you only need to change the bulbs

there are normally little push buttons on the hinges (one each side)to get the windows to open extra wide maybe one of these has got stuck in some way.

Have you tried resetting the modem there should be a little button on it somewhere maybe even just a hole you have to stick a toothpick or something in!
