  1. Gigi, I flounce at the very thought. Ronniemamma, no it's not Tori. Closer to home.
  2. Now, now Kel. Woof and BBWwhoopssorryImeanReynard aren't that bad. I wouldn't go so far as to call them lice.
  3. Red hair.
  4. I feel somewhat unworthy, since I've only got a couple of these and then only after someone else! But it's a great game, and we can't let it die (sob)! So here goes: Get me on the boil and reduce me To a simmering wreck with a slow kiss To the back of my neck Carve up my heart on a very low flame Separate my feelings then pour them down the drain
  5. If you step on a scale holding 2 pints of water and then drank them while standing on the scale it would be completely illogical for the scale's reading to reduce. I haven't tried it (don't own scales) but I'd put money on it. edited to say I cross-posted with Huguenot.
  6. I think it would, KK, if the scales were precise enough.
  7. *hastens to add* Yes I still love Mrs Clark, too! But I'm bringing a lady friend.
  8. Actually, I'm planning to bring someone else, ahem.
  9. Not sure whether 'hurdy gurdy mushroom man' is really going to catch on, Mockers. It doesn't even acromize (is that a word?) well. I think the word you're looking for is the immortal Woo, as in 'NHS Jamma Memorial Woo Treatment Centre'

Don't at all disagree with your points on the wider topic of addressing the ills of society in general. It's certainly no co-incidence that it is the poorest amongst us that suffer most in this area. Thank you for your clarification on your first post.
  11. Ah, the old 'people who post on here have too much time on their hands' post ploy.

Huguenot, just so you don't think I was ignoring your response:- I don't think it's unreasonable to talk about 'sides' in a debate. For clarification, I didn't mean those for or against violence! But you were an early respondent to the original post and the first to start to make attacks on women in general which approach was then taken up with glee and expanded by others. Those are the people whom I characterised as being on your 'side' - people who decide that on a thread campaigning against violence against women that the appropriate response is to denigrate women. You went on to say 'forgive me for interpreting this as an attack on men' - I think this has been taken up by other posters, so I won't try to recircle the discussion.
  13. I hope to be there, and hope to be bringing a +1.

(i think that was what > your vague impression was mistaken for) I know nothing about Scientology, but I assume you username is a nod to the Scientology founder as well as to the Telescope - and I also thought Scientologists not only do not believe in psychological illness but also do not believe in conventional medicine. But I may be taking the thread off topic...

A truly extraordinary thread. I was baffled to see how a highlighting a campaign against violence perpetrated upon women was interpreted as an invitation to air prejudices ranging from women's unfitness to lead others to how they are really happier in the domestic arena and culminating in some positively medieval superstition. I almost expected to see the ducking stool out on Goose Green this morning. RosieH, Annaj, BN5, thank you for your attempts to retain a level of sanity in the chaos. Huguenot, I suspect that you were being provocative but did you really interpret this campaign as an attack on men? Do you see campaigns against paedophilia as attacks on adults? Did you feel comfortable in the company of those that chose to range themselves on your side in the debate? Celebrate life, peace, individuality and choice. This shouldn't have to be about men vs. women. RosieH, I too think this is a worthwhile campaign.

We could get quite creative with the neighbourly war! If you want to go really mental, consider planting a tree with poisonous fruits that just happens to lean over the fence*. *Disclaimer: if anyone actually does this, they are insane and I didn't tell them to.
  18. LRon, is preaching against alternative medicine a requirement of Scientology? I had the vague impression Scientologists were all in favour of that sort of thing.
  19. It is a sport popular among Forumites, good for toning the arm. By co-incidence, it's also an excellent means of getting your drink from the glass on the table into your mouth. It is not technically dancing, but has been known to lead to dancing, both vertical and horizontal.
  20. How dreadful and inhumane, especially appalling to add to this child's suffering a sense of guilt and wrongdoing.
  21. Too late! Mwah ha haah
  22. - not reading 'About this Forum' :)
  23. Shucks, snared - and there I was teasing snorky only this morning. Sorry snorks.
  24. Stop being poisonous, Alan Dale. Exactly what are you trying to achieve?
