  3. Next week's installment: "Should old people be banned?"
  4. OK, I take that back then! Still... the reduced capacity of the 7:46 meant that half of the passengers were left on the platform. On the bright side, at least the new improved frequency meant that I was only 10 mins late.
  5. Why were at least two trains (7:46 and the 9:21) reduced to only 3 carraiges, with no explanation? I was late to work (again) because of the trains, and I heard someone on the later train collapsed because of over-crowding. I know it's not your area Barry, but it would be appreciated if you could look into it because it's not really acceptable.
  6. I think he's quite funny. While this isn't quite as good as "Too many trees in East Dulwich", it's still up there with "Call for the abolition of Gyms" and "We are too reliant on Pasta". 7/10
  7. This is more of a suburban area than Shepherd's Bush, and you can't expect to have the same range of restaurants within a short journey. Frankly an Iranian or Lebanese place would struggle to survive - unless it was bloody good. What we have here is mainly tried-and-tested generic Indian/Thai/Chinese/Italian, plus a decent gastropub and a nice Modern British(?) restaurant. But if you expand your search to the wider South London area you'll find quite a few Japanese and African restaurants (as well as discovering the joys of the local bus routes).

I totally agree - I'm not sure how to progress now, since my communications with the council have lead me to something of a dead end. Maybe councillors Veronica Ward and Peter John would be able to help?
  9. Maybe something like ?20? I guess it depends how well you know them, and how rich you are.
  10. I think Liz is referring to Roundshaw Park. That seems to be on the site of the old Croydon airport. South Norwood Country park is in Norwood - i.e. nowhere near Ikea.

  13. There's already a thread about it here: http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?20,473842 I thought they painted quite an accurate picture of Rye Lane. It's not always the most charming of places. 'leafy villagey' peckham rye... oh my...
  14. Low-brow, sensationalist, and pointless. The posh girls and the Peckham girls were equally unlikeable. I quite enjoyed it. "If I came from the same background as you, I'd probably be smashing windows and... and robbing banks and things too"
  15. I'm sure if you'd just stumped up ?30 for a couple of new panels, and asked the good people of the EDF to donate some man-power, it would all be sorted by now.
  16. Huguenot was alright, hope he'll come back. OK, he did sometimes come across as a borderline aspergers case, but at least he was never boring.
  17. I saw a poster on Avondale Rise for a lost black cat...
  18. And so it should be. I always think that anyone who says they "enjoy" their job must have a really crap social life and no interests.
  19. Pain. Horrible pain and suffering.
  20. Awesome. Thanks Barry.
  21. Izzy Stradlin and the Ju Ju Hounds
  22. Mockey... so "Los Endos"... you're right I don't like the song, it's effects-soaked nothingness. But yes, there is some nice drumming in there. I was impressed with the rolls on the bell of the ride. "Best drummer ever" though? Not even close. That accolade might have to go to Buddy Rich. Not really someone I'd listen to, but for pure ability, he's hard to beat.

Do you know what that cleaning was done? It was terrible earlier this week. Part of the problem is that the surface is very uneven, so large puddles form in the dips. And there aren't many drains on the platform.
  24. You should hear what he calls me.
  25. I guess you could argue that the band have shown versatility (especially with their pioneering "Metalli-ballads"), but Lars plays pretty much the same thing on every song, just at different tempos.
