Just to update - Road Watch police team, with local residents and councillors will be taking part in speed watch tomorrow at 2 different sites in Barry Road - one at the Upland Road Junction and the other will be revealed tomorrow at 10 am.

I have offered ?100 pm towards my granddaughter's costs - her rent is ?140 per week in halls and she is awaiting details from Leeds as to how much maintenance grant she will get from Leeds uni. We contributed around ?1000 a year when her mother and aunt went to uni . My 32 year old despite having a part time job and 2 children is till paying off her student loan. Her older sister eventually replayed her loan after 20 years.

Is anyone in the Barry Road/Dulwich Library area having problems with their post? The last time we had post was 3rd August. Although would not expect this on a daily basis, we generally get something every couple of days. Bank statements are not due yet but other important letters have not arrived. An Amazon delivery was due between 2 - 6th via Royal mail/GPO - no card left to collect from sorting office so emailed Amazon who confirmed that item was dispatched in accordance to dates and agreed to chase up. Couple of hour later parcel was delivered by man in a dark purple polo shirt which indicates non RM/GPO

Places which do not encourage congregation of groups intent on anti social behaviour. Where the pavement is wide enough to allow prams and wheelchair easy access. ( Some of the eating establishments in LL are putting more and more table and chairs outside which could cause obstruction to prams/wheelchairs/mobility scooters, and a danger to those with impaired vision.)

Managed the trip well as able to park in the car park as the barriers were broken - I did check with a staff member who stated it was for staff but they could not enforce whilst barriers broken. Went via a small turning off Southampton Way - a few places to park in the street.

Many thanks for your suggestions - I knew about the hospital transport but it is only to hospitals but not medical Centres. We are only having to go to the Lister as our GP surgery cannot do the dressing change as no appointments available at such short notice - that's why they arranged for the Lister. We go back to our GP (The Gardens) in 12 days time for the wound clips to be removed, and that is not a problem as I can usually park near the surgery and he is well known there so I can get him into the surgery and then find a parking space. I am going to do quick visit now to the Lister to check out nearby parking as our 14 year old grandson is going to take him into the surgery in his wheel chair whilst I find a parking space. I remembered that he was staying over today for a few days to help his Dad with moving some of my furniture around.

At a recent meeting of our SN police Team, we had the anti social behaviour officer in attendance. She and SNT gave the following information (see below) The Southwark noise and nuisance team deals with all noise complaints, as well as other nuisances such as smells, dust, fumes and light. When a complaint is made officers aim to attend within 60 minutes to ascertain if the noise is legally a nuisance. This is determined if the noise would prevent someone sleeping at night or having a conversation/watching TV during the day time. Please note that service cannot deal with noise from traffic, trains and Planes or loud footsteps. Hubby cannot walk more than 2 steps with crutches and has difficulty getting in and out of a car - he can do ours as seats a reasonable height otherwise it takes 2 people to hold him and at 17 stone this is not easy. The main problem is that he has limited movement in lifting his leg up - can only raise it a couple of inches, I use a stick to walk but could manage pushing a wheelchair short distances. Looks as though a cab is the only resort. I might have a drive down there this afternoon and check where the nearest parking is - I could drop him off at the barrier and push him to the reception then go and park nearby - at least I know he can get in and out of car.

GP will depend on where you live as majority of surgeries have specific catchment areas. Some of the more popular surgeries operate a waiting list.

Our GP made an urgent appointment for hubby at the Lister for Monday as no appointments available at usual practice. I know where the Lister is but cannot figure out from their website as to how to access their car park, is it from the main Peckham Road or from off Commercial Way. Hubby is on crutches following an operation and can only walk a few steps - I have borrowed a wheelchair to get from car to surgery, but do not have a blue badge, so cannot leave hubby in surgery whilst I find a parking space in street as I am aware there is limited spaces for those without a parking permit. There seems to be a barrier across the road entrance from Peckham Road. Can anyone advise?

Maybe the best solution is to have wider bays so all of us who struggle getting in/out car can push the car door open wide without scratching another car. I try and take my son in law with me shopping as he is more agile (and slimmer) than me, on the last couple of occasions, cars have parked up so close to the drivers side, I could only get one leg in, he had a good laugh and had to reverse up for me to enable me to get in. Recently had to park in a Kent Hospital car park and noticed that all the bays including the disabled bays were of the same width. Only difference was that the disabled bays were nearer to the entrance.

