  1. Sorry Mr Admin. It would be a shame if this useful and informative thread ended up in the Lounge...
  2. RosieH, that's interesting... I'd assumed that surely nobody could take this seriously, and therefore it was all pretty harmless. But I guess by now I should have learned never to be surprised by the things people will believe.

  5. You should put some sort of muzzle on the cat. Fasten it with a padlock, and only take it off at feeding time.
  6. There are are lots of little villages in the sort of east Cotswolds area, with nice looking pubs and stuff... but you can't get pissed because you have to drive everywhere, so it's all pretty pointless. I thought Broadway was lovely, but then we got completely bored after about 15 minutes. I don't really "get" the countryside to be honest.
  7. I may come along, but I'm pretty jet-lagged - hopefully I won't fall asleep on the sofa as soon as I get in from work...
  8. Serious question - does anybody know people who take tea-leaves/tarot cards/horoscopes/palm reading/crystal balls seriously? I'm sure people have visited fortune-tellers out of curiosity, or for a bit of fun. And that's fine with me. But does anyone know of someone who would make a big life-changing decision as a result of all this? I'm asking because, while most of us are aware of the dangers of certain other superstitious activities, surely fortune-tellers etc are just taken light-heartedly by all concerned??

  10. Just get it fixed through your insurance - give your insurer the number plate and they will chase it up.
  11. The Palmerston and Franklins are generally considered the best of the bunch, it's worth phoning them just in case they can fit you in. You shouldn't need a reservation at any of the indian places except Tandoori Nights. You might be able to get into Le Chardon, but the grub (and service) is somewhat hit-and-miss. Le Moulin (up by The Plough) will definitely be able to acommodate if you fancy some 1970s dinner party classics.
  12. The yorkshires are pretty good at the Bishop. The meat wasn't quite what I was expecting... seemed like it had been braised then finished on the grill... but tasty all the same.
  13. ralphation - i think it's just one particular Nunhead resident, who likes to stir things up - and now and again, people take the bait!
  14. I hope you are not suggesting the AFN is in some way biased in favour of Nunhead? That would be most out of character!
  15. I would think Citibank is fairly safe, surely the US government won't let them fail. But if you don't trust the banks, and you don't need to access your money for a while, perhaps you could put it in government bonds?

You get loads of "special edition" kit-kats in Japan... cookies & cream, melon, mango, green tea, etc. Not as exciting as the Galaxy Minge, admittedly.
  18. Perhaps ????'s point was to address pre-conceptions other people might have about black teenagers.
  19. For sure... pineapples are an over-rated building material.

They did disappear, Cadburys made a big fuss about their re-introduction. Bring back the Topic bar.

  24. My estate car, bought 10 years ago and will hopefully still be going in 10 years time. When I wake up to find a scratch down the side, or a chip in the bumper - it doesn't ruin my day. I can park it anywhere and be fairly sure that nobody will bother stealing it. Can fit an entire band backline in it, or a wardrobe, fridge/freezer, even a small sofa.
