  1. Agree with everything that's been said, and also did you see "They are thought to have been reported to Ofsted by a neighbour"? It's a minor point, but what possible good could the neighbour have thought he or she was doing? It frightens me the way the increasingly stringent laws seem to be becoming interpreted so that anyone not cleared by CRB checks must almost by definition be doing wrong, and a possible child abuser or neglectful parent.

    The C-Word

Unlike the other fellow, Admin is very clever and only has to check it once.
  3. I must say that I wish I had known about these midwife teams before I had my son - don't rely on your GP to tell you anything about 'available extras'. I never saw a midwife more than once, and would have loved to have had someone I knew helping me through labour.

You have to watch that *Bob*. He'll be talking about the number of shopping days left next, and how he's already 'ticked off half of his list - just Uncle Andrew to go, and he's always OK with a bottle of port' Argh! I'm doing it now! *explodes Monty-Python stylee in a cloud of hypocrisy*

    The C-Word

Put it this way - the one I'm objecting to at the moment is only supposed to come once a year. Still, it brings good cheer, she said smirkily.

    The C-Word

Argh, someone has already used the C-word on the forum, and it's not even October. Stop stop!
  7. I second Gubodge's comment about King's - I gave birth there in 2007, and ended up with an emergency C-section and a 3-day stay. I felt very well looked after by the midwives and surgical team, and remain very grateful to them for their expert care.
  8. ARE THERE ANY WOMEN HERE?
  9. Fuschia, what a nasty experience - so sorry to hear it, poor you. I very much hope you recover soon and without too much pain and trouble.
  10. Hmm, reading back I see what you mean, Piers. Seemed like a good idea at the time to have a little space for telly-watching Forumites to chat. However, I'm prepared to swear that goblins are not even slighly misunderstood and that they'd slit your throat soon as look at you.
  11. I appreciate that it was a light-hearted comment, but telling someone that they're not welcome in the family room and that they should go back to the lounge seems quite rude to me. This is a discussion forum, and I don't think ???? should be made to apologise for providing his view.
  12. Bags I be Miss Scarlett.
  13. Ah, pass me a copy of Decline and Fall, would you? (Aren't the Ents dull)
  14. The battle for Helm's Deep has started - very exciting!
  15. Big nose, that chap.
  16. Sorry, no I don't.
  17. Poor Arwen.
  18. Not sure who else might be draped across their couches gazing at the TV and firkling around on the Forum. Anyone watching the Two Towers? I'd forgotten what a spectacular movie it is.
  19. Birth rate in this country is already drastically dropping - it is currently below the death rate.
  20. Please don't misrepresent me - I have never said that the customers of the Castle are morons, and I never would. I said that people who jeer at girls are behaving in a moronic way, and I stand by that. I agree that photos on this website would be totally inappropriate, for the record. But I'm still not seeing quite where you stand here - is it that anything less than genuine fear of rape is a compliment to one's appearance, or are we inching to a middle ground? What we have to go on here is the OP's original statement, which I quoted when I said 'jeering and leering', and which also described these people as pests.

    re: 2 it's a flat. so yes.
  24. I think I've said before now that I dream about having Prof. Higgins' study from My Fair Lady. The balcony of books... the spiral metal staircase... the stern but handsome Rex Harrison... sigh.
  25. I AM peering in. Still, I liked the idea of the study with the leather armchairs and the roaring fire. Ho hum.