My grandchildren had eczema and drank goats milk or almond milk, had soya yoghurts. Took several years to clear but still have minor flare ups.

The landlord wanted to sell out to a large coffee chain (I think they may have made him/her an offer.) St. Christopher's had to negotiate a rent rise in order to retain the premises. I believe that the ED store is the largest shop they have.

The Road Watch Team will be doing a speed check in Barry Road at Upland Road Junction from 10 -12 noon on Wednesday 22nd August. A further one will be undertaken in September in the early evening. Those volunteers wishing to take part need to pm me with their details and if they want to do the whole 2 hours or part of the time.

St. Christopher's have opened up a furniture shop I believe in Sydenham. The Hospice may get some funds from the Clinical Governance groups of Lewisham, Southwark and Bromley but they have to fund raise all other costs. I cannot remember how many millions they have to raise each year - but when you consider the high costs of providing End Of Life Care in terms of staffing, environment, medications etc as well as general upkeep of the building, they need to put money back into the coffers. There was agreement originally with the local councils and landlords that if an empty premise was used as a charity shop, it did not need to pay rates/council tax and only a nominal rent. This is why most items were 'cheap' as minimal overheads. Most charity shops now have one or two staff members who are paid - making them more of a business. I think St. Christopher's have 2 staff members and the rest are volunteers. When you think the shop is open 7 days a week, and the hours of opening are quite long - the pay cannot be over generous. Both my daughter and grand daughter shop in charity shops, they have got bargains over the years ( a designer label dress retailing at ?150 for ?10) and some unusual designs, but even in Bromley area, clothing is pricey but other items are cheap. They go down to Brighton regularly to scour the charity shops there which are much cheaper than London. This may be because they have 3 universities in the region and cater for the student population. ED nearest universities are Elephant and Castle, New Cross, Peckham (Art) so not quite the concentration of students. When my kids were young, I frequently purchased clothing from charity shops as they out grew every thing so fast. I do the same for my grandchildren and have picke dup things for as little as ?1. Books are usually the cheapest items to buy in charity shops.

My daughter had a naming day ceremony for her eldest, did not have an officiator, just short speeches from various family and friends followed by parents cutting a cake and toasting with sparkling wine. Photos take of parents/child and guests.

The big St. Christopher's Hospice Shop had it's rent put up by around ?30,000 pa so prices had to rise. They also have daily and weekly targets to reach.

Now that I have retired I do not use my car as much, when going down LL or Peckham I use public transport. However having some mobility problems (not severe enough for a Blue badge) my 2004 registration car is essential to do supermarket shopping at Sainsburys, visit my family and grandchildren in Orpington and Sussex. The car is well maintained, thanks to Andrew Brock (prior to his retirement) and now Turners. My children work, one needs her car to get from Orpington to Redhill and uses her car to visit clients at work. The other daughter works in the middle of the countryside where there are no buses other than 2 a day, and is 15 miles cross country from home. All of us are aware of the environmental impact of emissions, but we do try to act responsibly re car use.

The people who left it in a tip were the landlords or their agents. They did donate some tins/packages that were in date to a local food bank. I expect that stuff left outside was out of date

His last dog Adam was a golden Labrador - he only had him for a few months. His previous dag was black and quite elderly. He did not always treat her well. We looked after hhis old dog for a day as he had to go somewhere and was not allowed to take his guide dog. Given that someone has advised that his 'advances/behaviour' appear to go back 10 years suggests that serious consideration be given to reporting to the police.

So far, we have only had offers from 2 people to do the speed watch in Barry Road. I will wait until next Monday before I talk to the Road Watch police again to fix a date or time. Still require details of any near misses or minor bumps as this could sway the outcomes of the public consultation.

It is possible that regular police officers in the ED area know him as he has been living in this area for 10/15 years possibly longer. We have only known him since he was made redundant and was about during the day. His previous dog was a black Labrador who was retired due to old age. I do not think he realises that women do not like his advances. I would suggest that you speak to your local police officer and ask their advice. If they know him, they are likely to give him a friendly warning.

Since his actual address is not known it would be difficult to make contact with the appropriate SNT - he may come under Dulwich Hill police patch
