  1. If I may say so, do not the Venn diagrams deserve a point of their own?
  2. And the prize for most het-up and unnecessarily emotional post on this thread goes to........ Colonel Blimp. Well done, sir - what a contribution.
  3. Getting in on others' act over a beer. Impinge drinking.
  4. Envy of faster posters, while having a glass of wine. Tinge drinking.
  5. 1) general light-hearted gibber 2) occasional primness 3) unpopular feminist comment 4) bad puns 5) minor bloodless battles with PGC 6) other people's poetry 7) bringing up baby
  6. Back in the day, I would occasionally pop out for a pint or two with the Doors, sweet chaps they were too. But it would be rude to have referred to it as hinge drinking.
  7. Thanks Barry, appreciate it. There isn't a huge amount of rubbish yet, but I'm sure once it's clean and tidy again, that will make people hesitate more before chucking their cans over the fences. I shall come as Bertie the bus.
  8. And thank heavens you're here to fill in the gap, Hona. Do people with toothache indulge in twinge drinking?
  9. Agree with the good advice above re: napping, it sounds as though he still has lots of energy at bedtime. My 2yo is still very energetic at bedtime all the way to being put in his PJs but starts to relax and rub his eyes during his story, so it's clearly a good cue for bed-time. Books are a lovely part of the bedtime routine (esp for part-time slacker mums like me). Moosling doesn't have a bath every day, but whether it's a bath day or not we read a couple of stories once he's in his PJs and sleeping bag, so he's absolutely ready for bed. Then we turn the lights low and have singing and cuddles for a few minutes and plop him in his cot.

Ha, good one. I'm like a quick spin cycle. Lots of noise and rushing about, but still a bit wet at the end of the day.
  11. I shudder at the thought of going home, this is occasionally misconstrued as cringe drinking.
  12. Indeed, but as you say, mostly started by one of our old friends...
  13. Possibly Anna. But also possible that people came, saw, sighed, left, and months later were reminded of the awfulness of what they read by a thread about how awful the EDF is? I've seen many posts on here posted by narrow-minded people, stupid people, thoughtless people, prejudiced people, hysterical people and people just not in control of their tempers. (My posts are, of course, without flaw) In fact, if you take out the pure factual, transaction-based posting, it feels as though the crap posts are more than half of what's posted. I only hang around because of the quality of the rest, and the people that I know. So I don't blame the nay-sayers a bit. But it's a bit naff to go on a forum to slag off another forum. If you don't like it, just don't use it. The forum isn't responsible for what people who log onto it say, and the mods can't delete everything they don't like, or there wouldn't be much left.
  14. I agree with LE, the comments are funny, and you can see where they're coming from. The post about the African restaurant (ie the original here on the EDF) was unbelievable.
  15. I wouldn't say endearing. But definitely absurd enough to be funny, and clever enough to get a rise.
  16. Dear Barry Hope you enjoy your 2-week holiday from all our complaining! Thank you for your continued responsiveness, although I have still not got over my disappointment re: your lack of resemblence to the Fat Controller.. Anyway. Could you please send out your cleaning teams again, as the spaces behind the fences at ED station are starting to fill up with cans and packets again. Thanks very much! Moos

Trip to Australia - ?6k. Claiming it as working class grit - priceless. Thank you, you've really cheered me up Louisa, you're a treasure!
  18. Sorry Barry, being silly. Ignore me.

If you put a pumpkin outside your house, that apparently means that you are happy to be trick-or-treated... last year we had 3 or 4, and got lots of visitors - it was great.

I'd just like to confirm that I'm entirely abnormal. Thanks.
  23. Hello Louisa, welcome back. It's good to see you haven't changed.
