Lost cat hillcourt road dulwich- missing again

I was considering Nationwide for a pure savings account. I want to set up a joint savings account for myself and daughter and with so many BS now providing 'bank accounts' it is difficult to find a provider who will accept a joint savings account request. I know it will be poor interest rate but ISAs cannot be in joint names, and other high interest accounts favour a single investor. I do not want internet banking.

former East Dulwich councillor - how can I help?
Pugwash replied to James Barber's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Where was the sign displayed? The sign I saw yesterday and today is on the lamp post and states Bus Stand. No stopping from 11 pm - midnight and midnight to 8 am. Local Buses only. -
Just received a parking charge note for ?90 for 'overstay' parking at Lidl in Peckham. According to the photo - I entered the car park at 13.52 and departed at 15.46. having overstayed by 23 minutes. Maximum stay being 1 hour 30 minutes. I also thought it was a maximum of 2 hours stay - but cannot say that I always look at the notices so I am at fault there. However the time it tales to get through the checkout at Lidl's with a trolley full of stuff, surely it should be 2 hours. Given how quickly items are scanned through the till I put every thing back into the trolley and then pack them in bags when I reach the car. On really busy days you can spend 10 minutes or more looking for a parking space.

If your are lucky you can park in Barry Road. The bin is in the car park but you access it from Barry Road. Unless you have bags and bags of stuff, you do not need a car. It does get full up quickly so you are advised not to put too much in otherwise it falls out onto the pavement. It is run by a private concern/charity.

yes the Plough bin is still there.

Following a 'disagreement' about names for their anticipated 1st born child (sex unknown) my daughter and son on law could agree about a boy's name 'Morgan' but not on a girl's . In the end they said sod it Morgan boy or girl!. Daughter annoyed when Morgan started school to find another female Morgan in another class Baby 2 (sex unknown) no female names but Travis or Lennon for a boy. Thankfully when son was born a change of heart and Morgan then aged 5 was asked whether she preferred Owen on Euan/ Ewen for her brother - she replied Owen as she could pronounce this better. Consequently Owen became one of about 4 Owen's in his primary school Regardless of what name you choose - your child will change it. We had Kathryn and wanted to shorten it to Katie but our daughter decided that she was a Kat and everyone apart from us her parents call her that! My old aunt for reasons unknown always called me Mary Ellen ( my names is nothing like that)

is she a good swimmer as there is a national shortage of qualified life guards. My 18 year old granddaughter went on a weeks course (her Mum paid) and now has a flexible part time job working in Bromley and gets more than the minimum wage per hour.

There have been many helpful suggestions on EDF and I wonder whether you have tried to contact anyone/organisation. You do not indicate your age or the age of the deceased. You may have experienced a still birth or cot death/sudden infant death for which there are specialist organisations. In the past 5 years I have lost both parents and experienced different levels of grief possibly as I knew that their death was inevitable in a very short time, Your grief may be as a result of an accident/incident and therefore you are in shock. Kings College Hospital have bereavement counsellors who offer help for those whose loved one died in hospital.
-
Re dbboy as above. I support what he has said. It is important that you get some help to support you through this time. There is a well known theory/fact in the counselling world that if you are unable to come through your 'first grieving process', when you experience another 'loss' it reopens your previous loss and makes the current loss more unbearable. I am not explaining this very well - it may well be that you have experienced a previous loss in your life and thought that you have managed to get over it but this new loss has re awakened those feelings and they are intensified.

Having a friend who has bladder trouble ( medics are still working on the cause) the desire to suddenly urinate made him housebound and depressed for a number of weeks as he needed to visit the loo several times during the day. Many of our more mature men have bladder problems and with the lack of public loos especially in LL and no where after around 11 pm at night, they resort to peeing up a tree or wall. Obviously they need to do this discretely and not places where children are likely to be. Many years ago there was a campaign by local residents to have a public loo in North Cross Road (by the electricity sub station) and also on Goose Green - but it came to nothing. Whilst you can nip into a pub to use the loo, you cannot do this with cafes/restaurants as for customers only. Those parents with young children know hoe frustrating this can be.

