  1. >>(Stern Look) Sex Workers, please Simon<< *looks ashamed at first but then wonders if this was a request and not a rebuke?* (?)
  2. prostitutes are probably ok though....
  3. >>"Just doing their job" Isn't that what the Nazis used to say?<< No no no *topicality alert* - it's what Evening Standard reporters say to Ken Livingstone/The Great Satan (delete according to taste)
  4. >>sorry about the 'little' tag. i meant in attitude rather than actual size of course! << I think when reading my original message you overlooked its context - namely the name and theme of this thread. I had been startled to see how much the asking price of this house was when it went on the market (I live quite close to it and knew how long work had been done it previously) and had thought "they'll never get that much for it - whatever it is like inside" - (hence my "still not terribly spacious" comment. But then the "Sold" sign went up in seemingly no time at all, and it was the fact of it (apparently) being sold that made me draw attention to it here. I thought this was interesting in the light of what others were saying about current property price trends in the area as regards other properties on sale. I made no personal comments about the sellers as of course I do not know them at all.
  5. Not quite anyone famous in ED, but I noticed a scene in the last episode of "Pulling" tonight was shot from the interior of the coffee shop opposite the "Dulwich Tandoori"!
  6. >>Oh and please let the Wendies get relegated as well, please!<< Much as I concur with the general sentiment, for it to come to pass it would almost certainly need Southampton to win their final game next Sunday! Ideally Southampton should beat WBA on Monday and then lose against Sheffield United. And as long as Doncaster hang on to 2nd place, good luck to Leeds in the play-offs! Could be a lot of Yorkshire derbys in the Championship next season eh? :))
  7. >>jesus there are some sad tossers on this forum, they can't help but pass judgement on things they really know nothing about. the guy who said the house on underhill road "really wasn't that spacious " must either live in a palace or be one bitter little man as its actually one of the largest houses in SE22 on the market right now<< As the "bitter little man" in question I will leave it to those who know me to judge both my sweetness and size :)). When I described the house as "not that spacious". I meant for the price being asked - and based my assessment on the sizes of the rooms as shown in the detailed floor plans on Foxtons' website. It's still only a 5-bed* semi - for ?400K more you could have the 5 bed detached "palace" at the corner of Peckham Rye Park, also in SE22 of course - and only because the loft-space has been thoroughly exploited. Myself I reckon it is overpriced by at least ?250K...(based on what similar houses along the road have gone for) * mea culpa - I now see there are 6 not 5 bedrooms
  8. Well there's the Farmers' Market at Dulwich College tomorrow....
  9. I did enjoy "Sir" Alex ranting on and on about the penalty award....so the player was far away and it was a "big" match eh? Riiiggggghhhhhtt.....handling the ball is ok for the *big* teams? Interesting that was the 1st penalty awarded against his lot in the League all season... Meanwhile, back in the Championship.....there are still 5 teams playing for the last 2 play-off places. The rank outsiders are - ahem - Sheffield United (25 points from their last 10 games) who need a win next Sunday, Watford to lose and at least 2 of the three other teams not to win. Sometimes the season really *does* end too early...
  10. Well Foxtons put a ?1.3 million tag on an (admittedly done-up but still not terribly spacious) 5 bed semi on Underhill Road a month or two back and the "sold" sign went up after about 3 weeks.

The Drum has a cool dog.......watched him totter up NC Road today to pee on the flower shop's wheelie bin...:))
  12. (1) If you, year abfter eyar, are "awarded" a wage "increase" that does not keep pace with inflation then what you are being offered is a pay cut (2) This is still true when a smug, self-satisfied, prosperously-drssed Scools Minister prattles on about "Independent Reviews" (3) Christiano Ronaldo of Merde United is about to sign a contract which will pay him ?150,000 a week (4) Some things are beyond satire, as Tom Lehrer observed when Kissinger was awarded a share of the Nobel Peace prize

  14. >>I'm not silly enuff to let me monsters out and about << (self-censors rude tasteless "joke" about a bra...)B)
  15. I thought he had done that secret agent thing and typed it with home-made invisible "ink". But when I held my monitor to a warm place to read the message the thing burst into flames...:(
  16. better red than dead.....
  17. Johnny Rocket's in Miami South Beach - much better burgers than GBK but also really cool for its "Scarface" connection Cafe Schuh in Interlaken (But my favouritest cafes ever - although not abroad, even though Cambridge, like Manchester, is North of Watford Gap - were the Corner House in Cambridge and Diana's Diner in Endell Street, Covent Garden - both sadly missed :()
  18. Turkish, and not even a saint anymore!
  19. I have to laugh (no, not really) at claims of "bad luck" from certain quarters. For real bad luck look no further than the poor old supporters of Rotherham United. As for last night, I am sorry Liverpool lost the way they did. The referee was certainly....eccentric (dunno how Terry stayed on the pitch) and Drogba must covered the soles of his boots with butter. But Cech was fabulous and Torres not quite at his most clinical Liverpool can still turn it round though - especially if Chelsea make the mistake of playing for a 0-0 in the return.
  20. If the owners are French then they should know how to make great coffee! (Or a good cup of Joe, to continue the Twin Peaks theme :)))
  21. I am not as extreme as Colin and hope Liverppol win too :)) Not going to make any forecast though as I "tipped" Arsenal to beat them in the quarters!
  22. Middle age is your own age plus 10 years B)
  23. The third season of "Rome" was actually made some time back and called "I, Claudius" by the Beeb.:)) Not sure really how a third season would have worked with so many of the better characters killed off - and in such spectacular ways too! But the Ian MacNeice character was tremendous!
  24. >>P.S Fowler will always be known as GOD to anyone who supports Liverpool. << It would be marvellous if he plays for Cardiff in the FA Cup Final! :))
  25. Your neighbours were having a foursome with a pair of local foxes? Blimey that's a bit "modern", even for ED! :))
