Things You Would Like To Do Before You Die.
Moos replied to Tony.London Suburbs's topic in The Lounge
I like to do breathing in and out, I feel it's delaying the inevitable. -
My God! I just watched the news! Apparently there's a recession on!

Where have all the good men gone and where are all the gods?

I'm told I can make my own Ham and Eggs Bloomers, but that sounds most uncomfortable, not to mention unhygienic.

I'll be wearing mine.

The Lodge may be a club in Notting Hill, but surely its Masonic implications are far more sinister? I think we're going to see the dashing chaps around town of ED going around trousered with their trouser legs rolled up. Serge_A_Storms, welcome to the Forum - as you can see, it's a friendly place! You've just stumbled across two particularly typical characteristics of regular posters - the irresistable urge to be irreverent, and a deep suspicion of new things. Being proud of not being middle class is also very typical of the EDF, although mathematically suspicious, as SKS observed. When the Lodge closes in 2014 because of the "October 2013 Did They Or Didn't They Bar Manager And Cook Scandal" we'll all be moaning like mad that we loved it and why did it have to go. It's just far, far too new right now to be any good.

The Blake mural has been painted over by the Council
Moos replied to Mark's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Well, I rather agree that the mural would be better without additional planned graffiti, but I thought it better to report neutrally. Suggest you take it up with your ward councillors and let them have your views. Don't be the, ahem, silent majority. Re: the tagging (although I'm amused to see someone equating it with murder) I believe the mural went untagged for many years and it was only once some quite small tagging happened that other taggers joined in and really went to town, so I expect we will see a similar pattern on the 'blue canvas' between now and May. -
The Blake mural has been painted over by the Council
Moos replied to Mark's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Yes, I was - there were about 10 people altogher. Gordon and another councillor were there, along with Ursula Allison. They were keen to reassure us that 'the money will be found' to reinstate the mural, although I was concerned that no-one had a clue how much it was likely to cost. Apparently each of the wards has 'cleaner, greener, safer' budget to spend. And (as Paul says above) not only had the owners of the wall not yet consented, it seemed as though they had not yet been spoken to at all. It seems the artist is keen to update rather than just replace the mural, possibly with some built-in graffit space. -

OK, so you only said this to get a rise, LuvPeckham, but I can't let it go unremarked. The trouble is, not everyone reacts the same way, so almost anyone can honestly quote almost any response to justify whatever they think is right. My take on it is that sometimes a woman can be whistled at and it can make her feel happy and attractive. Another can feel cheapened, threatened, reduced to an object, belittled or even ashamed. Because the latter is rather more impactful than the former, and because basically it's bad manners to call names out to strangers (even if in your view you're paying them compliments) it's generally frowned on these days. But to suggest that ugly women are jealous of pretty women and therefore 'got it banned' is pretty cheap. Sarah Palin's supporters have been throwing that line out to female media-types "you don't like her because you're just jealous: she's successful and she's pretty". Play nicely now...

I'm just not admitting to it, Tillie. I'm shy...

He did make a big mistake once and wouldn't resign - but then he got accused of something he didn't do, and resigned anyway. He's been in the wings for a while. And it was worth it for the headlines: - I need you today, O Mandy..

I have a crush on wine and biscuits. Steve T, good choice.

Did you not see the scene with the Santa hat? ;-)

Good point, I knew you did but I said it anyway. Dim Moos. :))

Good call on Gillian McKeith, horrible bully woman that she is. Quite, quite wrong to take so very much pleasure in telling off not-very-clever people. Also Rebecca Loos - really scraping the barrel on reasons to be famous. Ugh.

Love, love, love Withnail! I'm one of those tedious people who fall about in the pub quoting bits to one another. Also, is the JG in Donnie Darko Jake Gyllenhaal? If so, what about Brokeback Mountain, he was excellent in that. Also rather good in the Iraq War movie whose name I've forgotten.

(to D_C) Ha! should I? (to Keef) Yes I know at least one Forum couple, but I don't know whether we should say who they are. They might not like it. He's an exotic Atlantic-crosser and she's a petite blonde...
-
That's all right, Keef, I love you enough for the both of us. *goes off trailing her teddy bear*
-
I know what you mean, Keef. She's a bit like Katie Price - she's obviously determined, astute and sharp. So not really stupid. But she IS stupid in lots of quite important ways - like the ability to listen, the ability to be interested in the world around her, any kind of curiosity. I found her and her monstrous mother's presence on our TV screens quite scary.

Nicole Ritchie, Callum Best, Paris Hilton, Kimberly Stewart, whatever Ray Winstone's daughter is called, whatever the tongue-out-sticking, singing daughter of that crazy-looking actor is called ... anyone who's famous for being someone famous's child, being thin and falling out of taxis. The Osbourne children are excepted, as they seem quite fun and sassy. But I agree with Mockers that it's all to do with the viewing public buying the mags... Slightly unbelievably, I think Noel Gallagher made a good point about X-Factor and the inevitable fate of most of their winners quite recently. What do you do when you used to be a check-out person, and then you were a pop star and now you aren't a pop star any more?

Thank you very much to everyone who said nice things! (blushing flatteredly) Except the Carnell bit, of course... However, I'm going to stick to the rules and only admit crushes for forumites I've never met. So:- TedMax, to whom I have assigned a thoroughly unlikely delicious Southern drawl, and the lean hips of a gunslinger's great-grandson. HonaloochieB, whom I imagine to have the naughty twinkle and weathered, athletic frame of a London Mr. Big. Nero, all tweed and elbows, and marvellously dry (yes, I know. I know) And finally a super girly pash on the ineffable Dulwich Mum. I've probably forgotten quite a few people. I'm as indiscriminate on the ether as I am constant in reality...

A man with 4 hands. Interesting. Would be excellent at washing up, for example.
