  1. Well that woman They do seem to be a genuine small outfit - whereas Piaf was part of a large corporation and just a brand. Hopefully this will mean some proper attention to detail. I've got an open mind at this point
  2. Well if this thread doesn?t tempt Huguenotback now I don?t know what will
  3. I?m SO glad I knew about all of this when I got a train back from Surrey Quays to Forest Hill on Monday If I didn?t know about it.. and I did, I definitely did, I might have walked to the bus stop outside The Capitol before realising the road was closed. And then I might have walked back towards Sydenham thinking I can catch a bus there. And that bus stop on Dartmouth Rd by the library must be one of the longest gaps between bus stops in London at the best of times. And then, because there was no notices on that bus stop I MIGHT have waited oooh 30 mins for a bus before giving up and heading for a cab office And I might have been a tad hacked off But thankfully all of that was bypassed, because, as I say, I did know about this already.
  4. The PS3 doesn?t allow instant playback only the xbox currently offers that ? so you?ll have to download first (in the case of HD that can take a while) Range-wise neither service is as comprehensive as it could be ? I think we are in a transitionary phase where all the contracts about exclusivity and rights with rental stores, lovefilm etc are just about still in place but it is the future You can buy a lot of films on there to keep, but I?m not sure I would ever do that ? if I?m buying I?ll want a physical copy
  5. Oh Lordy no ? I never watch films on a laptop But using an iphone (for instance, other phones ARE available) I can rent a film on that, plug it into TV and I?m away Alternatively both xbox and playstation now offer rental services (in the xbox case you can watch full 1080p HD movies near instantaneously so you don?t even need to download first) New TVs are also coming out with services built in so it?s all happening quite quickly
  6. Even Lovefilm and the like have a limited lifespan IMO.
  7. But in most cases non-halal meat in this country isn't slaughtered to any great standard is it? The "intention" might be there but in a way that's worse when it's so badly performed UK slaughter of poultry
  8. Jah - it's definitely still playing up. I can see comments on mobile phone versions but not on a pc. Most peculiar. Momma
  9. Is it not also the case that, assuming we fixed the ?negative influences at home and elsewhere? problem, and then we fixed the fair schooling for all problem, we still end up in a situation where however many thousand kids leave school, and only a smallish percentage of them can fill the better paid jobs whilst the rest will have to take what?s left (if anything at all) Now a number of those leftovers will use options, travel until something better comes along etc ? but the fact remains that because so many jobs are poorly paid and yet need doing, that all that positive education and support will come to nothing. It just isn?t possible for everyone to do well at school and get a good job Which isn?t to say you shouldn?t aim to improve all of those things, but I still think that as long as the wealthy are seen as successful and those who struggle are seen as ?well, they could have chosen better or worked harder? then social problems will multiply.
  10. Have I missed something? By strict rules, do you mean the conditions in which most battery-farmed chickens are held and slaughtered for example? I'm not making any claims on behalf of kosher or halal slaughtering, and certainly not on the grounds of religious beliefs do I think inhumane practice should be excused, but this country has a long way to go before it can claim humane slaughter across the board
  11. Their is a fair amount of dross in there to be fair, but it's a goldmine of foreign film classics and unknown US indie gems Indie business are going to struggle but let's be honest - video shops of any denomination (indie or corporate) are all history, bar the shouting
  12. God forbid anybody should be interested in anything other than the top 20 Sainsbo's flogs - sheesh Anyway 61k a year rent - a bit prohibitive in these times perhaps?
  13. me too - let's have 3 cheers for liv... oh ;-)
  14. Oh give me strength - our best player pre-season and in Sunday's game, succumbs to Arsenal's perpetual injury thingy
  15. And I?m not suggesting you have an agenda ? violent crime IS worrying. But worrying about violent crime is more likely to cause unhappiness that any actual assault And looking at the violent criime figures tab bears this out ? it?s not showing Jan ? May from 2009 so we can?t compare the whoel of that period but one or two months of peaks and a couple of months of troughs and although 26% sounds alarming the numbers themselves are pretty small (which is no consolation to anyone involved but if the figures plummeted to just 2 incidents the argument would still be the same)
  16. Althought that 26% violent crime figure is actually 17 incidents up to 21 ? not quite as alarming really And looking at the 12 month trend there doesn?t seem to be anything major changing
  17. The link you posted shows only a 2.5% increase compared to this time last year, and of teh 3 months shown, 2 of them are down on the same 2 months last year Mar 2010 shows a pretty major DIP in crime compared to the previous year - why not ask why that was? EDIT - sorry I was looking at the overall figures
  18. touch? Ms Picky
  19. margarine is devils food tho? ? spread it on some bread and theow it out.. vermin won?t touch it. A warning sign right there And I can be Mr Picky from Picksville who has just returned from a picky refresher course and clarify we are talking about the Tesco on East Dulwich Rd and not East Dulwich Grove?
  20. What Jeremy said - and a digital signal that breaks up is really harsh on the ears You can find all manner of indoor aerials that advertise how good they are for digital TV but I've wasted money on more than a couple
  21. ongoing updates here but about 4 weeks at latest estimate
  22. Ben I was in a similar position a while back after moving to a new place ? it?s surprising how many places don?t have standard aerials in 2010 but there it is. You?ve identified the 2 basic options available to you (3rd option is to go cable/Virgin route I guess) But for all my looking I don?t think you can get any connector/convertor
  23. Everything keef just said
  24. My sympathies go out to anyone suffering from food-poisoning, and possibly some posters were a little quick to jump on a first-time poster That said I?m not sure any retailer can guarantee all fruit to be 100% bacteria free (not without wanton waste anyway) so I?m not sure what the point of the original post was ? if a shop is consistently selling bad fruit and veg we will hear a lot more about it. If it was just a bad batch then it?s just an unfortunate thing that can happen to anyone but isn?t really anyone?s fault But the sort of name calling indulged in by the OP subsequently? Uncalled for
