an eye for ladies.. sounds ok to me
  9. In truth I've not been to Foyles for a while so it might have changed, but I always found the staff in there to be brilliant about books
  10. Easy CWALD, that would only be a problem if the majority of middle-England was looking out only for itself and would vote against any collective effort to address the situation by... ....oh wait. You're right - I'm coming with you
  11. Fixed that for you Spangles.. you don't have to like an area but to call an area where lot's of people on here live, and are happy there, a turd is pretty insensitive no?
  12. It being the forum and not Inside 72 I'm guessing? I remember back in the day (3 or 4 years ago) there was talk of 72 opening up an upstairs bit - can't see that ever happening And isn't The Bishop opening it's upstairs as well?
  13. There aren't MANY reasons to go to Croydon but this place Beer Circus has always been an oasis. Hundreds of beers - But hurry, closes down soon..
  14. ach Keef - I was only gently mocking a rival fan's hopes by paraphrasing a current hit in the pop-parade. Didn't mean to hit a nerve I wish Bolton held on to Sammy Lee for another week - I hate playing teams the week after they lose a manager - there is always a bounce effect .... And yeah RVP is a loss - we normally miss him most seasons through injury but he has been so central this year we shall see who steps up...
  15. I'm a cat person too but haven't had one for ages. And snorky is spot on about their owners Don't even get me started on scary-cat-ladies
  16. "my fingertips are holding on to the cracks in [my argument] and I know that I should let go.. ...but I can't" ;-)
  17. Pharmacists Ph*** Phrogs
  18. Tommy C That gag is already on the wall of the men's at the EDT (still funny tho... (tu))
  19. I agree with Keef we shouldn't repeat venues so quickly I like the idea of The Drum (but hasn't that also been a venue) Sean H-L is the one who prompted this discussion AND lives near the FHT AND is a venue we haven't done.... * coughs * Omrith is also next door and could be an early stomach-liner
  20. lol Keef. I think I know the sort of gal As for defending myself - cheers, but you never know. And besides I took it upon myself to speak for "us" ;-) I agree to a point - there is SOME room for both. But there comes a tipping point where you turn around one day and don't recognize where you live (and despite some posts in recent weeks, the arrival of Foxtons etc hasn't changed the area THAT much) Talking of Islington (elsewhere) , that O2 centre that opened up there - not long ago before it opened there was a big club (The Blue Note, some smaller record shops and a continuation of the area vibe) Since 02 opened it's now crawling with Mallrats and a low-level sense of threatening behaviouyr as everyone competes to shop in the same 10 branded stores as anywhere else. God I hate that place. And it's home to one of the most cynical music venues I know
  21. *sigh* how adorable....
  22. not Sean M-L? no matter ;-) Speaking of next forum drinks, has teh next venue been decided upon? Where's the commitee when you need 'em? Sean MG EDIT FOR *DOH* REASONS
  23. 3 SCHOOLGIRLS SUSPECTED OF BREEDING POISONOUS SNAKES IN PHARMACY LAB TO SELL VENOM TO FUND LOCAL CRIME SPREE
  24. So can you tell us what coffee place it WAS going to be karter?
  25. * coughs * (again) I'm liking this Sean guy but can we differentiate when addressing please? I get confused!
