  2. "Photographers everywhere" sign of gentrification or sign of ubiquity of the technology thanks to China? which brings to mind this while we're at it...
  3. Someone posted this on facebook. http://www.urban75.org/blog/the-a-z-of-gentrification-sure-fire-signs-that-your-neighbourhood-is-upwardly-mobile/ Far from "sharp edge of" this was already tired cliches on the forum in 2006, they were just plain old cliches in Brixton in 1996. In fact some of these were tired in 1986!! Apart from some of them which are just common or garden old memes, and a few which are just plain old world moving on. Jay Rayner is fair enough though ;)
  4. This is all a bit through the looking glass isnt it. In this world West Ham would win at Goodison Park.....long may it continue.
  5. that'll be the one.
  6. Is this self referential? BigBadWolf is now *Bob[cat]*?
  7. Acronyms didn't really [curry favour]* until the the post war (the first big one) period. Anything harking back to an earlier period is almost certainly a retrofitted explanation. Johnthewop's explanation feels better, especially as southern Italy was ruled by the spics** in a linguistically transitional period netween ancient and modern. *french or indian?! **I'm allowed
  8. French team had some really fit players.
  9. It's pretty much all been said. Someone wanted to know what the commotion was all about and dulwich tandoori gave us all the details. Can we have a 'resolved' status for threads like in Yahoo Answers or Stack Overflow?
  10. Ooh, here comes the goose stepping Admin crushing free speech 'neath his technological jackboots, 'help help I'm being oppressd etc' *how was that?*
  11. A rock the diameter of three london buses coming along at once would probably do the job nicely, but the cost of rentals would be the least of our worries if it hit dulwich. Given the amount of writing about it, surely the zombie apocalypse is well overdue?
  12. Exactly, I remember the interview with a highly respected martial artist in the US, his name will come to me, who said faced with multiple opponenets or a weapon the only viable thing to do is run or cooperate depending on the circumstance.

living up to your name there polla!!
  14. By the looks of things that's a plugin on existing functionality, serving up a different look when it detects that it's a mobile version of a browser or mobile os. Can't see the gubbins as work blocked, but probably mostly CSS differences and maybe some custom javascript stuff. Not exactly a native app, but as I said making it look better on a mobile browser would be a much more effective way forward, as it's only barely usable on a phone, especially scrolling around the text box on a long post and finding the damn post/preview buttons. Over to you admin
  15. I think I did back of fag packet sums of development costs vs likely sales. They didn't add up, it would need to be a labour of love, not to mention the dubious T&Cs of App store etc. An android app might be more feasible but it would still need to be a labour of love. A HTML5 designed with mobile in mind would probbly be the easiest, but as already mentioned phorum doesn't have a decent API so a bespoke one would need to be written. Bottom line, not going to happen.
  16. Judging by his posting history I think he may have made the schoolboy error of placing the right side of his bed up against a wall, forcing him to get out of the wrong side every day.
  17. God, I hope you haven't seen any of series 3 of Game of Thrones KylaKevin ;-P
  18. 1/2 a mug per person is usually about right. It is quite a skinny mug though. I'm in the otta camp with added lozzyloz for utter mirthlessness.
  19. http://www.broadbandchecker.co.uk/ how much broadband do you want. Most ADSL BT resellers will offer around 8Mb at fairly reasonable prices, you could then just stick with your bt landline rental. Vrgin cable offer 30mb with phone at around 15 quid a month. All told looks like there would be some savings to be had.
  20. And how is "your friend" enjoying them *Bob*?
  21. James Bond had the right idea
  22. I've the force feedback wheel on xbox, which I rarely get to crack out, but it is superb on Forza.
  23. rat population/proximity thing gets regularly debunked http://www.snopes.com/critters/wild/rats.asp http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-20716625
  24. If you have a PC you could just use that without forking out for new hardware. Other than that as otta says you'll get good bargains on the current gen machines when the new ones get released, other than that its much of a muchness. PS3 is a bit more powerful but I've owned my xbox for 7 years (blimey!!!) and it's still going strong.
  25. Or Il Mirto 1 minute walk from East Dulwich Station where you can etc ad nauseum.....
