  1. 53% of british participants had no idea what it was all about!! http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/als-ice-bucket-challenge-over-half-of-brits-polled-did-not-donate-to-charity-afterwards-9696690.html

  3. A quick look at ALSA website shows that although snazzy pictures of test tubes suggest research is what they do, and they do state that their goal is to eradicate it for good, most of their resources, especially wages, go into outreach. ie helping families cope. I guess you can't be sure exactly what goes on unless you work there and noone is suggesting this should be something you or indeed i should donate to, but they look pretty legit to me.
  4. >There's another article on there that cliams it's a satanic ritual, and any christian who has done the bucket should pray > for forgiveness. I did see a screen shot of someone doing it but go on to say that there is no cure, however jesus is the means to salvation and nominates some people to take jesus into their hearts. funny or tragic, you decide!
  5. >I noticed Pamela Anderson refused to do it because of the level of animal testing they do. Apparently she's quite the >animal rights campaigner. Its a prinipled stance and I can respect that, though by the same token i think she should refusse any drug, medical procedure or treatment that resulted from animal testing. Which would be most of them. She can probably ditch those boobs for starters.
  6. Dogtooth on film 4 tonight. Bonkers film but very funny.
  7. I get the annoyed at the ice bucket challenge thing, i really don't get what you're doing here, but you're within your rights to disseminate mean-spirited antiscience misinformation. If you want to prevent funding to reasearch an illness because a brief fad annoys you then bravo. As otta might say "Slow clap"
  8. You might want to take away that link jah anything that is scathing about scientific "research"(sic) then goes on to sh!t pseudoscience all over the place, suggesting coconut oil and a 'ketogenic' diet can help with a terrible debilitating genetic condition. Plus 50% admin and fundraising is pretty typical for any charity larger than Mrs Miggins' Save The Palm Tree on the East Dulwich Roundabout type charity, so sounds like the money is being spent well regardless of an adminnistrators' wages, probably *because* they got in a good one. Stem cell research, well that's down to the individual to judge though I have no issues with it, though its disingenuous to HEADLINE ABORTED FETUSES then have a disclaimer that yeah its only ever been one, and they grow all the stem cells in cultures from that moment on. Pretty filthy stuff undermining a good cause like that. Generally as a rule avoid any website with the word Truth in the url is my advice
  9. >Will the laws there change now, at least to done extent, as a result of this latest tragedy ? No

  15. thats a helluva narwhal
  16. saw a photo of by a pal in new york on fb and it struck me that the new 1 WTC building looked like it had a minaret on top. A curious decision i thought. Freakish mistake or heavy handed symbolism? I googled to find out if this was done deliberately and, well, do it yourself. Apparently me and a world of crazies share this opinion, noone else seems to want to mention it....
  17. "First they came for the outspoken, and I did not speak out, so that was OK. Then they came for the mute, and on reflection I misjudged that." from https://twitter.com/SnoozeInBrief/status/501300898988314625, via the independent

  20. if you're in the mood for it then you can definitely get swept up, if you're being a miserable old git, no amount of effort on your part can make up for the lack of alcohol. At least not in my case :(
  21. its a tough one, I did use it when i was off the pop for a bit. It gives that minor psychological hit, as Otta says, drink it COOOLLDDDD! in the end i just stopped going to pubs, no point.
