  1. And I met Santa, he was a top bloke, seven foot tall, asked me what team I supported and had an encyclopaedic knowledge of goings on at Upton Park. His elf had a canon 1D mkIII and charged me 20 quid for a photo!
  2. No fair, I think it would be exttremely cool too!!! I can't help but fear that noone would do it unless there was a buck to be made, at which point you have to be a bit afraid something dreadful will appear.
  3. WHy ever would you say that? Oh.....
  4. Great stuff CS, as ever!
  5. it jest fail's ewe wen yew get won rong.
  6. John Wayne Gacy Jr? (who features in the Sufjan Stevens song "John Wayne Gacy Jr.")
  7. Blimey ratty!! Bath salts?
  8. that past my morning tee brake nicely.
  9. The first one made all the good songs. I'm afraid it was all research on very dubious fan sites.
  10. Pope in great use of irony shock. Warns of power and wealth. Nice.
  11. "quite quiet and nice" wow, you really are stepping up an age demographic aren't you!!!
  12. The next East Dulwich - 2 bed house, a snip at 10k http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-42495119.html
  13. I've only been once when they knocked Stevenage out of the FA Cup many moons ago, and can't recall any songs (or atmosphere). T'Interweb has scant info, but apparently "shit on the villa" is popular, but the lyrical content was meagre and repetitious. World War 2 classic Keep Right on to the End of the Road, doesn't seem to have anything that matches the clues.
  14. "Tell someone who had an unexplained stillbirth, or lost a partner in childbirth, that a healthy mother and baby is nothing special. Go on tell them. They're listening. Some of them are on this Forum." DJKQ levels of pompous projection! I have a close friend who's sister suffered a stillbirth, treated her with sullen resentment when she got pregnant and shut off relations altogether after the child was born. I doubt she was updating her status with solipsistic, vacuous, mawkish expressions of joy or policing fora for inadequate levels of awe at every instance of succesful gestation, but you continue dictating how everyone feels about a given situation. I'm generally a big fan of your posts, but by 'eck you're rubbing me up the wrong way today.
  15. A very worthy post I'm sure. Of course noone (I hope) would have wished them ill, but there are many reasons why there may be indifference or hostility to these events. These may be political from republicans, it may have to do with aversion to celebrity obsessions, a response to saturation media coverage or even just a natural reaction to peer pressure that we must all celebrate. In my case it's probably a combination of all of the above (although my republican leanings are weak, I'm against herdeitary political privelege in principal, but can't think of a better replacement, especially given the levels of dedication to public service the queen has shown compared to say, ooooh, politicians, who come to think of it seem to have created a privileged and often hereditary political class, but that's another tale). So yaaay, there was no stillbirth (friends of mine suffered this awful calamity last year), but do I give a shit at any other level? No.
  16. "It will soon be cheaper to buy one that someone else built for themselves a couple of years ago. There must be a few of those around." I'm pretty sure ours will be worth less than it cost when it's done. But we're not in negative equity and in no rush to sell, so that's fine, we'll wait for the next bubble ;)
  17. How about ?thelwulf, we'd all need shiny new keyboards?
  18. Rolling news, and 17,000 page spreads in the Daily Mail aren't reality. There's bone crushing levels of indifference to this going on.
  19. Obviously people are discounting the genius tack of building their own place in a forgotten rural corner of a country deep in recession, surely it's the only sensible move.
  20. Reminds me of a the 'cerveza con salsa Inglesa' I had in Guatemala out of bemused curiosity. Basically a very cold beer with worcester sauce and tabasco. A Ruddy Mary perhaps? A very odd drink indeed!!
  21. From his posting history I've pigeonholed UB for sure. Negatice-Nancy with slight louisa like anti-blowins chip on shoulder and acerbic sense of humour with tendency to tip over into crass. There's an occasional leaning to SteveT smut-merchant, but I've seen no evidence of SteveT old school casual 'not me guv some of my best friends etc' racist. Aaaaaanyhooo, any chance of letting this one lie?
  22. I should add pt is part, not pint. Other wise I might have been a bit bloated...not to mention messy.
  23. 'To Like' rather than 'alike'. Fair enough, good lateral thinking clue. I took it a bit literally, I went a bit oblique with the musical reference, should have got the obvious one.
  24. Did side by side test on pimms vs sipsmit yesterday. 1pt summer cup/pimms, 1pt ginger beer, 2pts lemonade. Splash of apple juice, small squeeze of lime. Chopped strawberries, melon, watermelon and mint. No outright winner, Pimms is the taste of the summer, but that sipsmiths summer cup is pretty compelling stuff.
  25. Ah bums, there was method in my madness, a cool montage sequence where the second ex silk spectre beats up some thugs in an alley to that song, and she certainly fits the first clue. Ho hum, next time :(