Notices re the Extra Ordinary Meeting for EDS were put on community notice boards and in the ED Community Centre. Letters sent by post to all known 'current' and past members. Copies of accounts for last 3 years were on display and for inspection as were all the bank statements going back several years. Those attending the meeting voted that in terms of the objectives of the EDS that the DS most closely replicated these aims. Following the death of the chair, the move to Norfolk of one of the signatories, the death of the other signatory meant that only one signatory remained. On advice of the bank and Charity Commission - the society was wound up. The CC is currently winding down the EDS- they have been furbished with all the account details and copies of correspondence. All monies in the bank - account were paid by cheque to DS

Halifax charged me a massive amount last year for property insurance only - when I queried it as several hundreds of ?s more, they offered me a different rate as a 'new' customer, but warned that I will have an increase this year to almost a ?1000 pa!!. We use Swinton for our contents insurance so I will be asking them for a quote for property nearer the time.

Gumboots Holiday Club at the East Dulwich Community Centre Darrell Road. SE22 ?32 per day.

Do not go for 'vogue names' they go out of date easily also others usually can tell which programmes/pop stars you were watching during pregnancy. I used to hear a lot of Courtney, Chanel, Chantelle, Sunny, Beyonce, LaToya, Sheridan, Scarlett, Elvis etc. Go with names that suit your surname - I still remember dealing with an Arthur Crown, Teresa Green, Lily, Ivy and Rose Seed and a George Raffe (G Raffe)

Are high rise buildings in and around ED safe?
Pugwash replied to trinidad's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Under the London/Urban Plan, properties in East Dulwich are restricted in heights I believe this is up for renewal. Keep your eye out for planning applications as flats are being squeezed into very small spaces. Many moons ago my friend was in a high rise flat in Kidbrooke with 3 kids, the council ruled that families with young children should not be housed above the 4th floor. There were no flats at those levels available but friend was offered a newly built town house in Thamesmead. She took it even though it was miles away from family and work. -
Gumboots Holiday Scheme is open for 4 weeks cost per child per day ?32.
-
There is a regular painting programme and this year in late August, the hall, kitchen and toilet flooring will be replaced.

Redjam wrote 'with so many older children running around. Plus the Darrell Road Community Centre is a bit grotty, though that's not their fault. But other than that it's a good and well-run club and I would recommend.' Would be helpful if explanation be given as why they thought centre was grotty?. As part of the Management Committee we are conscious that our centre may be old, but it is well maintained externally and internally - given limitations of the building. Gumboots have used this centre for over 20 years for their daily after school and holiday clubs. Can the 'grottiness' be changed - if so please advise.

To the man that asked my 6 year old to cycle on the road
Pugwash replied to R U IN ED's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I agree that it is dangerous for children to ride on the road, but I have some sympathy for those who have been knocked by child cyclists. My old aunt who wore surgical boots as had one leg shorter than the other, was knocked down by a child (around 10 yrs) on the pavement outside what is now Sainsbury's Local. The child had said he had rung his bell but my aunt being hard of hearing did not hear. Fortunately did not sustain a fracture but was very reluctant to go out unaccompanied for the rest of her life. I park my car in my front garden and have a dropped kerb, I always ease out very slowly as pavement is always busy- I am also very near a bend in the road, the times that children charge pass on their bikes worry me as the parent is usually several yards behind. Also a danger to child cyclists, are people who walk their dog on very long leads - as these can get caught up in wheels -
Dovedale/Forest Hill Rd Talking Cat
Pugwash replied to yeknomyeknom's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Our old cat was very vocal and you could have a conversation with her, different sounds and pitches yet she rarely talked to our other cats. When she died, the house was very quiet and the other cats missed her. We have 3 cats - one who is dumb and cannot growl or purr, one who squeaks rather than meows, and the other who has varying tones.
