Me too, and I only bought a scrap of fabric big enough to sew a knee patch!

It may well have been. I intend to go back just as soon as I can fit through the doorway, they were bloody lovely.

Exactly what Wee Quinnie said! If someone comes on the Forum and asks us for our opinions on a particular topic, then what is the value in debating the value of debating the particular topic? Serious danger of disappearing up our (yawn) liberal pampered behinds.

David, your main argument appears to be that bull fighting is OK because cruelty to children is worse. Stick to the chuffing point. And your ancillary argument is a rather weedy "define torture". The point of cooking shellfish is so that they are cooked and can be eaten. It takes a couple of minutes. The point of killing bulls is for its own sake, it is a 'competition' with a pre-defined result. It can take quite a long time, and whether or not it's torture it is inflicting pain and prolonged suffering for entertainment*. This is what we have been asked to opine upon. Whether or not little old ladies or hulking young toffs should give their cheques to donkey sanctuaries or to the NSPCC is just so much guff in this particular discussion. *I guess that gives you a fairly good understanding of my viewpoint...

You are entitled for a (reasonable) legal sum to be paid for you to retain a lawyer to check any document you're being asked to sign to waive your rights. Ring ACAS immediately - they can ACAS advise you - they are free, and they are experts. Best of luck.

Yes. Sick. That's how I felt one cake before the end. But I ate the last cake anyway, and it hasn't killed me. There's a lesson in there somewhere. *burp*

A svelte Forumite and I met there on Friday and ate half a plate of assorted delicious goodies each. And yes there were chocolate brownies, and they were most fine. And then we declared we couldn't eat another mouthful. And then we ate the other half of the goodies. Fat Moos

Yes, but it's mostly for gay toddlers.

What do you call someone from East Dulwich?

South Peckhamites, surely? Or was that just a cut-and-paste post from the Forest Hill forum? -
I caught this morning morning?s minion, king- dom of daylight?s dauphin, dapple-dawn-drawn Falcon, in his riding Of the rolling level underneath him steady air, and striding High there, how he rung upon the rein of a wimpling wing In his ecstasy! then off, off forth on swing, As a skate?s heel sweeps smooth on a bow-bend: the hurl and gliding Rebuffed the big wind. My heart in hiding Stirred for a bird,?the achieve of; the mastery of the thing! Brute beauty and valour and act, oh, air, pride, plume, here Buckle! AND the fire that breaks from thee then, a billion Times told lovelier, more dangerous, O my chevalier! No wonder of it: sh?er pl?d makes plough down sillion Shine, and blue-bleak embers, ah my dear, Fall, gall themselves, and gash gold-vermillion.

Westminster Council about to charge for motorcycle parking

OK, well I didn't think they were dangerous in the same way that, say, tigers are dangerous. But my goodness me, I had no idea that they could actually save lives in that remarkable way! Does the NHS know about this? All we need are lots of people on bikes going around preserving lives like this and we won't need any more ambulances! Thank you so much for your very reasonable response. I don't know what I was thinking asking such a question. "I've just saved her life and you ask if motorbikes are dangerous!" My personal favourite sentence from your post. I'll be preserving it to keep me warm (and safe) in these cold winter days. -
No. And up yours. ......oops sorry, forgot the smiley....

Noooooooooo..... I haven't even got an image for my cards yet. Help help help.

OK, I've thought of one - I'm very good at climbing trees. I feel this could be helpful in the Post Apocalypse East Dulwich Commune. (??) And I'm the stubbornest motherfunster I know, also useful I assert.

Oh, OK :-$ Now I realise I have limited survival skills in a pre-apocalyptic world too...

SeanMacGabhann Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > you can't even BEGIN to compare the Road with > Survivors, Moos! > > (he said, breaking cover) Come off eeeeeeeeeeeet, they're both post-apocalyptic stories about surviving in a changed world, why not? OK, one is Litracha, and the other is a telly show but it's reasonable innit? I wish I'd watched it now, and haven't got an iAnything so may just have to catch up with episode 2 and forever be going 'Polar bear? What polar bear? Eh?'. After reading The Road, I have been known to lie insomniacally in bed thinking about what I would grab if I had to leave the house in 5 minutes and survive only on my wits... oh dear. I'm genuinely perturbed that we have to return our baby back pack and now I'll have to carry Moosling in my arms! Clearly I need help. And like d_c, I have limited survival skills anyway...

Aren't motorbikes quite dangerous, though? I don't have any personal experience, so would be interested to know what people think. I have a friend who is a regular motorcyclist and she said 'you've got to be realistic - at some point you WILL come off', and a colleague of mine spent month in hospital after an accident that broke both his arms. Those two things have coloured my perception, but it's pretty limited information. If they are dangerous, then I can see why the councils would hesitate to push motorcycling as a recommended form of transport. -
I know lots of people who've almost finished their Christmas shopping! Now that's depressing.

I suppose if we had 'ED Issues' and 'Beyond ED' there might be less of a feeling that what is now 'the Lounge' is for trivia: it's sometimes referred to as the 'less serious' part of the Forum. In reality quite often the ED Issues is full of threads about very minor things like bus times and what someone thinks of the service in a particular caf?, whereas the Lounge will be full of passionate debate about politics or ethics. Of course there's room for all kinds of discussions, and clearly people want to talk about serious issues both local and general, and have a laugh as well - I'm not suggesting either is less valuable. I'm not a big fan of calling it 'the Lounge' either, but I'd never have thought to mention it had someone else not brought it up, the title is really not important.

Um, well to be honest it's not quite as good, but it's worth a gander.
