I dunno, *Bob*. Many people are glad to be given guidance on getting something that you actually do want. I agree completely with Pickle about keeping prices reasonable though. We had a wedding list but a number of our friends decided that wedding lists are boring and bought us presents offlist. Fair enough, but we were given the silver candlesticks that we had chosen on our list from one set of friends, some more silver candlesticks that were not on the list, some wooden candlesticks that were not on the list and 3 fruitbowls, none of which were on the list because we already have a fruitbowl. Most of these offlist friends had been very generous and got us something that they thought we would really like, and it's embarrassing and a bit sad secretly to be wishing that they hadn't.

I hate my name, it's for tarts.

Brendan, it was a bad few years. BN5, I'm not moving to East Dulwich, and you can't make me.

Shit, I've lived in Dalston and Loughborough Junction, and now I live in Peckham. I appear to be terminally misguided.

Quids - oops. *goes back to remedial irony class*

goldstar, really sorry to hear that - what a terrifying experience for the people involved, and yes it must be looking like a pretty bleak Christmas without homes.

*severe tone* Did you just fart at me? That's just mean.

She's not THAT tall.

I realise I'm swimming against the tide here, but I like them. They don't fit in with the Victorian architecture, but nor do the rows of cars perpetually parked, or the bins, or the gravelly layout of people's gardens. I also really appreciate walking home in a well-lit street at night; Ondine Road used to be a bit too dark for my liking.

The Shard, Mick Mac. It's a picture from the Fyooooooooooocha.

Very true, Kel - so many of the bridges are amazing. Tower Bridge on a sunny day is fabulous to cross and just watch the towers floating over your head. Richmond Bridge is good for people-watching in summer, Putney decorated by a lovely church, Millenium Bridge beautiful in itself, Albert Bridge is so pretty, Hammersmith Bridge is just bananas... For Westminster Bridge, I will of course defer to the poet. Earth has not anything to show more fair: Dull would he be of soul who could pass by A sight so touching in its majesty: This City now doth, like a garment, wear The beauty of the morning; silent, bare, Ships, towers, domes, theatres, and temples lie Open unto the fields, and to the sky; All bright and glittering in the smokeless air. Never did sun more beautifully steep In his first splendour, valley, rock, or hill; Ne'er saw I, never felt, a calm so deep! The river glideth at his own sweet will: Dear God! the very houses seem asleep; And all that mighty heart is lying still!

Waterloo Bridge. You can stand on it and look around and re-pledge your allegiance to London.

Lots of sofa bouncing accompanied by yelling I'm A Kangaroo! at top volume is very popular in our house... with my son, at least. Variations on the theme include bouncing on our bed/being chucked onto our bed with the bedding all piled up into a heap, bouncing in his cot etc. etc.

Wind and hiccups in newborns - help please!

It's called 'Tiger in the Tree' - have been searching for illustrations on the web, but can only find pictures of actual tigers which may not be helpful... -
Wind and hiccups in newborns - help please!
Moos replied to Ko's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I've heard it said that dads make the best winders as they are a bit firmer with the baby ... not that I would want to encourage anyone to be too firm with a baby! but you know what I mean. Also, it's nice for them to have a job that they do better than you, as it's easy for new dads to feel a bit left out. -
I like the idea of being Maid Moos And Her Merry Mates, do you think we could be in panto?

Wind and hiccups in newborns - help please!
Moos replied to Ko's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Congratulations Ko!! Lovely news, and hope you are feeling well. My only suggestion would be to ask your other mum or dad friends on winding tips. Try walking around, gently patting his back, try putting him down onto your lap and then back up onto your shoulder, just generally gently moving him around. Patting and firm stroking seemed to work best for my little one when he was little. Also, if you aren't sure he has wind, you could try gently pressing the middle of his back. It sounds a bit weird, but if he has wind it will resist your touch a little but if not will be more flexible. It takes a while to get the hang of, but it's useful. Best of luck, and congrats again. -
I don't raise the point to have a go at candj, although I can see that she would interpret it that way so I do apologise if that's how it seems. I just think that criticism of a business has its time. I don't think it's fair to keep re-raising old points and discussing them multiple times, as though they were new - particularly when they are so extreme. The effect is that someone's business is getting hit multiple times for the same mistake.

Time to relax? I thought I was the one suggesting we should play nice? Did I in any way stop you from expressing your opinion - no. I just expressed mine. I really don't mind if you don't like it. If this is the problem, I have no issue with you personally, and hadn't registered that you were the person doing the digging. I stand by what I said. You may have brought up the old threads with the best of intentions, but the responses to your post I think bear out my comment. My experience with this person is just that - my experience. I think people are inclined to post only when they have an extreme experience, which is a shame.
-
No, no honest, I was on my best behaviour! :-$ I realise a number of people have had issues with this guy, but I think digging up old threads to laugh at him is a bit mean. Just wanted to even things out a little.

Oh, sorry, totally misunderstood you there. *looks sheepish*

Bendy bus eradication and fare increases

What's the advantage? At least on the 48, queue-barging is a bit trickier to pull off! -
As in Mare-y's Boy Child? How dare you, my husband would be furious if he knew you what you were suggesting.
