  1. Well I often wipe my child's arse, would I be happy to do so on your table in a pub? Too bloody right; stupid, specious, logically fallacious arguments would deserve nothing less!! As it happens I've often cracked open a can or two at the Nursery's summer party, christmas party etc etc, with children present and everyfink.
  2. Constantine?
  3. lg, you've been a resident in these parts long enough to know!!! fwiw good work, I'm reminded of...

Yep, I remember a real ale festival in the Plinston Hall a few years back. I went to the pub for eggy Greene King after the 6th glass of mouldy carrot and stale acrpet. THe microbrewery thing was actually rebooted in the US in the seventies and we've followed suit I'm afraid. (not that it didn't exist before it just wasn't called that and didn't make it more than ten miles). I'm actually thinking about doing it in Ireland which is about 30 years behind here. I'm not expecting many takers.
  5. That bit where the chap seemed to think that scotch types get spat on as they come off the train at padington/kings cross was a bit jarring wasn't it. He might actually want to find out about English attitudes to the Scots before voting yay or nay on a ludicrous supposition of large scale racism. That aside, of Galloway he is occasionally right even when his reasons for being right are wrong, stopped clock and all that. It is awful these days though, except when Will Self (who's often wrong even when his reasons for being wrong are right) or Ian Hislop are on.

Or, as a wise man said on about post 3 of this thread "Craft Beer is all about experimentation and breaking with accepted traditions. Like anything some of it works some of it doesn't, but the world's a better place for the trying." ;)

HA berloved of hipsters and hippies no less!! "[Andy Rowland, one of the six brewers from the Brockley Brewing Ccompany (BBC)] said the brewery has so far been getting fantastic reactions from the community. Local artists and designers offered to help with their marketing, and pubs and shops in the area are showing interest in stocking their upcoming bottled ales. They have also teamed up with the local allotment group who are using their spent grain as composting material."

A bit unfair, I think we can thank 'craft' beer for the resurgence in ale generally and certainly for an improvement in storage and maintenance in pubs as a whole. So even if you just like a drop of John Smiths, it'll taste better thanks to the rise in interest that craft has helped engender. It was only about 15 years ago you had to hunt far and wide for a pub that served ale that didn't taste of egg.
  9. I use gmail, but interface it either through the phone or at home via Thunderbird, so never really have to struggle with the browser app which is a bit of a task.
  10. Ha, my god it is the lovechild of John Travolta nad StraferJack!!!
  11. I actually get on quite well with itunes these days, though it has taken a while to get it's act together, at least as far as PCs are concerned. It doesn't convert anything, indeed it has mp3 codecs if that's what you want to rip to. It no worse a performer than some of the alternatives, half of which seem to be clones, and significantly better than say Sony's offering. Mind you they're all becoming marketing portals and I really just want organisation software so may take the leap to Media Monkey or suchlike eventually. WHatever is compatible with ALAC (doh!!) and [probably] Sonos in the new house.
  12. Too much busineeze on a cv and it's gone straight in the bin. In interviews I use the unorthodox technique of asking a mildly challenging technical question specific to the, frankly technical, role. 90% failure rate sadly, but it does sort the wheat from the gits.
  13. What's with this pathological need to be right with people? It's UDT all over again. I'd surprised if it lasts much longer without the format being shaken up, but there's clearly life in the old dog yet
  14. ITunes works fine on my PC.
  15. so we won something then, if not the league or the predictions then this, cheer up maxxi http://www.givemesport.com/351968-manchester-united-relinquish-title-in-englishonly-scorers-league
  16. "Sugar is a jumped up, Wide Boy. Poor Boy made Good." How dare he not know his place, tsk!! as for the programme, I find it unwatchable but the missus finds it compelling, so I just pretend to shoot people, which she just finds pointlessly weird, so dif'rnt strokes for dif'rnt folks I guess.
  17. Kind of confirms the 'out of one's league' theory, men are definitely less choosy than women but men aren't nearly as obsessed with looks as women think they are. http://flowingdata.com/2013/06/12/what-the-sexes-want-in-speed-dating/
  18. The Riddler - Batman?
  19. isn't that from Quake?
  20. THat may be the case in which case fair comment I guess. I've had a quick google and it sounds like Jelly Bean has sorted this out but only on devices which have been designed with Jelly Bean in mind, ie upgrading an older tablet/phone to the newer o/s won't solve the issues.
  21. Its not really a case of 'android' upping their game, it's a case of the Garage Band development company hiring a couple of java developers. Weirdly the barriers to entry on Apple app development are alot higher than they are for Android development. It's a lot of hassle with Apple, the licensing costs are higher and the language is a pain in the arse, whereas java developers are ten a penny, the environment is free open source and the google development key is absolutely hassle free. If there's a gap i the market maybe we should put our expertise together, god knows I have to do something once I'm in Ireland!!
  22. Our child took to scooter at 2 and bike at 3, hasn't been near a buggy since, so quite agree on that count. Can't understand why anyone would want to keep those monstrosities going longer than necessary. I do feel that the odd annoying behaviour by a child in places rather colours the experience against all the parents who are mindful of their child's vagaries and are sensitive to others' experiences. When all you hear is the incessant whinging it makes you wonder why you bother. Of course a few persistently whinging arseholes shouldn't colour ones experiences of the silent majority who are understanding of the difficulties parents face....etc ad nauseum...
  23. We could talk about flower arranging and UncleBen will tell us about fake flower selling gangs and louisa will harp on about how the WI is gentifying, just apply the usual filters.
  24. The cooling is quite clever, but you can achieve much better results and much lower power usage by simply filling your pc with oil
