  1. Great idea, don't know why someone hasn't thought of this before. Oh, hang on...
  2. Good track. Not a massive fan of Face To Face, but you can't go wrong covering material like that. This thread has reminded me of the forthcoming "our band could bbq your life" weekender at the Windmill, Brixton... various bands covering all your favourite US underground bands (Husker Du, Black Flag, Dinosaur Jr, Replacements, etc). I might check it out.
  3. I can't see Brendan's vid (blocked at work)... but I love Sugar (also Husker Du and Bob Mould's solo stuff). Which song is it?
  4. Citizen, surely a single piece of "hundreds and thousands" would just be a "one"?
  5. Street Fighting Man - The Rolling Stones And Their Bottoms
  6. My Star - Gameface
  7. I thought he chilled on Sunday... sorry no, that was someone else.
  8. I actually quite like that station building, it would be a shame if they spoiled it. I like the adjoining pub too.
  9. Pedestrians have right of way? Only if they've already started crossing the road when the driver turns into the junction.
  10. Some would say that "pizza" and "divine"/"stupendous" were a contradiction in terms! (without wishing to sound too much like Louisa...)

They always seem to get speed bumps wrong, anway. They're either great big lumps forcing you to slow down to under 10mph (encouraging accelerating and braking), or they're small individual mounds which any medium size car can drive over quite happily at over 30mph.

And besides, who's to say that it's not safer on Google's servers than it is in your home? CDs/DVDs deteriorate, hard drives crash, things get broken or stolen, viruses can render disks useless. I don't store files online, but I'd have no problem doing so in the future if/when it becomes more convenient than local storage.
  13. Did anyone see the Dragons on Wossy the other night? What *was* James Caan wearing?
  14. We've been here before. Maybe traffic lights plus a pedestrian crossing would be the best solution. A zebra crossing without signals would be dangerous.
  15. HB, Linton Kwesi Johnson would be a good addition to your non-singing list, I would say. Brendan, not sure about Vedder/Pearl Jam. I guess one man's "captivating" is another man's "insincere angst". If we're gonna go with a singer from that whole scene/era, I'd go with Mark Lanegan.
  16. annaj, I think you hit the nail on the head. Evil, pure evil.
  17. Sleepflower - Manic Street Preachers
  18. Why do some posts change after being posted, but there is no "Edited n time(s)" text at the bottom? Examples include Honnalochie's suggestions for covers on the "hot new band" thread, and someone fixing a closing bold tag on the "Franks Campari Bar" thread. This is really bothering me!
  19. What does a "hot band" involve? Kind of like something you would have said in the 80s. The phrase conjures up images of Skid Row, Van Halen, Motley Crue. Also, I'm sure HB's first reply originally had names of Mott The Hoople songs, and now it's T-Rex. Why is there no "edited" text at the bottom of the post?
  20. I won't worry too much. I'd be astonished if anybody wanted to use my picture for an ad campaign.
  21. Nothing regular in ED, but there have been various music nights at the Hamlets, sometimes incorporating open mic stuff. There have also been a couple of open mic nights at the Plough, perhaps that could be a more regular thing if there was the demand. Speak to Keef about this one...
  22. I didn't mean my post as an insult, just saying that pensioners would be the most likely customers for something like this, and they tend to have very little disposable income. I think that this business would struggle to make a profit, and would probably be an unfulfilling experience for our budding entrepreneur.
  23. Pizza Express is OK. Not generally the most atmospheric places, but the food is normally fine.
  24. What's with the bold font? Wasn't hard, was it?
  25. Keef, you're right - but the guys at the council should be smart enough to see when they're being ripped off, and insist on a fair rate. Unfortunately you can't just expect people to "do the right thing".
